  MINISTRY STAFF UPDATE

PSALM 4:5 “OFFER SACRIFICES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND TRUST IN THE LORD.”

In recent weeks, this congregation has put our trust in the Lord that He would provide Ministers to serve the Dalton Gardens church family. It has been exciting to see the Lord at work. After an exhausting national search for a Youth Minister, the Holy Spirit directed our focus within and Dave Johnson answered the call. This church family is very blessed to have Dave Johnson accept our Youth and Family Minister position effective December 1st. Dave and his wife Terri are truly an asset to this congregation and we look forward to many years of dedicated service as we all work together for the glory of God’s Kingdom.

Unfortunately, Greg Clark has declined, and will not be our pulpit minister. Because of emotional and family issues, he has returned to his family in Oklahoma.

Please remember what Jesus said in John 14:1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me.” We have confidence that when we trust in the Lord, He is faithful to provide. Your prayers are requested as this church family moves forward in our service to Him.

CHRISTIAN COUNSELING BY RALPH CRUMP

EIGHT PRINCIPLES OF BIBLICAL COUNSELING

Principle #4 - Submission
Submission goes hand in hand with humility. Humility is more of an attitude that indicates “I am here to help you.” Submission is humility in action. When a wife is commanded to submit to her own husband (Eph. 5) the intent is to cause the wife to place her own needs in a secondary place to the needs of her husband. Once the order is properly arranged, energy should be expended to serve the needs of the husband. In the same way the husband is to place his own needs in a secondary place behind the needs of his own wife.

SHEPHERD’S CORNER

One of the exciting things that we get to do as God’s family is to welcome people into the family here at Dalton Gardens. This happens when people are born into the church family through baptism, when they move into the area and want to be a part of our family, and sometimes this happens when someone has been gone and returns home.

We want to welcome home Michael Kish and Matt Rude as they have returned from a tour of duty in Iraq. Also Tony Rohrenbach has returned home after six months training from the Washington National Guard as an EMT.

This is a wonderful and exciting time to celebrate, and we plan to have a potluck in their honor soon. Until then, please welcome each one and celebrate God’s love as His family.

WEEKLY BULLETIN

Calendar Update
We are in the process of making sure that the birthday/anniversary calendar is up to date. Please stop by the sheets in the foyer and fill in your birth date and anniversary. The sheets will be up only until next Sunday so please stop by this week. Thank you!

Get Your Java!
We have been blessed to purchase one of those little coffee/espresso shops that you see peppered all over the area. Ours is located on Government Way and Kathleen Ave. next to the Chevron Gas Station/Subway store. You can’t miss it; a bright yellow box with red trim. Please stop by if you’re in the area and get yourself some good stuff! Thanks, Ron & Barbara Cooper

Keenage Banquet News
If you plan to attend, please RSVP with Kim by Wednesday, November 16, so we have an idea of how much food to prepare.

L.T.C Fund-Raiser
Christmas is coming and there are lot's of gifts to wrap, from now until December 24th. I will wrap your gifts for you for a donation to the L.T.C. program. Your supplies or mine! contact patty welter for more details, and to set up time.

Need help getting ready for Christmas?
It’s already getting to be that time of year…and every year members of the Church of Christ enjoy buying presents for children they do not know. If you, or someone close to you, has had a difficult year and needs help getting Christmas presents for children, please fill out a ‘Christmas Wish List.’ The Wish Lists will be located on the kiosk in the church foyer. Please return the Wish Lists to Kim Howard in the church office by November 27 and we’ll make arrangements later for deliveries. If you have any questions, please call Kristine Robinson (208) 691-3718. Happy Thanksgiving!

  CHRISTIAN COUNSELING BY RALPH CRUMP
(CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1)

Submission has an interesting use in the New Testament. Whenever the Bible speaks of divinely ordained principles as in citizens to government, wives to husbands, children to parents, or the church to elders (I Peter 2:13; I Tim. 3:11; I Tim. 3:4; I Peter 5:5), the inspired writers used the passive voice in Greek to indicate “you have no choice just accept this!” But whenever the Bible describes the practice of submission as in citizens to government, wives to husbands, husbands to wives, or slaves to masters (Rom. 13:1; Eph. 5:21; Titus 2:9), the inspired writers used the middle voice in the Greek to indicate “you must volunteer to be submissive.” God declared that we must be submissive to one another. When a husband perceives that his wife is not giving or serving like she should, he feels justified to withdraw his service to her. She in turn serves him less because he has stopped serving so much. The final outcome of this behavior is a total end to service and communication. The marriage becomes one in which two strangers are living in the same house.

Biblical counseling promotes the idea that submission and service should happen no matter what the other has done or is doing. The divine example in this area is clear, “But God demonstrates His own love towards us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Rom. 5:8). For resolution of any problems, each party must submit and serve the other without basing their service on what the other is doing or not doing.

C.C.S. SCHOOL NEWS
“GREAT REWARDS” BY TERI DUPEY

One of the greatest rewards is appreciation. This comes in many forms at C.C.S.: Hugs, words, actions....., but I think the hugs are my favorite! The innocence of first and second graders is heartwarming. They are great huggers!

We are doing the basics as always, Bible, math, reading, phonics, spelling, etc. and also are learning to type on a fun software program. One free-time activity is a software program called "Zoo Vet”.

The children diagnose treatments, using virtual medical instruments, medications, and procedures.  They are rewarded by  words of  appreciation for a job well done by the zoo staff members and head veterinarian, and even receive printable certificates and trophies.

All the students are getting aboard the "Smile Train" by sponsoring a child in a foreign country to have cleft palette surgery.  We have collected about $50.00 in just two weeks through "Coins for Kids". We need $250 to sponsor one child. You can help us reach our goal sooner by giving us your coins. Imagine how thankful that child will be to receive this special gift!   The rewards of giving are immeasurable!

Thank you for all the many ways you give to His school.  We desire your prayers daily and are blessed through your actions.    God has great rewards ahead for you and C.C.S.!

In His service,
Teri Dupey
