Twelve Attitudes for Successful Search into God's Word - Part 1

It is imperative that man has the right attitude as he approaches God's Word. If he comes not believing that the Bible has enough information to guide one's life, he will not find answers to life's problems. Or, he won't find the answers that he wants. On the other hand, if one approaches God's Word convinced that He knows what is right, he will find the answers that will work and will benefit the one who practices God's way of life. Below are 12 attitudes that man must have in order for this to work. But once he is convinced, finding answers becomes easy.

I. One must believe that God's Word has all the answers!

The Bible verse that should be the theme for any biblical counseling is II Peter 1:3: 'His divine power has given to us everything that pertains to life and godliness through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.' Since 'godliness' refers to religious issues, 'life' must refer to everything else. God has given us all the answers and guidance to every aspect of physical, emotional, and spiritual life. If this is the case, there is always a biblical answer, there is always a biblical principle, and in most cases there is some kind of Bible story for illustration. The convinced student will search and find the answers. (Read Jeremiah 10:23)

II. There are no new problems in this world!

The wisest man who ever lived said this:

That which has been is that which will be, and that which has been done is that which will be done. So, there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one might say, 'See this, it's new'? Already it has existed for ages, which were before us. (Ecclesiastes 1:9-10)

Solomon had the luxury of experimenting with life. He used all means to find happiness and peace in life. One thing he concluded is that there is nothing new.

There is no new way to find happiness. New-fangled gadgets and all the money in the world will not produce happiness. It has been the same way in the past and it will be the same way in the future.

There are no new problems in life. Any problem that one has today is one that many others have experienced before.

Solomon's conclusion for his great experiment was this: 'Fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.' (Ecclesiastes 12:13)

Solomon did not tell his readers that to find happiness meant that one had to be religious. But he did tell his readers that happiness, true happiness, comes from God's Word.

This year we are providing child care services for our Ladies Fall Fellowship. In providing child care services, we are hoping that more mothers with young children will be able to attend who might otherwise not be able to do so. If there are any ladies who would like to make a contribution for the child care, please see Mary Petersen. Any amount would be appreciated.

New Prayer Trios Coming Soon!
Christians need each others' prayers. Even when there is no immediate crisis, those prayers refresh and sustain us. It has been a while since we divided the congregation into groups of 3 family units. Each family's role is to pray for the other families in their 'TRIO' everyday. This way each group has 2 other families praying for them on a daily basis. Look for your new Prayer Trio assignments on Sunday, September 18th. Rejoice ever more. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks for this is the will God in Christ Jesus concerning you. -I Thess. 5:16 -18

C.C.S. School News
It Is Time To Work -- Dan DuPey

We might ask ourselves, "What are we doing that is keeping us so busy?" Our daily schedules often become overwhelmed with errands, special activities, and daily routines. If this is left "unchecked", we often slip into a mood of apathy.
We can easily drift away from God when this happens. Often, we will follow what others (The world) want instead of what God wants when our lives become so busy. It is SO important to put God first. It is SO important to use Him as our guide. It is SO easy to say, "Maybe later" to all associations and activities with the Church.

We need to be involved to stay HEALTHY. Our spiritual health is so important to and related to our physical health. Prayer time, class involvement, Home devotionals, and congregational activities supercharge us spiritually. What comes next? Going to work. Getting into the field. Finding a need. (They are everywhere) Fulfilling it! What a joy it is and how uplifted we feel after we have met a need of a brother or sister.

James 2:26 - For just as the body without the Spirit is dead, so also is faith without works is dead.

God has demonstrated how strong and powerful we can be by following Him and setting the example. We can move "mountains" in people's lives. We can change our family as well as those around us by our attitudes and our giving of ourselves. It is easy to forget, but we are at God's service and should always be ready for duty! We are "serving" in His ARMY. We are walking the road the leads us HOME!

CCS has already jumped into God's Word and taken action in class discussions and great Chapel times. It is good to praise the Lord and make music to his name! It is good to praise the Lord, Oh, Most high! There are many, many to pray for in our Church family. Let's pray for these members daily!

Scholastic Book Fair is Here!
CCS is holding their first book fair of the year in the small auditorium. Please come and take a look at the great selection of books. Keep in mind upcoming birthdays, Christmas, and your children's classroom libraries. Each of the school classrooms and the school library have a wish list posted at the fair. There is also a new program that Scholastic is offering in which for every dollar that is donated to the school for new books, Scholastic will make a donation of one book to programs such as Toys for Tots and the fire and police departments for distribution to kids in crisis. What a great deal! It's a two-for-one good deed! The book fair will be here until Friday at 2:30 so be sure to stop by and do some shopping. Thank you for your support of reading and CCS!

Garden of Prayer Request
We are breaking it down to the simple. The amount of work is too much for just a few and we need EVERYONE's assistance so that we may be able to get other areas done before winter. Look on the board for a small part of what you can do. It's called 'KEEPER OF'. Many thanks to those who already have a lot on their plate, but are helping anyway! We are only asking for 20 to 30 minutes a week and in some areas just per month.

Remember to keep praying for your Secret Prayer Sister!

Who's coming to dinner?
A sign-up on the kiosk is for everyone interested in hosting or being a guest for dinner. Each month everyone's names who have signed up will be randomly drawn from a hat. First draw will be host, and second draw will be the guest. This will be a time to get to know each other and enjoy each other's company, drawing us closer in our church family. Names will start to be drawn the first or second week in July. Once your names are drawn, the host will be responsible to contact the guest to find an evening that is good for both parties. For more information contact Paula Morris 664-1046 or Kim Borsheim 772-0785.

Please Note....... If you feel you might have misplaced any of your dishes from past potlucks or events, please check on the brown counter going towards the kitchen. Thanks!

Please check the Garden of Prayer board on the easel in the foyer. Your help is needed!

Secret Sisters!
Please remember to contact your secret sister at least once per month and pray for her much more often than that! Also, be sure to check the bulletin board at the bottom of the ramp for thank you notes from your sister. There are a lot of notes that have been hanging up for a while.
