SHORT BY
STUFF DAVE SHANER
The Great Northwest Evangelism Workshop (GNEW)
has now been officially named Renewal. GNEW served its purpose for many
years but today is a new day with new opportunities. Jeff Walling, Jeff
Hicks. Jerry Jones, Marvin Phillips, Randy Harris among others greatly encouraged
us in the faith. I am already looking forward to next year. The dates are
July 26-29, 2006. Make your plans to go to Renewal now.
It was great to be able to see four young people
give their lives to the Lord last Sunday in baptism. They were trained by
godly parents to recognize that only in Christ can anyone follow God. We
are saved by grace through faith. Grace is God's vehicle that provides salvation.
Faith expressed in action is the conduit that carries the grace to the sinner.
Baptism is a defining moment that changes our relationship with God. It
is faith being acted out. Baptism without faith does not result in salvation.
Salvation is the result of the work of Christ on the cross. He did the work;
we respond to His offer of salvation.
Most "Christian" churches today discount the
necessity of baptism. They see it as a work of merit if done before "salvation",
but that does not mean that we have to do nothing. It is like receiving
a present on Christmas day and never opening it. The only way we can enjoy
the fruits of that gift is to accept it by opening it. But opening the gift
does not make it something that we earned. It was freely given for all those
who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. It is sad that the god of this world
has even blinded the minds of believers such that they discount what God
has intended to bring us salvation. It is more important to simply believe
what God has clearly said in His Word rather than to try to get it to make
sense. God knows what he is doing. Jesus said, "He who believes and is baptized
shall be saved. He who does not believe is condemned." - Mark 16:16. Four
teenagers believed that last Sunday and responded to God's offer. Anyone
who reads the Bible on their own will believe in the necessity of baptism.
It takes a "preacher" to talk us out of it.
- Have a Great Week!!
She gave this name to the
LORD who spoke to her: "You are the God who sees me," for she said, "I have
now seen the One who sees me." - 2 Corinthians 4:7

Good News!!!
We rejoice in the family of God here with the addition of four new Christians.
Congratulations to Alan Frisk, Robin Flanders, Joshua Nelson, and Ronnie
Ross who were baptized last Sunday. We are very proud of these four young
people for their decision to put Christ first in their lives. Be sure to
welcome them into the family of God.
Camp Prince's Pine
Junior Camp starts today! Pre-Teen starts next week and the camp directors
will be: Scott Koopman and Mike Winegardner. If you can help out at camp

ATTENTION LADIES & TEENAGE GIRLS
LADIES FALL FELLOWSHIP MEETING
There will be a Ladies Fall Fellowship meeting on Monday, August 8, 2005
at 6:30 p.m., in the kitchen at the church building. We had a very good
turnout for our meeting in April and the enthusiasm was wonderful. We are
so blessed with the many talents of our ladies and teen girls within our
congregation, and we encourage all of you to attend this meeting. There
is a special job for everyone. Babysitting, the theme, and other topics
will be discussed at this meeting. Latayne Scott will be our speaker for
this year and her lessons for this year's session will be on Rahab. She
lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is the author of 'The Red Cord of
Hope'.
After VBS Bash!
On Wednesday, August 10th anyone who helped with VBS is invited to Alyssa
Frahm's house for a potluck lunch. We will start at 12:00 p.m. and then
after we eat we will take a few minutes to talk about how things went at
this year's VBS. All teens who helped and children of the adults who helped
are welcome to come. Bring your swimsuits and towels. While we talk the
kids can swim. Don't forget a potluck dish to share with everyone.
Shepherd's Corner
Praise God! Praise God! Praise God!
Luke 15: 7 says "more joy (rejoicing) in heaven over one sinner who repents....." Last
Sunday this congregation played a part in MUCH REJOICING in heaven as the
Kingdom of God increased by four. Sunday morning three young men were buried
with the Lord Jesus in baptism, and Sunday evening one young lady. New members
of this congregation are Ronnie Ross, Alan Frisk, Josh Nelson and Robin
Flanders. This Church Family rejoices and needs to help encourage these
young Christians in their new walk with the Lord. "And again I say rejoice"
Phil 4:4.

Prayer Trios
To aid our prayer trios in praying for each other, you will find blue prayer
request slips in your mailbox or on the kiosk in the lobby.' Please fill
these out with any prayer or praise requests you may have, then place the
slips into the mailboxes of your prayer trio partners.' Remember, they'll
be much more effective in praying on your behalf if you tell them what to
pray for!' Let's continue lifting each other up in prayer daily. You can
find extra prayer request slips in a basket on the table under the mission
board.
Tweeners Swim at the Slates
The Tweeners will be getting together at the Slates' home on Saturday, August
20th to enjoy a day of swimming, boating, fishing and having a good time
together. You are invited to come as early as lunchtime, just bring a sack
lunch for your family. We will be sharing a potluck dinner together. Please
bring a side dish, dessert, chips or fixings for hot dogs and hamburgers.
Also, bring your swimsuits, towels, floaties, kids' life vests and fishing
gear for your enjoyment. If you plan to come PLEASE sign-up at the kiosk.
Directions to their home can be found on the kiosk. For questions see Larry

Special Contribution Next Sunday
We have been extremely blessed to have Nathan Frisk home for the summer
and serving as our youth ministry intern. His help and his ideas have been
a gift from God. Even with a team of nine people working with our teens
there were still many things falling through the cracks. All of us on the
team are working full time and Nathan has filled in the cracks
with a zeal and enthusiasm that is quite admirable. Nathan takes this role
very seriously and he allows the Spirit to guide him every step of the way.
Nathan is attending Oklahoma Christian and will be returning to school very
soon. Next week we will take up a special collection for Nathan. This is
how he will be paid for the time he has spent working with our kids this
summer. It will help him with his school expenses. I encourage all of us
to plan for this and send Nathan back to school with a gift of love that
he will not soon forget!
In Christ, Scott
Come join us for Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday mornings, at 6:30 a.m. at JB's
Restaurant on Appleway for prayer and encouragement!
Secret Sisters!
Please remember to contact your secret sister at least once per month and
pray for her much more often than that! Also, be sure to check the bulletin
board at the bottom of the ramp for thank you notes from your sister. There
are a lot of notes that have been hanging up for a while.
Get Ready Ladies!!!
The first annual all women's retreat at Spirit Lake, September 16-17. This
is for women of all ages 18 to 98. Dads, please encourage your wife by babysitting
so she can come to the slumber party. More information to follow soon.

CCS NEWS.....
Is There Hope?
Dan DuPey
Many of us are parents! We have been through the exciting, positive days
that say, "Job well done". Many of us have also been through days of trial
and discouragement that say, "Was I wrong on that?" "Did I misunderstand?"
Parenting, of course, is NOT always easy. There will be times of distress,
but there will always be times of great JOY!
At times, one might ask, "Is there hope?". A key to developing great family
relationships is not in ourselves alone. It comes by following Christ!
Strong, loving families come by being firm, fair and consistent. Our hope
of a great family future lies in obedience to God. Christ said, "If you
love me, keep my commandments". Jn 14:15
Show Love as Christ was our perfect example. Teri and I have always felt
that encouragement in all things to our children was imperative. When there
is happiness in their lives, shout for joy! When there is sadness, be there.
When there is discouragement, encourage! Parenting is NOT easy, but it
is certainly rewarding! The Hope is in the seeds that we have planted.
Do our children know that we are there for them in all things. Remember,
Jesus said, "I am with YOU always.....(but, how long is He with us?) even
until the end of the world." We must remind our children of their past
successes. We have always stressed not to use the word "can't" in home or
school! Teach 'CAN DO' through Christ. But, always, always remember to
be an example for your children. The seed is planted, hopefully, from a
very young age.
We need to continue to water and feed that seed over and over again. Remember
how the Israelites wandered. Remember how they were joyous, successful,
and triumphant when they showed obedience? Remember how discouraged and
defeated they became when they were disobedient? Their lives were like
a wavy ribbon. Can we identify with this? Definitely!
We give HOPE to our children by being obedient ourselves. We need to give
our children responsibility, encouragement, Love, and respect. We will
see the hope when the seed begins to grow! And, now, what a JOY when you
can watch your children planting the seeds of JOY themselves!!
Job Opening at C.C.S.
