SHORT  BY
STUFF   DAVE SHANER

Last week, I announced my resignation as the pulpit minister of this congregation effective at the end of August. Effective September 1, we will be moving to the Seattle area where I will be the new preacher for the church in Bellevue, Washington. This was a very difficult decision for me and my family. We have ministered with the church here for over 26 years. Many have asked why we are making such a move. We have been able to see the church here through some difficult times. But by far the vast majority of the times have been positive. All of us serve the kingdom of God but in different ways. But there is no such thing as a stress free job. Jesus himself said, 'In the world, you will find tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. - John 16:33. The reason we have troubles from time to time is because, if you are serving the kingdom of God, the devil will make sure that you have opposition. But overall, if Jesus is your Lord, despite what is happening on the outside, peace will always reign on the inside. Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of God.

Decisions on how best to serve God are often difficult. We need to seek God's will in everything that we do. Sometimes, you have many good options. You pray and seek the advice of both God and trusted fellow servants of God. There comes a time when a decision has to be made. Sometimes the decision is easy. Other times you are confronted with several good options. I am convinced that as long as you are basing it on God's will, He will go with your decision. But we also know that God opens and closes doors. In Acts 16, Paul wanted to go east into Asia, but God closed that door and opened the door into Macedonia. At this time, God has opened a door for us for service in Bellevue. We don't know what all the future holds for us, but we do know that God is bigger than any one person or family. We are confident that the church here in Dalton Gardens will flourish. In time, whoever comes here to be your preacher will be blessed beyond measure because God has big plans for this church. All of you will always be close to our hearts because we are family. Families cry together, laugh together, work together and pray together. You will always be in our prayers.

Have a Great Week for God!!

Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. - 1 Timothy 3:16

Good News!
The angels in heaven rejoiced as Kristina Wilson was baptized into Christ last Wednesday evening by Warren Brown. Be sure to welcome Kristina into the family of God.

Come Hiking With Us!!!
All are invited to join us for the Annual Mallard-Larkin hiking trip. We are planning on leaving on Sunday, July 17 right after church. Trip time will be 4-5 days. Number of lakes visited: 8-9. Fishing is memorable. This is the Mallard-Larkin Pioneer area. It is the divide between the St. Joe and the Clearwater drainage. For more information see Don Flanagan.

Shepherd's Corner
Ecclesiastes teaches us 'for everything there is a season . . . a time to get and a time to lose' Ecclesiastes. 3:6. So it is with faithful preachers, a time to get by hiring. Dave was hired twenty-six years ago and now it is time to lose him to another congregation. He resigned Sunday, July 3.

Dave has not shunned to declare unto us all the counsel of God (Acts 20:27) over the many years. Dave and Kathy also have left deep positive impressions on our hearts and souls. It can well be said they left their footprints in the sands of Dalton family time. They both have labored diligently, tirelessly, and conscientiously in holding up Christ in their productive lives. They shall be missed but not forgotten. We wish them well in their work in Bellevue, Washington. They will be with us till the end of August. May the Lord continue to bless you both as you labor in the vineyard of the Lord.

Youth Scoop.....
(I Corinthians 13:1-8)
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Due to the many characteristics of love that are given in this chapter, it is sometimes referred to as the 'Love Chapter.' It is an uplifting chapter that emphasizes the true value and purity of Love. But when's the last time that you stopped to consider the fact that all of those characteristics are qualities of God himself? According to 1 John chapter 4, God IS love. It's something we've all heard many times, but perhaps we fail to apply it as often as we should. Take just a minute, read the verse above again, and substitute 'God' for 'love.' It should read something like this: 'God is patient, God is kind. He does not envy, he does not boast, he is not proud, God never fails.' That simple connection and understanding makes quite a bit of difference for me. It's definitely easier for me to trust a God that I know is patient, kind, and selfless. However, perhaps the most significant application to my life is made in the first three verses. 'if I have not love, I am nothing.' 'If I don't have God -- I'm nothing.' It doesn't matter what else I do -- If I neglect God, I neglect everything. Don't miss out!

Garden of Prayer Request
We are breaking it down to the simple. The amount of work is too much for just a few and we need EVERYONE's assistance so that we may be able to get other areas done before winter. Look on the board for a small part of what you can do. It's called 'KEEPER OF'. Many thanks to those who already have a lot on their plate, but are helping anyway! We are only asking for 20 to 30 minutes a week and in some areas just per month.
