SHORT BY
STUFF DAVE SHANER
This has been a week of intensive prayer. It seems that Satan and his
forces have had their day lately. Many things have gone awry that are
not in keeping with God's will. Continue to keep the Shasta and Dylan
Groene children in your prayers that they may be found alive and well.
Also Jeff Almond, grandson of Jim and Jan Almond, was run over by a car
several times and is in critical condition. Ask God to make him well
again. We live in troubled times. They are not unique times. It is just
that some times the situation hits home a little closer than others.
People need the Lord. The prince of the power of the world loves to see
pain and heartache. The pleasures of sin last only for a season. The
consequences often last a lifetime. Sin is much more than an isolated
act of disobedience to God. It is a power that threatens your very soul.
It is a power that never lets up once the dastardly deed is done. It is
a power that hovers over the earth. Worldwide, terrorism is a continual
threat. Nationwide, violence and immorality seem to be winning. Even
locally, lately, we have seen murders take place, schools concerned, and
marriages threatened. Even the children of God are not immune from the
attacks of the evil one. He masquerades as an angel of light. - 2
Corinthians 11:14. It is important that we keep our Christian armor on
at all times. These things are not being said to discourage you but to
remind you that people need the Lord. I've read the end of the book. God
wins. Satan is cast into the pit. Despite the horrible things that
happen in this world, remember that "... our struggle is not against
flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces
of evil in the heavenly realms." - Ephesians 6:12. "For though we live
in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight
with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine
power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every
pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take
captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Corinthians
10:3-5.
Our mission is to lead people to Christ. People need the Lord.
Have a Great Week!!
Then he called the crowd to him along with his
disciples and said: 'If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself
and take up his cross and follow me.' - Mark 8:34

Sunday Night Live!
Tonight, we will be meeting at 5:30 p.m. for a time of worship and
encouragement. All of the LIFE groups will not be meeting so that
everyone can come. Michael Ward will be our special guest preacher. He
will be speaking on 'They Mystery Revealed.' We will also have a time of
singing and special prayers. Be sure to be here to encourage Michael as
well as each other.
Prayer Trios
To aid our prayer trios in praying for each other, you will find blue
prayer request slips in your mailbox or on the kiosk in the lobby.'
Please fill these out with any prayer or praise requests you may have,
then place the slips into the mailboxes of your prayer trio partners.'
Remember, they'll be much more effective in praying on your behalf if
you tell them what to pray for!' Let's continue lifting each other up in
prayer daily. You can find extra prayer request slips in a basket on the
table under the mission board.
Who's coming to dinner?
A sign-up on the kiosk is for everyone interested in hosting or being a
guest for dinner. Each month everyone's names who have signed up will be
randomly drawn from a hat. First draw will be host, and second draw will
be the guest. This will be a time to get to know each other and enjoy
each other's company, drawing us closer in our church family. Names will
start to be drawn the first of June. Once your names are drawn, the host
will be responsible to contact the guest to find an evening that is good
for both parties. 'And let us consider how we may spur one another on
toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some
are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another -- and all the
more as you see the Day approaching.' Hebrews 10:24-25. For more
information contact Paula Morris 664-1046 or Kim Borsheim 772-0785.

C.C.S. School News
What a great jog-a-thon we had. The kids all had a great time trying to
out lap each other, and exceed their personal best. It is fun to be
around all that encouraging and cheering. Some of the kids absolutely
amaze me. Two of my students: Bryce Gardener and Mason Frahm ran the
whole time. Completing 26 laps, which equals 6 1/2 miles!
But then these kids have been amazing me all year, especially their
reading skills. This may only be 4K, but most of these students can read
words and sentences.
These children all have bright futures ahead of them. I just thank our
Lord that I was able to walk with them for this very short period in
their abundant lives. Hope you are enjoying your Memorial weekend!
Love, Lynelle Dehlbom - 4K teacher
