Family News
May 22, 2005
SHORT BY
STUFF DAVE SHANER
We have several upcoming opportunities to develop
our relationship with God, as well as improve our service both individually
and as a church body. Next Sunday night will be our quarterly Sunday Night
Live program. Our LIFE groups will not be meeting so that all can attend
this. Also the annual Family Camp at Prince's Pine is next weekend. This
is both a spiritual weekend for your family as well as the opportunity to
get to know other Christians from other congregations.
Ian Bradshaw, the preacher form Pinehurst, Idaho will be preaching here
next week while I will be preaching there. Ian's wife, Jamie, teaches in
the Coeur d'Alene Christian School here. Both of them have been a wonderful
asset to the Lord's kingdom since they have been in the area.
Of course, one of the bigger events in the area is the reorganized Great
Northwest Evangelism Workshop (GNEW) July 27-30. Many of the best preachers
and teachers will be there such as Marvin Phillips, Jeff Walling, Lynn &
Jerry Jones, Jeff Hicks, Jim & Carolyn Hawkins among many others (including
Dave Shaner). It will be held on the campus of Pacific Lutheran University.
Affordable housing is available both on and off campus.
Be sure to come to the congregational meeting this afternoon. Many important
topics will be discussed. As a church, God has a purpose for us. There are
many agencies that do good works that glorify the Lord. Everything we do,
whoever it is with should be to honor Christ. But the church is the only
'agency' on earth that has the explicit charge from God to take the gospel
to the world. As such, we need to make sure that everyone know what is going
on so that we can be more effective in accomplishing our mission. We have
had several new baptisms and newer members lately reflecting that the church
here is doing better at our outreach. Be sure to welcome our new members
into the family here. If you are not currently attending a LIFE group, today
would be a good day to start.
Have a Great Week!
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well
with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
- 3 John 1:2

Good News!!
The angels in heaven rejoiced as Shannon Haas, wife of Mike Haas, was baptized
into Christ last Friday morning. Be sure to welcome Shannon into the family
of God.
Her address is:
1500 Thomas Ln.
Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815
Ph. #765-7731
Congregational Meeting
There will be a congregational meeting this afternoon, May 22nd at 3:30
p.m. Among the topics to be discussed include GNEW, the youth minister search,
the church plant, refurbishing the building, as well as open questions and
answers. Plan now to attend May 22nd! Everyone is welcome and encouraged
to attend. There will be ice cream served afterwards. The Sunday LIFE groups
will not be meeting today.
VBS Planning Meeting
There will be a Vacation Bible School planning meeting on Thursday, May
26 at 7:00 p.m. at Alyssa Frahm's house. If you are planning on being involved
with VBS, please be there. For any questions call Alyssa Frahm or Michelle
Kish.
Sunday Night Live!
Next Sunday evening, we will be meeting at 5:30 p.m. for a time of worship
and encouragement. All of the LIFE groups will not be meeting so that everyone
can come. Michael Ward will be our special guest preacher. Be sure to be
here to encourage him as well as others.
Baby Bottle Boomerang
Vanessa Borsheim has done the first part of her Senior project research
paper on Abortion. The other part she has been working and volunteering
(community service work) with the Open Arms Pregnancy Crisis Center. Nancy
Callis and Kim Borsheim are also involved with Open Arms.
From now until Father's Day, together these three ladies are asking for
your support and donations. Any one interested in taking a baby bottle home
to fill with their loose coins, dollars or checks and then bring it back
on Father's Day, Sunday, June 19th would help and be greatly appreciated.
They will be in the foyer after service.
FAMILY CAMP - MAY 27-30
This is a wonderful opportunity for your family to spend together in the
beautiful outdoor setting of Camp Prince's Pine on Lake Thomas. Christian
families from all over the Northwest will enjoy a weekend of fellowship
and fun. John Ives of the Valley congregation in Spokane is the director
and needs to hear from you if you plan to go. Registration forms are available
on the kiosk.
Who's coming to dinner?
A sign up on the kiosk is for everyone interested in hosting or being a
guest for dinner. Each month everyone's names who have signed up will be
randomly drawn from a hat. First draw will be host, and second draw will
be the guest. This will be a time to get to know each other and enjoy each
other's company, drawing us closer in our church family. Names will start
to be drawn the first of June. Once your names are drawn, the host will
be responsible to contact the guest to find an evening that is good for
both parties. 'And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward
love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in
the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another 'and all the more as
you see the Day approaching.' Hebrews 10:24-25. For more information contact
Paula Morris 664-1046 or Kim Borsheim 772-0785.

d'Alene Summer Theater's production of Some Enchanted Evening on June 16,
2005 at 7:30 PM. $11 of your $25 ticket price will go directly to the Coeur
d'Alene Christian School. Sign up at the kiosk and pay George Wuest by May
25, 2005 to reserve your seats. A no-host picnic will precede the event.

for emotional and spiritual healing for the family.

Dorothy Brotzman, a friend of Pat Irmer's, has cancer and is having chemo
treatments.
Jack Pierce needs our prayers that his foot will soon heal.
Opal Wilson is recovering at home.
Ben Evans, son of Bob and Candy Evans, is hoping for a teaching position
and needs prayers for his health.
Alyssa Frahm is recovering from knee surgery.
Jerri Gwin has been struggling with heart issues.
Remember to keep in your prayers: Mike Kish,
Matt Rude, Terry Morgan, Phillip
Kirkham, and Lamont Petersen Jr. who are serving in Iraq.
Pray for the Kabiye Christians and the
Team of Missionaries in Togo, West Africa. Keep David, Becky and
their family in your prayers as well as the other team members. Also,
pray that the government of Togo remains peaceful.
In Sympathy
Our thoughts and prayers are with Betty Williams and her son, Mike Williams,
in the death of his wife, Nancy. Remember to keep their family in your prayers
during this difficult time of loss.
Prayer Trios
To aid our prayer trios in praying for each other, you will find prayer
request slips in your mailbox or on the kiosk in the lobby. Please fill
these out with any prayer or praise requests you may have, then place the
slips into the mailboxes of your prayer trio partners. Remember, they'll
be much more effective in praying on your behalf if you tell them what to
pray for! Let's continue lifting each other up in prayer daily.

Search Committee Communications
Last Sunday afternoon many came to the open forum. Your interest and input are greatly
appreciated! Suggestions were received for:
A - Desired Programs / Activities of the Future
B - Candidate Qualification
/ Leadership Skills Desired
C - Other Considerations/ Suggestions.
Many
thanks to Terri Johnson, who handled the difficult task of recording comments
on the white boards plus thanks to Sally Archer and Dave Shaner who recorded
notes. Computer copies of meeting notes are available from the office upon
request.
Appreciated are those who indicated a willingness for being considered for
the committee and to those that gave suggestions for group representatives to
serve. Some twenty persons were identified as potential committee members. Contacts
are being made to firm up the final make-up of Search Committee. Hopefully,
the announcement of those willing to serve can be made at the 3:30 p.m.
congregational meeting today.

C.C.S. School
News
Another year has passed in the world of a kindergarten class. As with all
the years I've taught at CCS I have had another wonderful year teaching
kindergarten. I was blessed with great parents and their children, and we
have had some wonderful adventures in learning. I will be forever grateful
the day Mike Swaim and Shari asked me to teach at CCS. My spiritual growth grew by
teaching the most precious gift we are blessed with, children. From the
bottom of my heart Thank You for all the prayers through out this year.
I now have two years of college behind me and my career in counseling is
getting closer. I'm not returning to CCS, for I will be interning for my
degree. I will dearly miss the close family I have grown to love in so many....
ways. I will miss holding little hands, and skipping, and hugs for mending
and just because hugs.
Thanks Again,
Miss Utter
Garden of Prayer....
Any painters in the house? The design/construction committee is in need
of your help. Our beautiful Pavilion in the Garden of Prayer needs to be
stained. If there is anyone who has the equipment and is able to help in
this ministry by giving of their talents, God will greatly bless you for
it. The Garden is an ongoing ministry/project that not only can be used
as an outreach for others, but can edify each one of us by seeing the beauty
of each season that God has so richly blessed us with. Also, we can use
some help in weeding. If you could donate 15 minutes per week, and we all
work together, it makes light work. Please see Rick or Janet Blanchard,
or call (762-5096) to volunteer.
News from Togo
The David Reeves family and all the Togo team continue to be safe and healthy
at this time. Your prayers are powerful and appreciated. The Lord's work
among the Kabiye people is on-going in spite of the political unrest in
the country. There are still thousands of refugees remaining outside the
country, and there have been many arrests and disappearances, especially
in the areas around the capital city of Lome. As you know, the southern
mission team at Tabligo had to flee the country for a couple of weeks, but
were able to return last Saturday. They found their homes safe, and the
churches they worshiped with on Sunday were strong. Praise the Lord. Continue
to pray for political stability in Togo, and for our courageous warriors
doing the Lord's work in a difficult place.
Car Fund
A car account has been set up to purchase a new car for David and Becky
Reeves, missionaries in Togo, Africa. Their old vehicle is no longer dependable.
If you would like to contribute to this fund please make your check out
to the Richland Church of Christ and indicate on your check: Reeves' car
fund. Your donation is greatly appreciated! Kick-off - June 4th!
Come welcome our newest members of the youth group as the graduating sixth
graders join us. We'll leave the building at 10:00 a.m. for a day of water
skiing, swimming and hiking. Bring a sack lunch. We'll have a BBQ for dinner
followed by a devotional and end at 8:00 p.m. A HUGE thank you to the Fredrikson
s for hosting this event at their home.
