SHORT  BY
STUFF   DAVE SHANER

There are several events that are upcoming that merit your attention. First is our LTC Celebration tonight at 5:30 p.m. There will be a spiritual skit along with many scripture readings and songs for us to be encouraged by. Remember that our LIFE groups will not be meeting tonight to encourage your attendance at this event. Do come as it would be an encouragement to our young people. Also don't forget that we have a Prayer Breakfast that meets every Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m. at JB's Restaurant. The Cascade College Chorus will be here on May 3. The church in Sandpoint is hosting a Singing and Song Leading Seminar with Don Partain April 29-May 1. Also the 7th annual Spiritual Growth Workshop in Tacoma is April 21-24. The Pepperdine Lectures in Malibu, CA are May 3-7. A Marriage Enrichment Seminar will be in Missoula, MT on May 6-7. A little farther ahead are such events as Family Camp at Prince's Pine over the Memorial Day weekend. Our own Vacation Bible School will be July 11-14. A return of the Great Northwest Workshop (GNEW) will be July 27-30. In addition to these, of course, are our annual teen and preteen camp sessions. You can read about these in issues of our Family News bulletin or in flyers on the bulletin boards. You may also check the office for further details. I make you aware of these because as you plan your schedule, keep these events in mind. They are all designed to aid you in your walk with God and in fellowship with each other.
I appreciate your response to the start of our new sermon series on Living Life on Purpose. As we saw last week, we were created for the glory of God. Any time we sin, we rob God of His glory. I was asked if God creating us for his glory wasn't egotistical on His part. We serve a jealous God. It is true that He wants us exclusively as the objective of His affections. But unlike human jealousy, He has our best interest at heart. Whenever you praise God in your daily life, you are never cheated but are simply serving the purpose for which you were made. Anything not living out its intended purpose will only result in frustration. Live life every day for God on purpose. It will supply what you have always wanted as well.

Have a Great Week!!

'You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.' - Revelation 4:11

Ladies Fall Fellowship Meeting
There will be a Ladies Fall Fellowship meeting on Monday, April 11, 2005, at 6:30 p.m., in the kitchen at the church building. We will form committees and all ladies are encouraged to attend. Your input is very important. Please be thinking about where you would like to work this year. Latayne Scott will be our speaker for this year and her lessons for this year's session will be on Rahab. She lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is the author of 'The Red Cord of Hope'.

Shepherd's Corner
In life, we have no say in the family we're born into. But our Lord invites all mankind into the Family of God. It's a free gift through JESUS for all who believe, obey, repent and are baptized. Many SCRIPTURES verify this truth. Once in Christ's Church, our prayers for one another are essential. "Heavenly Father, we ask your blessings upon our families. Help us to be better parents and children, sisters and brothers, husbands and wives that we may strengthen one another. May our days together in the Dalton Church Family be filled with harmony, encouragement, patience, appreciation and unconditional love". We are truly a blessed family and we love each one of you with the Love of the Lord. -From the Elders

All Ladies Are Invited
The Ladies Sew In Love group is enjoying our 'Survey of the New Testament'. We're still working on Cuddle Bags and have delivered several to a foster home, and we're making quilts as well as our original lap robes. We made a scrapbooking basket for a fund raiser for Open Arms Pregnancy Center, and are putting the finishing touches on a man's tool basket for the C.C.S. school auction coming up soon. So guys, if you need hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, etc. this basket may be for you! Come to the auction April 22 and check it out.
We meet at 10:30 on Tuesdays and all ladies are invited. We'd love to have you join us at any time and especially for our monthly potluck next Tuesday, April 12. Call Lavina Dooley at 772-3757 or Loretta Lee, 762-0138 for directions.

Suggestions Needed
We would like to replace the curtains in the small auditorium. If you have any suggestions or would like to help in the planning, please see Mary Petersen or Betty Rude.

Keeping In Touch
We would like to send greetings to all of our friends at the church. We miss you more than words can convey. We are thankful for the bulletins you send to us. Opal is having problems with her health: she has pain in her shoulders and daily headaches. I am having back pains because my infusion pump does not have the proper medicine in it. They do not seem to be able to find the right medication to work. I can no longer drive our car and Opal does all the driving. However with the help of our Lord we continue our life together in a loving way. Our e-mail address is as follows--bonney84@aol.com. If any friends come this way, ring our door bell and Opal and I will make you welcome for as long as you can stay. In Christian Love, Fred and Opal Bonney and may the Lord continue to Bless Us All!

Gray Hair -- Splendor or Sign of Senility?
I get teased a lot about my gray hair, but that's okay.....better it turn gray than turn loose! On that subject, I really like and will share the following:

It was Solomon who wrote, 'The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old' (Proverbs 20:29). And yet it seems that gray hair is often not the sign of one serving, growing, and leading, but a signal for one to retire. Retirement often leads downhill. So, when someone asked me recently when I would think about retirement, I said, 'Never.' I may have to make a change or changes, but I won't retire.

Writing about his father, Charles Swindoll said:

I watched my own father cave in after he retired, as disorientation replaced definitive living. His sense of humor lost its keen edge. His once adventurous spirit turned to restlessness. He was lost without the plant superintendent giving him a to-do list every day as he showed up (always forty-five minutes early). No longer was there a shop whistle at quitting time or the grinding sounds of a turret lathe as dark blue chips of steel screamed while being stripped away. Now all was quiet. Desperately quiet. Maddeningly quiet. Not even television could fill the void. And it wasn't twelve months before the thief of senility began to steal away the man's drive. Oh, he lived many, many years beyond 65. But most of them, I'm saddened to say, were marked by tragic disorientation.

When you get gray hair you are in position to be of great service to God, His church and to other people. Whatever you do:

1. Don't Retire. Stay active. Find something that is positive, constructive, and do it. Get involved in the church as never before.

2. Wear Yourself Out. Don't rust out! Don't let TV sap your brain, your energy and your life. Serve as never before. There are people to visit, letters that need writing, telephone calls you can make, hospitals that need visitors, mission trips to take, yard work around home or the church building, benevolent programs crying for someone to take charge of, etc.

3. 'Finish well!' Balaam said of Jacob, 'Let me die the death of the upright, And let my end be like his!' (Numbers 23:10)

Let your gray hair be glorious!

CAMP PRINCES' PINE
SPECIAL CONTRIBUTION
April 17th

So many in this congregation have enjoyed activities at Camp Princes' Pine. The camp has been a part of our spiritual lives for 25 years. It would be interesting to know how many from Dalton Gardens were baptized there or as a result of spending a week there. Many have served as counselors or cooks at the camp, and hundreds have attended as campers. It has been a source of blessings to so many.

The cost of construction, upkeep, and improvements has been borne by individuals over the years, as we have continually tried to keep camper fees at a minimum. This year the board felt compelled to raise the fee from $65 to $75 per camper, per week, and we need the assistance of all congregations who use the camp to pay for some much-needed repairs and updating of bathroom facilities.

Your help is needed on April 17th for a special contribution to help with the good work at Camp Princes' Pine. Plan ahead, and make checks payable to Northwest Christian Camp (NWCC), and let's keep our camp in good repair, and on strong financial footing.

PRAISES ASCENDING TO GOD ABOVE
At the close of a day filled with challenging and inspirational teachings, participants in the Pepperdine Bible Lectures gather for refreshment in worship. Each night, May 3-6, thousands will praise our God together in Firestone Fieldhouse. After this full hour of songs, prayers, and a stirring theme lecture, there is still an assortment of exciting evening lectures and programs. To receive information about music groups and others, call Church Relations at (310) 506-4270, or visit http://www.pepperdine.edu/churchrelations.
