SHORT BY
STUFF DAVE SHANER
Last week's assemblies were very encouraging
to so many. We started with a Sunrise Service in the Prayer Garden. A special
thank you to the one's who braved the cold and rain to enjoy some praise
time together. We had several visitors from the community and, in a sense,
the bad weather created a special bond. We celebrated the resurrection of
Jesus at both services. Of course, we know our entire lives depend on the
death, burial and resurrection of Jesus which is what the gospel is - I
Corinthians 15:1-4. Whenever the apostles went into a city to proclaim the
message of Christ, their focus was on His resurrection.
The point is that we need to go back to basics
in a lot of our teaching. We spend a lot of time teaching good marriage
& parenting skills, money management skills, and helping our fellow man
in times of need. We encourage fellowship activities, social get-togethers,
as well as developing our singing abilities. These are good and need to
be practiced, but they do not amount to anything if Jesus was not raised
from the dead. Our teaching must focus on the gospel. Everything we do is
in the hope and confident expectation of living with God eternally. Christ's
death, as a sacrifice of atonement, made us acceptable before God. His resurrection
conquered the big one, our own fear of death. We need to experience that
reality every day. Paul said, "I want to know Christ and the power of his
resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like
him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the
dead." - Philippians 3:10-11.
Several events are upcoming that are worth your
consideration. The first is the Pepperdine Lectures May 3-7 in Malibu, California.
Many of the best preachers and teachers in the Lord's church will be there.
Also the Marriage Enrichment Seminar with Carl Brecheen and Paul Faulkner
will be in Missoula, Montana May 6-7. They have helped many marriages to
experience greater fulfillment and joy. Later in July there will be a return
of GNEW, the Great Northwest Evangelism Workshop, in Tacoma. These require
some time off and are some distance away, but your faith will be strengthened
if you would take the time to attend one of these premier events.
Have a Great Week!
A man can do nothing better than to eat and
drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand
of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? - Ecclesiastes 2:24-25

Shepherd's Corner
In 2004 all members of the Dalton Church Family were provided an informational
copy of the "core values" of this Church. Of primary importance is the fact
that the BIBLE is our only guide (no additional
creed is needed.) Under the overriding principles of the Bible, our Mission
Statement provides guidance to establish priorities for needed work and
expenditures. As a reminder, our mission statement reads: "We see the Dalton
Gardens congregation as a Christ focused family committed to Winning the
Lost, Maturing the Saints, and Knitting the Body together in love. PURPOSE:
Colossians 1:28 "We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with
all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ." As a church,
we all have important work to do for the Lord.
-From the Elders

Spring Break
The break has been refreshing and several projects are in the works. Thursday,
Dan and Teri worked on installing the reading comprehension and typing programs.
A shipment of Box Tops were mailed out with a total worth of $435. With
renewed energy and spirit, the teachers will surely have fresh ideas to
use in their classrooms. Sandra Welch has made our classrooms nicer places
to teach and learn. Our windows sparkle!
The first and second graders will soon get a nice surprise. Before the
end of 2004, they collectively read "100" books and were promised two special
items for the classroom. The girls chose a "Princess Castle" and the boys
chose a "Triplane" kite. As a bonus, they will be getting a child-size stoplight
bank that really lights-up as they put in their coins for kids contributions.
The "Summer Fun Program" is on its way. Jamie Bradshaw and Patty Welter
will be doing the program together. Teri Dupey will pop in to teach special
classes and act in a supervisory capacity. For more details, stop by the
C.C.S. office for a registration form.
