SHORT  BY
STUFF   DAVE SHANER

The turnout last week for the new member fellowship was great. Sometimes man has a tendency to look at our problems. We all have them. All churches have them. Yet when we have special get-togethers such as last week, we are reminded of just how much we really have, not of what we don't have. The family of God is what the church is all about. We are a group of people called out of the world by the love of God and the sacrifice of Christ to be a people for His own possession. Many people claim to have a relationship with Christ yet want little to do with his family. Jesus is saying that if you desire me, you must desire my family. It is not an either/or situation. It is an all or nothing situation. The apostle John worded it this way, "You can not love God whom you have not seen if you do not love man whom you have seen." - I John 4:20. Commit yourself not only to the Lord with all your heart but to the brothers and sisters as well. I would like to give a special thank you to Ralph Crump for his preaching last week in my absence but also for his part in putting the new member fellowship together.

I will be in Memphis this week taking a continuing education course at the Harding Graduate School. Next Sunday will be the conclusion of our annual MIQVAH (water of life) youth rally. Our assembly worship services will start at 9:30 next week. Scott Rouse will be preaching on heaven and I will be preaching on forgiveness. There will be no separate Bible classes for 7th grade through adult. Be sure to be here on time. Everyone, not just teens, is invited to attend the rally. It is very encouraging to see young people who are on fire for the Lord. The singing is always great and the lessons will be very practical. The theme for MIQVAH is "Everyone Is Normal until You Get to Know Them." God defines the norm. When we stray from His will, we venture in to the abnormal. When we leave God, we become abnormal. Jesus came to take us back to normality. If you would like to help out with the rally, be sure to see Mike Reeves or anyone in the youth group about what you can do to help. You are welcome to come to any part of it. It is a very encouraging event that benefits the entire church.

Have a Great Week!!!

As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right.  -1 Samuel 12:23

New Picture Board
We're now in the process of adding pictures to our new picture board which is located in the main foyer. If you did not appear in our last pictorial directory or your marital/family status has changed, be sure to get your picture taken as soon as possible. At this time we will only be taking pictures of those who haven't had their pictures taken yet or whose family status has changed. We will be offering retakes at a later date. Thanks. Dave Hopkins, from the communication ministry, will be available for picture taking down in the kitchen following our Sunday morning church service today.

Shepherd's Corner
IS 'GO YE' (Go me) FRUITFUL?
It would be difficult to imagine that Jesus commanded Christians to do something that would be unfruitful. The message of the New Testament is that when Christians go they bear fruit. John 15:1-6

1. Jesus was fruitful with Zacchaeus. 'This day is salvation come to this house....' Luke 19:9
2. Jesus was fruitful with the woman at the well. The women concluded.... 'come see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?' John 4:29
3. Ananias was fruitful with his person to person studies with Paul. Paul's answer to the invitation... 'now why tarriest thou? Arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord'. So Paul then obeyed and was baptized.
4. Priscilla and Aquila, husband and wife personal workers, were successful with Appollos after they... 'expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.' Acts 18:26 The married couple as personal workers produced fruit. Do you want to go?

Each elder, preacher, deacon, Bible school teacher, personal worker, Christian, from whatever walk of life, they will have to answer this question for himself. Jesus would have you answer 'yes'.

Tsunami work through Jim Rude
Our brother Jim was again obstructed from getting to India as the government rejected his visa application. His contacts with Gopala Raju, working in India's northern portion of Andhra Pradesch, and G.B. Singh, in southern part of same district, resulted in our contributions being most helpful. To date Jim has sent $2800 equally divided between these brothers. Dr. Raju writes he has gone into the areas devastated three times making distribution of clothes, medicines and cooking materials. His appreciation is great - "In this situation I specially thankful and grateful to my good friend and Brother Jim Rude, who took initiation in this." G.B. Singh communicates of his being continuously on the move to help tsunami victims. He tells of a small fishing village of 200 persons, 50 of whom were baptized in 1998, being totally washed away. Yet, there were survivors which he found on 5th of February living on a hill under a tree. 'Medicines, rice and bed sheets for their physical needs were provided. The spiritual needs of worship together was accomplished on Sunday the 6th of February. To read more of these two Lord's workers' reports, see letters posted on the Mission Bulletin Board.

MIQVAH 2005!

March 11th - 13th, ........ next weekend!!!!
Dalton Gardens' 27th annual Youth Rally! This year's theme .....

'EVERYBODY'S NORMAL
TILL YOU GET TO KNOW THEM'

As always, the youth rally requires the cooperation of our whole church family. PLEASE plan to host some of our guests in your home. We now have enough housing for about 100 teens, but that is not adequate. Your help is needed! Sign the list on the kiosk or talk to one of the teens. There is an information sheet on the kiosk to help you know what is expected. And, we need COOKIES for Friday night.

FYI - Different schedule MIQVAH Sunday
As always, because of so many guests, the schedule will be different on Sunday, March 13th, as follows:

9:30 REGULAR CHILDREN'S CLASSES
9:30 CLASS FOR 7TH GRADE - ADULTS IN LG. AUD.
10:30 WORSHIP IN LG. AUD. BIBLE HOUR IN SM. AUD.

LTC Phoenix Convention is March 24th - 27th. We have some students who still need help with their plane fares. If you can help out in this way, please let us know. $10 or $300 would be great!

Just for a chuckle:
Sunday after church, a mom asked her very young daughter what the preacher's lesson was about. The daughter answered, 'Don't be scared; you'll get your quilt.' Needless to say, the mom was perplexed. Later in the day the preacher stopped by to visit the little girl's family, and mom asked him what the morning's lesson was about. He said, 'I will send the comforter unto you.'
We chuckle, but a big question in my mind is, 'Why wasn't the mom at worship with her daughter? Sending our children to church may be better than them not attending at all, but it is so much better when the whole family attends.

Another chuckle: The minister was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to ask the congregation for more money to pay for unexpected building repairs. He was further annoyed by finding that the regular organist was sick and a substitute was brought in at the last minute. He gave the new guy a copy of the service and said, 'Do the best you can, but you'll have to think of a song to play after I make the announcement about finances.
During the service the minister paused and said, 'Brothers and sisters, we are in great difficulty. The roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected, and we need an additional $4000 dollars. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand.'
At that moment the substitute organist played, 'The Star Spangled Banner.' That's how the substitute became the new organist.

C.C.S. School News
My K4 class has been learning and growing at an awesome pace. It has been fun watching their personalities bloom and blossom. I have enjoyed following their accomplishments. For example: My 4 and 5 year olds are reading three letter words and even sentences. Imagine my pleasant surprise as I was introducing a new sentence, they had it read and quoted before I could help them sound out the first word. Wow! I am looking forward to seeing how much more they can accomplish. I am also looking forward to the talent show and science/art fair which will be presented on March17th. Come for a great evening of student accomplishments. Love, Lynelle Dehlbom

Kathy Taylor needs fiberfill for a science/art project for her 3rd grade class. If you have any to donate, it would be greatly appreciated.

Food Pantry Needs:
The pantry is in need of canned fruit, chili, macaroni & cheese, tuna, spaghetti sauce, cake mix, pork & beans and canned milk. Please place these items in the blue donation tub located in the foyer. We are so blessed by all that you give!
