SHORT BY
STUFF DAVE SHANER
It was very encouraging to see the list of names
that so many of you turned in the be prayed for. We have seen over the past
few weeks that if we are to become a fisher of men that three things have
to be present. First we must want to catch fish. Second we must be willing
to learn how to catch fish. And thirdly we must expect to catch fish. That
sense of expectancy comes from a commitment to our mission and an abiding
faith in the promises of God. Part of the Great Commission in Matthew 28:20
is that Jesus would be with us to the very end of the age. His mission was
to seek and save the lost - Luke 19:10. We are simply His ambassadors and
coworkers spreading the news - II Corinthians 5:20-6:1.
Every good thing happens because people pray for the activity of God to
work in their lives. Some of you have written and called to be a part of
the work of prayer on behalf of the souls each of you turned in. If, as
a group, we can pray for these to come to Christ, it will happen. We will
be having some lessons these next few weeks that will be specific with our
message we need to share. If you have the desire and expect God to work
in your life, then let's learn together how we can better communicate the
message. Be sure to start inviting your friends to come with you to church.
They will hear the gospel.
On February 27, we will have a special fellowship dinner honoring all the
new members we have gained over the last year. If you have been baptized
in the last year or are simply new to this local body of believers, you
are our honored guest. This will be a potluck, following shortly after our
morning services that day. Be sure to clear your calendar to be present
on that day. It is important that we know each other well for us to work
together.
Our LIFE group leaders have targeted April as a time to multiply our groups.
We want to reach out into our community like we have not done so before.
If you are not a part of a LIFE group already, do so today. A list of leaders
is found on the back of this Family News. If you are not sure which group
to join see myself or ask any of those leaders and they will direct you
to one that will fit you.
Have a Great Week!!
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into
the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness
of sins.
-Colossians 1:13-14

to plan for this summer's VBS. We are going with a whole new approach this
year. We need volunteers for all kinds of jobs, both big and small. Make
plans to join us this Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Michelle Kish's house
to start the planning. Anyone interested in helping with any part of VBS
is needed at this meeting. Please come!

you would like to donate new or used books, no older than 8 years, the library
will be happy to take them: Max Lucado, F. LaGard Smith; books on Jesus,
how to study the Bible, and the Holy Spirit. Please leave them in the library
and they will be cataloged and put on the shelf. Thanks, Irene Clark.
Shepherd's Corner
WHAT CAN I DO??? Jesus challenges us 'As you did it to one of the least
of these... you did it to me.' (Matt. 25:40).
You have a car and could drive a neighbor to the store or to a doctor's
appointment. Or maybe you have a lawnmower or snow blower and can mow at
the right seasons or plow snow in this winter season. You can send cards
and can send a note to brighten someone's day. You have a phone and can
call to talk to someone who is lonely. The list of possibilities for serving
your neighbor can go on and on.
We don't have to be great public speakers to positively impact others or
our communities for Christ. We can use the resources and talents God has
given us to reach out to others. Often a helping hand will be remembered
longer than eloquent Bible teaching. MY CHALLENGE TO ALL OF US IS TO PRAY
ASKING GOD TO REVEAL A NEED THAT ONLY YOU CAN MEET FOR SOMEONE. Remember
that everyone who God calls He also equips. AND WHERE GOD GUIDES GOD PROVIDES.
He will give you all you need to serve others. All you have to do is ask
and follow his leading. See Matt. 7:7.
'GO LABOR ON: SPEND AND BE SPENT THY JOY TO DO THE FATHER'S WILL; IT IS
THE WAY THE MASTER WENT; SHOULD NOT THE SERVANT TREAD IT STILL?
-From the Elders
Dear Friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone
who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does
not know God, because God is love.
-1 John 4:7-8
MISSION REPORT FROM TOGO.....
The Lord's work in Togo is shared by two teams:
The Northern Team with David & Becky Reeves and the other three families
of co-workers.....and The Southern Team also with four families in the work.
There has been great progress in both places.
However, at this time, there is political unrest in Togo because of the
death of their President / dictator of 40 years. President Eyadema's son
and the army has seized power, and illegally taken control of the government.
The Organization of African Nations has condemned the action, and demanded
that a constitutional election process be taken. International sanctions
are being threatened.
In spite of this, and their uneasiness about the instability, the mission
teams are tying to continue the Lord's work among the Kabiye and Watche
people. At this point, things are quiet, and all are safe. Praise God for
the wonderful families at work in the mission fields of Togo, for His blessing
of protection in their lives, and for our Togolese Christian brothers and
sisters there. Keep them in your daily prayers.

Mike's Memos.....
Sometimes our agenda gets too full!!! Here's the way it looks right now........
LTC Sweetheart Banquet Feb. 12th - DONE!
And we appreciate, Patty Welter, Kim McIntire, Kim Howard and Robert Frisk
for helping our LTC group get it all done. Thanks to those who were our
guests, and contributed to LTC funds. The slaves who were auctioned off
are willing and ready to serve (I hope!) Please let us know how to coordinate
their service.
Senior High Boys Service Retreat - DONE! and we appreciate John Simpson
for his work in helping make this happen. It was a relaxing weekend, but
we did get the wood supply cut, split and stacked as well as some other
service projects done.
All Teens' Mid-Winter Retreat February 18 - 20 is next weekends' event for
all our teens and the friends they invite. Yes, we are told there is over
a foot of good snow at Camp Princes' Pine! So it will be a 'winter' retreat
after all. Thank you, Lord!
February 25th and 26th all who can from our 3rd through 12th grade Wednesday
Night Bible Bowl Class will go to Richland for A Bible Bowl Challenge over
Luke chapters 12 - 20. We will be spending Friday night with members of
the Richland church.
March 11th - 13th, only a month away, is MIQVAH 2005! and this will be our
27th annual Youth Rally! This year's theme .....
'EVERYBODY'S NORMAL
TILL YOU GET TO KNOW THEM'
As always, the youth rally requires the cooperation of our whole church
family. PLEASE start now to plan for hosting some of our guests in your
home. Your help is needed!
And... LTC Phoenix Convention is March 24th - 27th. We have some students
who need help with their plane fares. If you can help out in this way, please
let us know. $10 or $300 would be great!
There's also a birthday party or two in the middle of all of that! Happy
Big 18th Connor Morris!!! And Happy 16th to Fares Al-Samno & Joleen Reeves!
Whew!!!! if we make it to the first of April, we'll try to take a breath!!
Yeah, it's a little much all at once. But because of no snow, we postponed
our winter events and crowded our schedule. We do have snow at camp now,
so I hope it was worth it. Pray for us during this blitz.
C.C.S. CORNER SCHOOL NEWS
Our third grade class has been, and will continue to be very busy for the
next few weeks. Over the past week we have been to the grocery store for
a project connected with our new reading book, Because of Winn-Dixie, and
to Tomato Street for a class field trip with the K-4 class. We all really
enjoyed our tour of the restaurant and three students even got to help make
pizzas that we all shared. Last week we also began a unit on bats. We will
be doing activities across the curriculum with this for the next few weeks
in preparation for our school science fair on Thursday, March 17th. Mark
your calendars and be sure to stop by our display!
In addition to our bat unit, we will keep busy over the next month with
field trips to the Children's Science Museum in Spokane and skating with
our whole school. This week we are also set to receive a plaque of appreciation
from Lifeline of Hope for the money we were able to raise for them during
the craft fair in December.
The spring stretch is always a busy and challenging time for both student
and teacher, so please keep CCS in your prayers.
Information regarding the Auction can be found on the C.C.S. bulletin board
in the foyer. Donations are now being excepted for the C.C.S. 2005 Auction.
Please see Georgette Rude. Thanks!
Thank Yous!
What a nice church family. For those who prayed for me, visited, phoned,
and/or sent cards after my knee surgery - THANK YOU! And a special thanks
for the numerous visits by my 'back row seat partner', Betty Wilhoite.
-Edna Miner
I want to thank everyone for the prayers regarding my knee. I thank the
Lord I don't need to have surgery - I can live without my ACL! My range
of motion has already improved and I will continue in physical therapy and
I'm confident, because of my family here - my brothers and sisters in Christ
- with prayer I will be made like new.
-Carrie Forbush
I would like to thank all of you who have kept me in your prayers as I recover
from a car accident on Jan 5th... I am recovering, and know that patience
will allow me to have a complete recovery. Thank you so much for your prayers.....
what a wonderful feeling to know so many have been praying for me! I am
overwhelmed. Thank you.
