SHORT  BY
STUFF   DAVE SHANER

We appreciate all of those who contributed toward the Lifeline of Hope. Members of the churches of Christ nationwide are seeking to help Lifeline raise $1 million today to help those children who are without parents to care for them. All of the board of Lifeline are faithful members of the church of Christ. Administrative expenses are taken care of by a generous board member. Thus 100% of the funds donated today go directly to the children either in the form of clothing, food, or medicine. Although funds for Lifeline have not come directly from the Dalton church's general fund, still many members have made separate contributions on an individual basis to the church to be given to Lifeline. We have averaged about $500 a month over the course of the year to benefit them.

The following is a letter from the Russian Federation Health Department:

I would like to express my gratitude and admiration for your generous financial gift. It provided much needed help and support for our orphaned children. Thanks to the monetary gift from your foundation, it provided our orphans with fresh fruit and juices of various kinds. It was a delicious and nutritious improvement to the children's menu. These orphaned children are growing bigger and stronger, with more feeling of satisfaction because of your gift bringing better nutrition.

A group of our children was immunized with the vaccination, which was a gift from your foundation. Our detailed records clearly show that there was a 45% reduction in illness of the lungs, such as bronchitis, compared to the group of children that was not immunized. Careful observation of the children who were immunized showed more rapid recoveries from virus related infections.

Thank you for the kindness and caring for our children.

Sincerely,
The Director
T.N. Nickolaevskaya

James says "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." - James 1:27. Christianity is not just a matter of the heart but the heart finding expression in helping real people.

Have a Great Week!!

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.  -James 1:27

Time for Christmas Wish Lists!
Every year we like to reach out to families who may have had a hard year and would like a little help from their brothers and sisters in making their children's wishes come true. Wish lists can be filled out for your children or a family you know of in need. Requests are anonymously placed on ornaments and will be hung on the church's Christmas tree. It is an exciting time where everyone receives a special gift. There is true happiness in buying a gift for a child you don't know! You can find wish list forms available on the church kiosk and return them to the church office by November 28. If you have any questions, please call Lorraine Robinson (208) 691-8719.

Ladies' Craft Day!
Bring your projects and join the fun! This Saturday, November 20th, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the kitchen. You should bring your craft supplies, a lunch, a dish to share for a potluck supper, and a small craft supply item to donate as a prize for lots of drawings. There will be craft bingo, snacks, fellowship and lots of fun! If you're not a crafter, come and learn something new. Join us for all or part of this fun-filled (and productive) day. All are welcome, so bring a friend.

Shepherd's Corner
Each month a different elder chairs the elders' meetings, we refer to him as the EIC (Elder In Charge). If you would like to ever be placed on the agenda of their meeting please contact the EIC. The EIC for this month is Don Rude and I approve this message.

BIBLE BUILDERS MEMORY VERSES
Children's Sunday A.M. Bible Classes
For the month of November - Genesis 50:20

3 years - K: 'God intended it for good ... to save many lives.'

1st - 3rd Grade: 'You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good.'

4th - 6th Grade: 'You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is not being done, the saving of many lives.'

Men are alike in their promises.
It is only in their deeds that they differ.

The following little story challenges us to really live what we believe........

Adrian Thomas had seen enough. The third - generation owner of Thomas Drug Store in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania, came to a fateful conclusion one winter day in 1992. He realized he was tired of losing friends to cancer and heart disease. For 96 years, his family had sold tobacco products in the front of the store and health products in the back. He just could not do both anymore.

Therefore Thomas, his employees, and family members loaded up $2,000 worth of cigarettes, cigars, snuff, and pipe-tobacco products into boxes and took them to a parking lot to be burned. To get the fire going, Thomas first set a match to his state license to sell tobacco. Then he used the burning document to set aflame the pile of boxes.

As he watched the stash go up in smoke, Thomas told his family and employees that he could not put dollars and cents above the health of his patrons.

Nearly everybody proclaims with their mouths the importance of doing the right thing - even if it cost them something. Adrian Thomas is one of those who put his money where his mouth was.

Coming Youth Events:

'Come Before Winter' Retreat
Nov. 19th - 21st

Don & Betty Rude and Eldon & Ruby Rude have graciously agreed to allow the youth group to use their cabins on the St. Joe River in St. Maries again this year for our 'Come Before Winter' retreat. We will be leaving on the youth bus at 3:30 pm, on Friday, November 15th, and returning on Sunday afternoon, November 17th. This is a spiritual retreat, not a party. We will have lots of fun, but you should go expecting / desiring to grow in your faith, and to be drawn closer to one another and to God in spiritual relationships. This weekend's challenging theme will be. 'What Is Spirituality?' I pray that all our teens will make this event a priority.

BRING: your Bible, a sleeping bag and pillow, toiletries....including your towel and wash cloth, some grubby clothes for playing outside, as well as some inside clothes. Cost - $10.

Bible Bowl Challenge with Richland
Dec. 11th

It is only four weeks until the teens from Richland will come to challenge us on our knowledge of the first ten chapters in the book of Luke. In an effort to motivate us to study, and be better prepared for this Bible Bowl, I have made an outrageous offer! WE WILL HAVE AN EXHAUSTIVE TEST OVER LUKE 1 - 10 on December 8th. AND.... all those kids and adults who make 80% or above will be invited to participate in a food fight!!! out on the playground. OOOHHH Macaroni! ooooOOO mashed potatoes! AAAHHH Oatmeal!!!! It will be fun. AND, those who make 90% or above will get to choose what color they can dye and style my (Mike Reeves') hair!!! And I promise to wear it to church one time that way!

Have I lost my mind? Am I crazy? Yes, I'm crazy to get you guys to learn God's word! Will you accept the challenge?

Teens and others Ski trip
December 20th

Thank You ....Too many cards have been received from our Senior Saints to print them all, but they have been passed on to the teens, and your gratitude has been noted and appreciated. We are glad the Keenage Banquet was an enjoyable time for all. We certainly enjoyed serving you, and once again thank you for your examples to us. Notice the youth bulletin board in the upper foyer for some memories.

C.C.S. CORNER SCHOOL NEWS
Relationships

This week the 1st -3rd Bible class is studying about relationship in prayer... A little scuffle happened just prior to our Monday's class that made a perfect lesson on how to have a good relationship with our friends...So, we talked about a story that we were all familiar with... "Mean Jean the Recess Queen" had never experienced unconditional love until one day the "new" girl loved her despite herself. Maybe she went to Bible classes and knew that God wanted her to be loving no matter what the response. And Jean changed. We should look to the other person's needs before our own as we learned from Jesus as he washed his disciple's feet. The 3rd grader's verse is about the Father being tender and kind to those who respect him.'' Are we being tender and kind? Are we respecting each other? Can a good relationship just happen? No! Our Father wants a relationship with us. He wants to hear what is on our hearts, what is important to us... Even though he knows our hearts, he give us a choice and respects that freedom. Thomas Taylor has given many prayers from his heart in our chapel program. His prayers are very specific and original. So original you could not help but giggle a bit... Even so, he has been a good example to all the student body. God does not want our prayers filled with empty words repeated over and over with little or no thought. I am so blessed to be where the little ones can inspire.

I love my work! I love His work! How can I be so blessed? Every day is a joy!
The people I work with are fun! But more than anything, they are the brothers and sisters that will listen and act! I thank God daily that I have this opportunity to minister to the little ones and that they in turn help me to grow. The struggles seem miniscule compared to the blessings. Come visit us. Get a glimpse of the special relationships that are a part of our day's routine. C.C.S. is truly a special place.

The parents and church have been so supportive with their time and donations. I thank God for you and all you do to make the school a better place.

-Teri DuPey
