SHORT  BY
STUFF   DAVE SHANER

Special kudos to the Wuest family and all of the Fellowship ministry who helped to make our annual Farragut Campout a success. Among some of the activities were Frisbee Golf, Horseshoes, Mexican Train, eating together, singing, praying, and honoring God. It was very enjoyable for all of those involved.

We would like to encourage all of you to fill out an attendance card when you come to church services. In a church of this size it is easy not to realize when someone is missing. The elders are having these cards logged so they can be able to know if someone is slipping in their attendance. Certainly church attendance is not the sum measure of Christianity but it is one of the first visible warning signs. I asked a person recently if they were going to fill out their card and they responded, "No, I don't worry about those things." We tend to be private people not wanting others to keep tabs on us, but we make the elders job more difficult if we don't cooperate with them on this. Admittedly, we have been confusing each week on changing how the cards are to be handed in. Please be patient with us as we refine this. These cards are also a communication tool for prayer requests.

It was great to be able to see Bob Brown and Louise Tallent be untied in marriage. They will be gone for a short while but it is always good when Christians unite together to help fulfill God's purposes in their lives. They are both a great example of allowing Christ to use them. They teach a LIFE group on Thursday evening and are two of the leaders in the Soup Kitchen on Wednesday nights. Be sure to let them know how much you appreciate them.

Next week, we will be starting some new Sunday and Wednesday Bible classes. On Sundays, Arrty Rude and Dan Dupey will lead a textual study of Romans. Also Mike Swaim and Dave Shaner will lead a series of topical studies involving current controversial subjects. Included in these will be subjects such as, "Can I be a Christian without being baptized?", cloning, stem cell research, "Can a Christian kill in a time of war?" Now would be a great time to start becoming a regular participant in our classes.

Have a Great Week!!!

'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.'  -John 3:16

Our Ladies Fall Fellowship is Saturday, October 2, from 9:00 am till 3:00 pm. It is an important time for our ladies to share with each other as they encourage, strengthen and help each other to grow as Christian sisters. You can do your part as the spiritual leader in your home to make a special time for the women in your life by:

1. Encouraging your wives and daughters to attend.
2. Making it possible with your help at home.
3. Contacting George Wuest or the Men's Ministry to help with setting-up, taking-down and cleaning-up.

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies!

We would like to have a 'Fun' monthly ladies newsletter. But we need your input! We need several things before we can get started. Such as, a name for the newsletter, articles, news, poems, encouragements to each other, etc. Please give your inputs and suggestions to Betty Rude or Irene Clark.

Shepherd's Corner

AFTER LIFE
Have you ever wondered what happens after we die physically? Where do we go and what happens when we get there? If this interests you, you will have an opportunity to discuss these and other questions starting September 22, 2004. Don Rude and LaMont Petersen will start a class on Wednesday nights titled 'After Life', which is taken from a book written by F. LaGard Smith. This should be a very interesting class because it challenges some of our thinking about the after life. If you have read this book, be sure to come and help discuss the issues. If you would like a copy of the book, they can be ordered from the office. God bless you and your families and have a great week.

-For the Shepherds

A Special Thanks!

Scriptures encourage us to show honor to whom honor is due. A BIG BOUQUET OF ROSES to George & Joanna Wuest for their planning and execution of a very successful Family Camp over Labor Day weekend. Their efforts resulted in many Christians and their families enjoying a great time together. Scriptures also admonish us to love and encourage one another. Thank you Wuest family for your service to the Lord that encourages us all. You are truly appreciated.

Fundamental Purity

Psalm 51:10  Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Purity is a subject that is woven into every facet of the Bible from cover to cover. Purity begins with, and is the essence of God. Man was originally created pure, and for those of us who have put our faith in Christ, we will return to total purity upon meeting Jesus in eternity, even while we strive toward purity in this life.

Webster's dictionary defines purity as being "thus and none other". It means to be of one essence; to be one thing and one thing only; free from contamination or mixture with any other thing.

To be thus and none other.

As Christians we are to be righteous, "thus and none other". We are to be like Christ, "thus and none other". We are to be holy, "thus and none other. We are to be Godly, "thus and none other".

Purity of life begins with cleanness of heart and that only comes with faith and repentance initiated through confession of sin (1 John 1.9), and actually beginning with the purifying blood of Christ by the washing of water in baptism. (I Pet. 3:18-21, and I Cor. 6:11) There are different types of purity and is it profitable for us to discover them. The first is "fundamental (basic or original) purity".

Fundamental purity is the purity of God. An accurate definition of "purity" would simply be "God". If something is like God, it is pure. The more like God it is, the more pure it is. God is the original source and essence of purity. Purity in this sense is not an attribute; it is a primal element. God is what everything pure is compared to in order to determine its purity.

This is not purity that is pure because all impureness has been removed. It is not purity because of continued successful effort to avoid impurity. No, this IS purity..... the source, the definition, the tangible origination of it.

Because of sin, there is no innate source of human purity apart from God. The best of our righteousness is as "filthy rags" (Isa 64.6).

Job asked, 'Can a mortal be more righteous than God? Can a man be more pure than his Maker?' Job 4:17

God's fundamental purity is the source of our personal purity. It comes from God alone, and flows from his innate pureness. It is God's way of imparting His pure nature into our existence.

Contemplation: If our best effort to be good is like filthy rags, what do you suppose our willful sinfulness is like when God sees it? (taken from Daily Devotionals by Brent Riggs)

C.C.S. CORNER SCHOOL NEWS

We will be having a celebration in honor of Grandparents' Day in chapel on Monday, September 13. Please join us! Chapel will begin at 8:45 a.m.; Refreshments will follow.

C.C.S. Is Off To A Great Start!
by Dan DuPey

We want to tell all of you that we have had a great week in God's school mission camp here at C.C.S.!

The students look great with their solid colors and coordinated attire. Smiles could be seen in all directions. Some of the K-4 students, trying to adjust to leaving "mom" (sometimes this was dad), did shed a few tears. In fact, one of our new K-4 students was so overwhelmed by chapel that he simply stood in amazement during the whole period listening as Mike led us!

Our annual Auction is already in the planning stages. This event will take a new direction this year. We will be having it in the evening to accommodate more people and their time. We understand fully how protective many are concerning their Saturdays. This year it will be held at 6:00 PM at the Coeur d'Alene Inn on April 22. Please mark your calendar now and reserve this special time together!

We have officially introduced Eli, our special eagle, to the chapel group. He will have many important topics to discuss with the students through his interpreter.

Mrs. Utter is getting her puppet ministry ready for the lower wing Bible program. This is going to be an exciting new addition to their curriculum! You are invited to join the students at any time.

Our Christmas Program has already been set. Georgette and Mike have organized a program that will be exciting for all of the students as well as the adults!

GET READY TO START SAVING THOSE BOX TOPS. WE HAVE A LONG LIST OF PRODUCTS THAT THESE CAN BE FOUND ON. Remember these are worth 10 cents each! Have you ever collected pennies? Not too many do that any more! But, we all know that dimes add up very quickly! Please help us out in this campaign. We are also very excited about the GREAT supporters of our C.C.S. students. We do have a couple of students who still have a need. Can you please help in this area? Thank-you Church! Have a blessed day!
