SHORT  BY
STUFF   DAVE SHANER

If you haven't been to the Prayer Garden lately to notice the progress, you should do so. It has taken longer than originally expected but the end product will be a very useful tool for the kingdom of God here in Coeur d'Alene. Many have been contributing both in time and finances to help make this a reality. Also the new sign should be completed this week. There have been many obstacles along the way, but it will also be a very useful tool in advertising not only who we are but displaying upcoming events.

Marvin Phillips once said, 'If you haven't crossed paths with the devil in a while, maybe that is an indication that you are going in the same direction.' Jesus also echoed, 'I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart I have overcome the world.' - John 16:33. When God's people attempt anything that will glorify God, you can be sure that our enemy will be there to try to discourage the workers and put a stop to the work. In the book of Nehemiah, those who were working to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem were the subject of constant criticism and opposition. One of Satan's most effective tools is that of discouragement. If he can harbor a feeling of 'we can't do it' he knows he has won half the battle. Nehemiah prayed that they not be discouraged and he reported, 'so we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart - Nehemiah 4:6. Do all you can to pray for the church's efforts. Come on down and pick up a shovel. Always lend words of encouragement to those doing the work.

A special congratulations to Linda Bruner and Kathy Shaner for being selected as a Teacher of the Year at their respective schools, Lakeland Junior High and Timberlake Junior High. This is a great honor and we are very proud of their accomplishments. Consistently our students and workers have honored the cause of Christ in how they do their work. Be sure to congratulate them.

Have a Great Week!!

Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire beside you. My flesh and my heart may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.  -Psalm 73:25-26

Shepherd's Corner

FELLOWSHIP
During the course of our lifetimes, we have many opportunities how we spend our time and efforts. It seems that we are easily swayed by outside influences, especially things that are secular in nature. Movies, television, athletic activities, vacations, and other festivities take a large part of our lives. It seems that we can always find time to do these things, but are we paying attention to the real important issues of Christianity. As God's people, we need to spend time with one another and to feel comfortable in sharing our lives. What better way to prepare for eternity than to cement these relationships that will last longer than our short time on earth. What about the next step that will be eternal? Don't let the pressures of this life prevent you from making friends with fellow Christians that will be with you in Heaven. Look forward to loving and getting close to your Christian brothers and sisters. Enjoy the long weekend, especially with fellow Christians

School Bells Ring!  Dan DuPey

The time has come! The race, we might say, is here! Are we ready?

It is sometimes an anxious time for all of us as teachers for the Christian school. We all have that great responsibility that God has given us. We have been instructed to go everywhere and teach about the GOOD NEWS. Our parents hear so much throughout the year about God and what Jesus did! Much of this, of course, they never knew existed.

Our teachers are in place, our books have arrived, our classes are in process, our schedules are being planned, AND our students are about to arrive. We have a variety of things scheduled already for the new year.

One of our first activities is the Grandparent's Day, which is celebrated on the first Monday in September after chapel. This is a great time of fellowship for our students, their parents, and grandparents. We will continue to have a focused spiritual and academic program this year.

CCS is ready to accept the responsibility, again, of being the second family to all our parents. Certainly we have an attitude of compassion and understanding towards all our students and parents. Our ears are open! We are ready to SHARE the GOOD NEWS. As we have said many times, "It is always good to know we can teach all our subjects throughout the day including Jesus and God's way!"

Class space is still open for some grades. Let us know. Also, if there are any questions about the supply list or other needs, contact us. If you are interested in sponsoring a student, contact Dan or Betty Rude. Thank-you Church!
