SHORT  BY
STUFF
DAVE SHANER

This evening we will be having all of our LIFE Groups meet together in a common assembly. This is for everyone, however, not just those who are presently in a LIFE group. Whenever there are five Sundays in a month, we plan to have a worship assembly in the evening at 5:30 p.m. We will follow up the time with some pie and coffee. Be sure to come out and encourage one another.

Thank you for the encouragement you have given me concerning the book of Exodus and particularly the life of Moses. We have seen the reluctance, the training, the submission, and the great leadership of Moses. We have seen the nature and awesome power of God. Last week was a mountain top experience as we revisited one of the greatest moments in history in the crossing of the Red Sea. Much of the drama has centered around a clash of wills between God and Pharaoh. Moses has simply been the emissary on behalf of God. What we haven't spent too much time, is on those who Moses was fighting for, the slaves themselves. Our next few lessons will deal more with the people themselves and their relationship with God.

So much of this story directly relates to us. Moses was a type of Christ. Humanity is enslaved to sin. Jesus said," "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.' - John 8:34. We have had our lives entrapped and backed up against our Red Sea many many times with seemingly no way out. But God delivered the Israelites and He will continue to deliver us if we continue in our "faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel." - Colossians 1:23. You are an integral part of the story. We will see how the Israelites trusted God with all their hearts at some points only to be blinded by their own selfishness at others. They could praise God at one moment and turn around and complain in another. That old nature just wants to keep rearing its head, but we have been redeemed. God still puts up with us and He will see us through to the end. In our upcoming lessons we will not be covering all of the stories, but I would encourage you to read the remainder of the book of Exodus this week.

Have a Great Week !!!

The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.  -Exodus 15:2

SUNDAY NIGHT LIVE!!

Tonight, at 5:30 p.m., we will be having a special worship assembly. All of our LIFE groups are requested to be in attendance as well as any that are not currently a member of a particular LIFE group. We will be serving pie and coffee afterwards. It will be time to praise God and encourage one another. The best way to encourage your brothers and sisters in this assembly is to be here. Your presence will be very encouraging.

Pray for her.

Remember to keep praying for your Secret Prayer Sister!

Mike's Memos.....

'Identity Theft' the theme for last weekend's Tri-Cities Youth Rally, was challenging and enjoyable. The question, 'What steals your focus in worship?' was addressed in several different ways, including related topic speeches by several young men. Among them were our own Nathan Frisk, James Graham, and Marc Inabnet. Our guys really did a good job of presenting God's word, as did all the speakers. We also experienced wonderful singing sessions, and the fellowship of about 150 teenage Christians was a real blessing to all. We had the largest group there, and it was so good to have nearly all of us at the rally. Parents, thanks for sending them, and teens thanks for wanting to go. It is one of the ways to 'feed the good dog'.

'Kick-off' is next Saturday, June 5th! We will be leaving the church building at 10:30 am with our sack lunches. We will drive out to Larry & Sylvia Slate's lake home, have a picnic, share an afternoon of fun and games and water sports, have a hamburger fry in the evening, and then a devotional. Our special honorees will be the incoming 7th graders plus any new kids joining the group. Our new Youth Group members will include: Alan Frisk, Ronnie Ross, Andrew Hartofilax and Josh Nelson (when he can be here).

Yard Sale for LTC at the Bus Barn, June 11-12. We still have some plane fares and other LTC expenses we'd like to cover so they don't have to come out of the youth budget. Several of you have already donated 'stuff' to sell, and if others would like to help with this, please give us a call.

Togo Trip Wouldn't a teen mission trip to Togo, Africa be a dream!!! Wow! I think it could happen in a year or three. At this point, Earlene and our girls, and I will go this July to visit David & Becky and to check up on our mission work there with the Kabiye people. I plan to bring back a first hand account of the Lord's work being done there by the Togo Team. It is an expensive trip, and the unexpected expenses keep popping up. Some of you have already been helping us with money for additional required shots, and additional visa requirements. This is VERY much appreciated. I still have to pinch myself to believe we are actually going, but with your help and the Lord's wonderful blessings we will go with very grateful hearts.

Music Camp is only three weeks off!! If you haven't sent in your registration form yet, do it NOW! You save $30 if you register by June 7th. Camp is another great way to 'feed the good dog'. Parents / Teens, don't miss these opportunities. They will be gone before you know it.

C.C.S CORNER SCHOOL NEWS

It Is Not Too Late!
Dan DuPey

June is almost here! I think that we can all agree that it has been quite a roller-coaster ride for us throughout the Spring. The weather has had us guessing almost every day. Will today be windy, stormy, sunny, rainy, or just plain cold. Do we plant?, do we paint?, clean the garage?, do we mow?, do we rake?, or maybe we should just wait and not do it today. But, we need to get started.' It is not too late. June is almost here! In March of this year, I told my students that the time is near. Your work needs turned in before the end of the year. March passed by and April appeared with many of my students still very sincere.' "The work will be in, I have so much time. The end of the year is not even near."' When May arrived the homework increased hoping to end those "no summer school!" pleas. Now, May is fading to soon disappear, but some of the students will see it is clear.' Summer will be here with assignments unfinished, and many of those students will be working not swimming!

As we end our year we remind each other that it is never too late to do something right. Jesus would ask us to say a kind word, to help a close neighbor or even a friend. We should finish our assignments and ask to do more; whenever God needs there is No undone chore. Can we listen to others and help if we can or choose to direct them in a special prayer. It is NEVER too late to encourage each other; to share with our laughter and help out our brother.

Jesus was always there for God's people. He was an example and knew how to treat them. All of our days can change those hard hearts by softening them up without throwing darts. All those sweet words that Jesus has said are now all for us to teach others instead. We have the message. We have the Good News. Let's Read it. Let's Teach Bit! It's for us to use! It is never too late for us to begin our service! Why not today, let's begin to serve it!
