Family News April 18, 2004 SHORT BY Last week's Sunrise service was great. We had 68 in attendance. The weather was crisp, but you could not have asked for a more beautiful day for this time of the year in North Idaho. Many people were responsible for helping to make it a success. Don & Betty Rude spent many hours to set the entire event up. Robert Clark and the Dalton Gardens singers did a wonderful job. Rick Blanchard and Ray Rayburn also did a great job of speaking concerning why we were there. There were several visitors from the community whom we appreciate being in attendance. We also appreciate Georgette Rude, Rick & Janet Blanchard, along with many others who have worked so diligently in helping to get the garden ready. The most important guest was Jesus himself. He did not stay in the grave but rose up to give new life to all who call on His name. His promise to all disciples is, "surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matthew 28:20. I can't wait to see the finished project by the end of the summer. The flowers will all be out, the gazebo and stream will be finished, Lord willing. A formal opening and dedication is scheduled for August. More details will be coming as that date approaches. In the meantime, I am sure that the Prayer Ministry could use a lot of extra hands to help with planting, raking, routine maintenance, as well as continued construction. Volunteer to help by contacting Rick (772-5096) or Georgette (772-9833). They would appreciate it. The Garden of Prayer is simply a tool and reminder
to encourage us to pray and to seek the Lord. You don't need a special place
to pray just as we don't need a special building to meet in. But anything that
we can do to encourage Christians to get together to pray, study and fellowship
together is well worth the effort. Have a Great Week !!! For everything was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. -Romans 15:4
Congratulations! Ashlin and Joleen Reeves, the newest (and youngest) members of the Sweet Adelines Chorus, recently passed auditions with flying colors! ALL LADIES: REMEMBER!!! The important meeting for our Ladies Fall Fellowship is this afternoon at 2:00 p.m. here at the building. See you then! Tonight, DG LTC Celebration 5:30!!! 'ALL THAT GLITTERS IS NOT GOLD' Leadership Training For Christ Southwest Region Convention in Phoenix was a wonderful experience for all who were able to attend. Yes, the glittery stuff was/is fun, can be displayed with pride, and be a visual
reminder of a fantastic experience. But, even better, it will be a reminder
of excellent spiritual training received, and of worthwhile goals set and accomplished.
So many skills were learned and polished. So much Bible was studied & digested.
The brightest glitter is in the hearts and lives of a bunch of God's children...
kids who worked, practiced, studied, participated and performed; parents who
guided, prayed, supported, drove, waited, and practiced; teachers who shared,
prayed, pushed, drilled, typed, painted, practiced, and loved; and a church
family who cared, prayed, gave, supported and praised. We are all so much richer
because of our combined LTC efforts. We have given. God has blessed. We have
grown. God is glorified. AMEN!!! NEW PRAYER TRIO COMING SOON! Christians need each others' prayers. Even when there is no immediate crisis, those prayers refresh and sustain us. It has been a while since we divided the congregation into groups of 3 family units. Each family's role is to pray for the other families in their "TRIO" everyday. This way each group has 2 other families praying for them on a daily basis. Look for your new Prayer Trio assignments on May 2nd. Rejoice ever more. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I Thess. 5:16-18 Shepherd's Corner The greatest miracle associated with the Christian religion is the person of
Jesus the Christ and the impact he has had on the human race over the centuries: Twenty centuries have now come and gone, and today he is the central figure
of the human race. The ultimate example of love. It is no exaggeration to say
that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all
the kings who have ever reigned, all the congresses -For the Elders Tweeners Night Out! The Tweeners will be getting together to see the play 'Cheaper By The Dozen'. With Thankful Hearts Honoring some of God's servants among us has proved one of our most cherished traditions at the Pepperdine Bible Lectures. Throughout morning and evening gatherings, church leaders, missionaries, ministers and their families receive recognition for their special lives of service to our God. Appreciation dinners give hundreds of lecture guests the opportunity to say 'thank you' to others for their contributions to the kingdom. Join us in these celebrations, May 4-7.
