STUFF   DAVE SHANER

We appreciate all of you who participated in the Think Tank last Saturday. It is so easy to put blinders on ourselves as we become so accustomed to doing things in the same way we always have that it is difficult to see a different way. The purpose of our meeting is to gain input so we can make sure that the church is on track for growth, both spiritually and numerically. In the book of Acts, we see several times when God blessed the church numerically. God takes the time to let us know that 3,000 were added to their number the very first day the gospel was preached and that the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved - Acts 2:41, 47. God wants more and more to come to Him. At the same time, we must grow to maturity. Numbers for numbers sake does not please God. Neither does a church that never grows numerically, because part of maturity is reaching out to the lost with the gospel. I am convinced that church growth is a matter of planting and sowing. We are to plant and sow, and then leave the growth up to God - I Corinthians 3:6-9. God will do His part, we can count on Him. But He has asked us to be His coworkers in the ministry of reconciliation - II Corinthians 5:19-:6:1. There is a great deal of strength and unity when believers get together to plan the work of the Lord. Now that your input has been gathered, the leaders must plot a solid direction that glorifies God as the church reaches out to become all that we can be.

The church here has many resources to aid you in your walk with the Lord. Of course, we have started some new Bible classes on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. Be present at every opportunity that these are offered. We also desire that every person be a part of a small group. These groups meet for several purposes: to study the scriptures, to fellowship, to pray, to serve one another, and help provide accountability to each other. Being a part of a group is not just a desired option, but a formal request from the shepherds of this church. In other words, all members of the Dalton Gardens church of Christ are asked to be a part of a small group. These groups meet at many different times. New groups are also being formed. We are confident that one will fit you. If you are not in a group, be sure to see me or one of our group leaders, and we can help place you in one.

Have a Great Week!

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Matthew 6:19-20

Great News!!!

And again...we rejoice as new Christians are born into the family of God here at Dalton. Steve and Karen Morris were baptized about noon on Monday, September 8th after a series of studies with Dave Shaner. Congratulations Steve & Karen, and welcome to the family!

Upcoming Youth Events

Leadership Training for Christ -

Registration Sept. 7th

Bible Bowl - began Sept. 10th

Valley Rally Sept. 26th - 28th

Cider Press Oct. 10th - 12th

TNT -Thursday Night for Teens

will be switched to Friday nights during school.

We had a good beginning for the LTC and Bible Bowl programs last Sunday and Wednesday nights, but if you haven't registered yet, you are still in plenty of time. Parents, if necessary, push your kids a little. I know you wouldn't allow them to decide not to go to school. Their spiritual training is so much more important. Surely you would want them involved in the best kids spiritual training program available. Talk to Mark Borsheim or Mike Reeves.

The summer was great, camp activities were wonderful, and now the youth rally season begins. Get your Valley Rally forms filled out and turned in as soon as possible. And then it will be Cider Press time (registration forms are also available), next Winterfest, and before you know it, it will be time for our youth rally, Miqvah.

Sometimes parents, and even kids, wonder if these activities have any value. Of course, I say, 'Yes they do.' Just on the surface, almost any event that brings Christian kids together is valuable. We want our kids to choose Christian friends, and to eventually select Christian spouses. Let's help make that possible by giving them excellent opportunities to be with Christian kids and in settings where Christian supervision is also a priority. The youth rallies, at least, offer that much. Additionally, effort is always made to offer much more in areas for spiritual growth: sharing in worship (singing, praying, reading scripture), classes for learning from God's word, lessons presented by spiritual leaders, activities to foster life application of moral and spiritual values, to name a few. Of course, the extent of growth is determined by attentiveness and the condition and focus of each participant's heart.

We plan to participate in at least four youth rallies each year, and encourage our teens to be a part of as many of these as possible. They are not requirements, they are opportunities for spiritual growth, and Christian socialization. Both of these have obvious value.

CCS CORNER SCHOOL NEWS

Good morning brothers and sisters! I am so thankful to be able to share the love of God each day. Our school is not just a private school; it is a Christian school. We teach the students the Bible and how God wants us to live. Part of this teaching includes sharing how special each of us is to God. God loved us so much that Jesus left heaven to be humiliated and killed. God made that sacrifice for all of us. We need to remember that as we live each day.

Through the Redeemer, Mr. Rude

Today starts the CCS Book Fair!

Thank You

I want to thank the church for all the food they brought us. Also for the ones that came to sing for us. It was beautiful and I know that Gen heard them.

It is wonderful to belong to such a great church and caring people. It has boosted my life and with Gen gone it means more than ever. I love all of you.

-Bea Phippen
