Family News June 29, 2003 Short By STUFF Dave ShanerSummer has arrived and came in at full strength. It is a time when many spend more time outdoors and many take vacations. The Dalton church has many activities planned throughout the summer - from a capella concerts to barbecues to outings to camps, etc. Sometimes with our schedule it is easy to get disconnected when it could well be a time to get connected. Make your church attendance and participation in a Bible Study Group a priority. Also our contribution has slipped a bit over the past two weeks. Many needs of people are greatest in the summer time and our regular commitments continue as well. If you will be gone, be sure to try to make up your contribution. Several who know they will be gone have chosen to give their contributions in advance which has been very thoughtful. Enjoy the summer with your family and with your church family as well. Be sure to check your mailboxes each week and keep up with various activities through the Family News bulletin. Vacation Bible School (VBS) will be starting next week. If you have not signed up your children, be sure to do so today! Registration forms are available both in the church foyer and the church office. We could always use more volunteers, so if you are available, be sure to see Mike Reeves or Arrty Rude. We have two upcoming concerts to help promote Christian education. On Monday, July 7, at 7 pm, The Light, a singing group from Abilene Christian University (ACU) will be here. Our own Zachary Shaner is a member of this group and has been touring the United States with them for the summer. On Wednesday, July 16, at 6:30 pm, Won by One, a group from Pepperdine University will be here to perform. Prior to the concert from 5:00-6:15, we are having a barbecue here at the building under the canopy. Our regular classes will not meet that evening in lieu of this concert. If you would like to keep any of the students in your home, let Dave Shaner or the office know. Your hospitality is very much appreciated. Have a Great Week!! Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

New acquaintances are easy to come by, But true friendship is extremely rare. A friend always sees the best in you, Although they've known you at your worst. They laugh with you in the good times, When storms threaten, they'll be there first. They'll offer a shoulder to rest your head When tears are welling in your eyes. Take a walk down friendship's path with you And help chase away those stormy skies. Lord, thank You for all the gifts You give; Each one makes our life seem more worthwhile. But one of the finest gifts you've given us Is the warmth of friendship's loving smile. © Barbara Cagle Ray C.C.S. ENROLLING NOW FOR 2003-2004 SCHOOL YEAR!
