Family News June 15, 2003 Short By STUFF Dave ShanerWe need to constantly keep our missionaries in our prayers. The Dalton Gardens church has been responsible for helping take the gospel to all parts of the world. We have financially supported men and women in such places as Brazil, Haiti, India, Nigeria, and Canada. Currently we help with missionaries in Siberia, Russia, - Far East Russia in Lifeline of Hope - Togo, Africa - Astoria, Oregon, - and Bonners Ferry, Idaho. On the back of the attendance directory, you can find their names and addresses. In addition to praying for them, drop them a card or e-mail of encouragement. It is one thing to pray for them but be sure to let them know that you are doing so. In the mission field, you can feel alienated and to hear from brethren back in the States can give them a big lift. If you are not currently in a Bible Study Group, you are missing out on some great opportunities for spiritual growth. Our BSG leaders are very committed to the Great Commission. They meet every Sunday morning before Bible classes to pray together and learn to be better leaders. The BSG's help you to learn Bible application. In a BSG, you can learn more about God's will through Bible Study, pray for one another, bring the lost to Christ, serve one another, share concerns, gain spiritual relationships, develop spiritual accountability, and learn to love in a deeper way. Every disciple of Christ wants to be more like Him. The early church met from house to house serving one another and spreading the teachings about Christ. Our Bible Study Groups are founded on a very biblical model and help to bring about maturity in Christ as well as personal and church growth. Be sure to be present each week. A listing of the groups is found on the back of each Family News bulletin. Feel free to contact any of them to be a part of this exciting ministry. Have a Great Week! Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God. the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Deuteronomy 6:4-6

Does Satan continue to tempt you with the same thing day after day? Satan knows where our weaknesses lie and uses this to bombard us so we will give in and sin. It is important for us to resist thru prayer and daily devotions. Reading the Bible really helps along with spiritual books written by fellow Christians. Help yourself this week by devoting time each day to prayer and reading God's word. -The Elders Ladies Night Out!!! Ladies, are you ready for some fun? Remember to keep their family in your prayers during this time of loss. Mike's Memos.... How well do you know God? Often, through the eyes of a child, we get a clearer view of God, and the world he created. I love the pictures I see through the eyes of little Anna, in the book Mister God, This Is Anna. For instance, Anna describes the difference between human love and God's love like this in her conversation with her friend, Fynn: 'Fynn, does Mister God love us, truly?' 'Sure thing, Mister God loves everything.' 'Oh, then why does he let things get hurt and dead?' 'I don't know. There're a great many things about Mister God that we don't know about.' 'Well then, if we don't know many things about Mister God, how do we know he loves us? He is millions time bigger than me, so how do I know he loves me?' She went on, 'Fynn, Mister God doesn't love us. He really doesn't you know. Only people can love. I love you, Fynn, and you love me because we are people. I love Mister God truly, but he don't love me. No, he don't love me......not like you do, it's different. It's millions of times bigger.' Fynn, you can love better than any people that ever was, but Mister God is different. People can only love outside, and kiss outside, but Mister God can love you right inside, and can kiss you right inside, so it's different. We are a little bit like Mister God, but not much.....yet.' Like some alchemist, Anna had turned lead into gold. Gone were all the human definitions of God, like goodness, mercy, and love...which are helpful, but they are merely props to describe the indescribable.'You see Fynn, Mister God is different from us because he can finish things and we can't. I love you so much, Fynn, but I can never finish loving you, because I shall be dead a million years before I can finish. But Mister God can finish loving you, and so it's not the same kind of love, is it? No, we try hard to love like him, but Mister God is different.' Yes, Mister God is different. He can love right inside of me. It is awesome to try to share that love with one another, but I can't quite do it ....yet. But I'm learning. God sends special friends, and children like Anna, are teaching me, and I think I know him better. How well do you know God?MEXICO MISSION In just a few weeks, July 12th - 19th thirteen of us will be going to Tecate' Baja, Mexico to share the love of God and his word by teaching a Vacation Bible School, doing some service projects, and sharing some activities with church and community teenagers.
