STUFF   Dave Shaner

Our No Debt, No Sweat! Seminar is off to a great beginning. Steve Diggs, from Nashville, Tennessee, will continue the seminar on Sunday and Monday evenings at 7 pm. Be sure to see the schedule for the list of topics. The No Debt, No Sweat! Seminar speaks about topics that any person can use in a practical way right now. You still have time to invite a friend. We are looking forward to seeing a big crowd for this seminar.

Our home Bible Study Groups are growing. We would like to encourage every member of the Dalton church to be actively involved in a BSG. More takes place at a BSG than simply Bible study. This is a place for you to draw closer to God and each other. The apostle John said, 'We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.' - I John 1:3. Fellowship with God and each other are what makes Christianity what it is. You can not have fellowship with one without the other. Later John says 'For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.' - I John 4:20. God made us so that we needed each other. We have a tendency to want to play the lone ranger when it comes to our Christianity. I tend to do this for sure. It is just easier to just worry about myself and my own relationship with God. But that is not the way that God set it up. Our small groups which meet at different times throughout the week provide a connection with each other which enhances our connection with God and vice-versa. I don't mean to cast stones at anyone, but I have personally found that those involved in one of our small groups grow stronger in the Lord. Generally those that do not are mostly spectators.

Not only is it a connection time, but our groups also provide a time of transparency and intense prayer. When we get to know one another better and are all concentrating on the Word, you start to expect God to make changes in you. He uses each brother and sister to help mold us and there is an accountability that happens in small groups. We need to be accountable both to God and each other. If you want to grow closer to God and each other, be sure that you are a part of a Bible Study group today!

Have a Great Week!!

Then he said to them all: 'If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.'

-Luke 9:23

'If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him. Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.'

1 John 3:17-18

As we prepare to join with congregations of the churches of Christ in a special Day of Prayer and Fasting on June 1st, we have a great opportunity to love with 'actions and in truth'.

In Sympathy

Our sympathy is extended, again, to Kenneth Huseby and his family at the loss of his brother, Ray. May God's richest blessing be yours.

Mike's Memos....

Consider this scenario:

'Church was wonderful today. We had lots of visitors, so I offered one of them my seat, and ended up taking him and his family to lunch. We had a great visit, and found out we have a lot of common interests. I'm sure they will be back.

The song service was great. the songs just seemed to lift me up to God. I sat in front of two little boys who were singing way off key, but they were really praising God. I love to see the tears of my fellow Christians' eyes when we sing 'How Great Thou Art'.

The preacher really poured his heart out in his lesson today. The message was so full of scripture, and it touched my heart. We are so blessed to have such a talented man in our pulpit.

I love going to church. It makes me want to tell our elders how appreciative ë am. I know they spend tons of time caring for this church family.

Members of the congregation greeted us, hugged us, and told us they had been praying about our struggles. I had the opportunity to encourage someone who is going through similar struggles. The support everyone feels here, and the prayers are special blessings.

What a joy it is to be a part of the Lord's church.'

That beautiful. positive, complimentary scenario is the way it should be. We all know that. But how many of us seem to focus on the negatives rather than the positives? We seem to always be looking for what didn't suit us, or what should have been done a different way. It reminds me of Paul's warning in Galatians 5:15, 'If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.' How can we expect to grow if we keep on tearing each other down?

No, I really liked the scenario at the first, and I want to be like that, don't you?

New Bible Study Group ..... for teens and their parents at the Reeves' home. We want to encourage all our teens to be involved in a Bible Study Group with your parents. If you are already, great; if not, please join us from 5:30 to 7 pm each Sunday evening for singing, study & fellowship. Bring your Bibles & snacks; we'll provide drinks.
