Family News April 27, 2003 Short By STUFF Dave ShanerWe are only 3 weeks away from our No Debt, No Sweat! Seminar with Steve Diggs. The No Debt, No Sweat! Seminar shows Gods people how to use Gods money Gods way/ - Christians are freed from the bondage of stuff-itus. Today Christians desperately need the tools and the knowledge to get out of uncontrolled debt so they can be about Kingdom business. Our people are so busy dealing with debt and bad spending habits - their spiritual vigor is depleted. Most people are now spending 20% of their income paying off short-term, high-interest debt. And, the average Christian is giving barely more than 2% of his income back to God. Money problems are the #1 cause of divorce - by a rate of 4 to 1 over the next thing! Instead of sitting bolt up-right in bed at 3:00 am, at a No Debt, No Sweat! Seminar, people learn how to kill the Debt Monster and develop spending plans that really work! The seminar gives hope and brings spiritual renewal. It increases giving and restores romance in marriages. It is both humorous and confessional -yet profoundly biblical. The dates for our seminar are Sunday and Monday, May 18-19. Steve Diggs is from Antioch, Tennessee. Steve will be speaking at our morning Bible class and worship assembly time and at 7 pm Sunday and Monday evenings. Make your plans to come and be a part of this important seminar. Many are traveling this week either to Cascade College for graduation or to Pepperdine University for their annual lectures. If you ever get the opportunity to attend one of the college sponsored church lectures, you will be in for a treat. You always have a variety of classes to choose from all day as well as keynote lectures in the mornings and evenings. It gives you the opportunity to hear some of the better preachers and teachers, gain new insights and suggestions on church growth, fellowship with Christians from across the country, and the opportunity to visit a Christian campus. Their are several lecture programs throughout the year all across America at Christian campuses. This is a great way to get away for some spiritual renewal. Have a Great Week!! I rejoiced with those who said to me, Let us go to the house of the Lord. -Psalm 122:1

Do we, though, put all our time, all our resources, all our energy Ð all our life Ð to Gods service? When we have free time on our hands, is our first thought, now what can I do for God? or is it, now what can I do for myself? Don't we say, But God wants me to be happy and to spend some time alone/with family/relaxing/enjoying life/doing whatever? Haven't we all used one or more of those excuses often enough so now they just slide off of our tongues? How sure are we that our contentment is really the goal of Gods Master Plan? Romans 15:4 says, For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (NASU) In the Bible we meet many Heroes of Faith: David, Abraham, Noah, and the list goes on... We can learn from the example of Gods people throughout antiquity. One history not often listed among the other famous Bible stories is that of Nehemiah: Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire. That's the report that Nehemiah heard from Jerusalem. He was in the Persian capitol of Susa, working as the kings cupbearer. He worked in the royal court Ð his life was good, he had no reason to worry about Jerusalem É no reason except that he knew Jerusalem was Gods city, central to his plans then. Foremost in Nehemiah's mind was Gods plan. His response to this news was: When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. So he led a group back to Israel to repair the wall and not let anything stand in the way of Gods plan. Read what the everyday Hebrews went through because they believed that God was more important than they: they sold their children into slavery to have the resources to finish the wall (5:5), individuals had to borrow money to finish the wall (5:4), they sold and mortgaged their own houses to pay for the Lords work (5:3), and they took up arms to actively fight the enemies of God . . . The challenge has been given to live up to our heritage as sons and daughters of God. Are we going to continue to offer the same excuses for self-gratification or are we going to honestly commit to God-glorification? TRI-CITIES YOUTH RALLYMay 16th - 18th Welcome to Levi Sisemore who will be our Youth Intern from now until July 8th.CCS CORNER SCHOOL NEWS A Time To Reflect........Dan DuPey C.C.S. is winding down...or is it? We are moving so quickly in a forward direction that it is difficult to stop and assess. Assess where the students are. Assess what has been accomplished. Assess where the students are going. It is a reminder to be thankful. God has truly blessed the school. It has been a wonderful year! We have to take time again, and simply thank all that have been so involved with Gods mission here for you. The month of May will be a busy month with our "Talent" show, Jog-A-Thon, Parent Appreciation Bar-B-Q...(Your Welcome to come May 6th), Science Fair, Skate Day!,..Cataldo Mission Field Trip, North Idaho Museum Trip, K-Graduation, and Awards Assembly. Are YOU a friend of someone in Need? We are always encouraging our students to be a friend. Be respectful. Be courteous. Be understanding. Show who YOU belong to. We go back to a story about Jesus: The news was out. Help was available for the sick! But a certain paralytic had no way to get to it. Physically disabled people like him were not only immobile, but usually poor. Useless to society and lacking help from the government, they invariably lived as social outcasts. But some men knew of this mans dilemma and came to his aid. They helped him get to a house where Jesus was teaching. But enormous crowds made access to Jesus impossible. Fortunately, the men were determined and resourceful They literally tore the roof off the building in order to connect their friend with the "Helper". Jesus noticed. He saw their great faith. Luke 5:20....He healed the paralyzed man. Jesus, we know, must have had GREAT appreciation for the friends of this man that brought him. They were truly serving. Our Christian school is serving. We feel that this mission will continue to grow as you support it and become involved. Thank you for a great year!
