STUFF   Dave Shaner

We would like to welcome everyone here for the Marriage Matters Seminar with Dr. Jerry & Lynn Jones. We would like to encourage you to come back for each session through Wednesday of this week. Marriage is one of the greatest blessings and provisions that our great God has given to us. There is no closer relationship on earth than that of a Christian spouse. Likewise, children are a gift from the Lord. He has entrusted them to our care. If there is any other way that we could help you with your spiritual needs, feel free to contact me or one of our shepherds we are eager to get to know you better.

The Dalton Gardens church is an undenominational group of believers whose purpose is to help people draw closer to God. The unity of believers was/is important to Jesus. He prayed that His people would be one - John 17. Today, however, we see a multitude of different denominations all clamoring for people's attention. The reasons there are so many groups are varied, but the scriptures as the rule of faith is one thing we could all unite on. We seek to be Christians in the 21st century just as believers were Christians in the 1st century. We still have struggles in this life, but true faith in God is the only cure to lasting ills.

Jesus came to earth to seek and to save the lost - Luke 19:10. He set his church up to be his representatives on earth, until he comes again to take us home - II Corinthians 5:20. The church is not just an afterthought in the mind of God, but represents all who belong to him - Ephesians 1:22-23. The church is not a building or any kind of human organization, but is the family of God. We would like to urge you to seek God. 'The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. 'For in him we live and move and have our being.' - Acts 17:24-28

Have a Great Day!

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

- Genesis 2:24

Thanks to all my brothers and sisters who have prayed for me. I am better and I am glad to have been here today with my real family, the Lord's church. Thanks for the beautiful cards.

Love in Him, Wilma Flanagan

Isn't it wonderful to receive blessings when you are not even looking. I was blessed this past weekend by a bunch of teenagers - I thought I'd have a good time, but I got to see kids washing dishes and singing praises, at the same time. What tops scrubbing pots and pans while hearing melodies meant for heaven. I saw our teens teach one another, worship in love with one another and laugh. The laughter made me wonder what Jesus thought- I could just imagine Him laughing with us. The weekend was full of tubing, snowboarding, snow skating and some games I always lost at. Thanks teens for blessing me by sharing your great weekend and especially showing Christ. You all are loved.

No, it is not here yet, but it is time to start the planning. Our theme will be Heroes of the Bible. Our classes will be studying about Jesus, Daniel, Esther, and Joseph. The VBS dates are July 7 - 10, so put it on your calendar and plan to be a part and be ready to help out. We need help to start collecting some supplies for the month of February for VBS. Please bring in small scissors and colored markers. Your donations are appreciated!

Mike's Memos....

I'm always looking for something that will challenge my thinking; something that will give me clearer understanding and move me closer to being what Jesus wants me to be. Try this one....

Quoting from the Old Testament Law, and answering the question asked by the teachers of the law, 'Of all the commandments, which is the most important?' Jesus said in Mark 12:30, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.'

I think we know that the over-all message is that we should love the Lord with all our being, but my question for you would be, 'In which area or areas are you successful? Is your heart, or should we say emotions, more attached to Jesus than to anyone or anything else? And your soul....help! Somebody explain to me how to love with my soul. Are you able, intellectually, to completely love God? Is your mind totally given to him? Well, how about your strength? Is your body, physically, given to Him?

Other ways to ask the question would be, 'In which area does Satan cause you to fail most often? Is it hardest for you to love God with all your heart, or your soul, or your mind, or your strength? Where, in your life, is Satan's battleground?' For some of us, allowing / causing our hearts to be bound up with the heart of Jesus really feels good. That doesn't seem hard at all. But the mind and the body are much harder to place under His control. Loving Him with ALL of my mind and ALL of my strength is often a real challenge. For me, it seems that the devil's battleground is my mind. He causes me to think bad thoughts....to imagine evil things. He messes with my mind. Some people struggle to keep their body under control...to show that they love God with all their strength....that they love God more than they love themselves.

Yes, I could generically say that I love the Lord with all of my being. But I'm glad Jesus broke it down into four distinct areas so I can measure my commitment to my Lord more carefully. I really do want to love him above all else.

MID-WINTER RETREAT - The event is history, but it's effects will be felt and seen for a long time. 46 teens and 9 adults enjoyed an awesome weekend retreat at Camp Prince's Pine. We grew spiritually and enjoyed the sweet fellowship of kindred spirits whose hearts are joined as one with Christ.

IT'S COMING.......MIQVAH 2003

Fourth and Fifth grades displayed hand shapes with 100 ways to be helpful. Sixth and Seventh grades researched and displayed 100 important inventions of the last 100 years.
