Our Marriage Matters seminar is only two weeks away! Jerry and Lynn Jones will be here to address a variety of issues. I would like to encourage everyone from teenagers to senior saints to be present at these sessions. The communication skills will be beneficial for everyone and the topics are very relevant for today's culture. I received an e-mail from Tom Hendricks, a former member here, who read about the seminar on our website. He writes:

'Greetings from Kerrville. I want you to know that the church there is in my prayers often. Many of the peoples I mention by name. May our God and Father bless you and the body there with the richness of His glory. I noticed when Jerry and Lynn Jones was here in September that you guys were scheduled for February. I want to encourage you to talk it up. We have been blessed to have them here twice (they're good friends with one of our elders) and it was superb both times. They are wonderful servants of our Lord. You guys are in for a real treat. They are very open and candid. They don't pull any punches, but they tell it how it really is. They also add a lot of humor to their material. It is well worth attending. I encourage you to encourage as many people not only in the congregation, but in the community to come hear what they have to say. It's not your normal type seminar. I know you will be blessed.'

Be sure to invite your neighbors and friends. Let's make 'Friend Day' a record attendance. It would be great if we had to set up the smaller auditorium as an overflow for this event. You should have received some brochures in your mailboxes at church. We have placed these here so that you can distribute these personally to your friends. Because of the cost of a mass mailing, we decided to advertise the seminar through each member here. In many ways it could prove to be even more effective. If everyone would do this, it would save the church a few thousand dollars in advertising. In talking with Jerry, he indicated that it is vitally important to have everyone here for the very first session. It will set the stage for the later sessions. Even if you are not accustomed to coming to the regular Bible classes, make it a point to be here for the 9 am session. I am looking forward to it. Be sure to check out the schedule and talk it up as much as you can!

HAVE A GREAT WEEK !!

Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. - I Thessalonians 4:1

Shepherd's Corner

Like it or not, we are still living in the aftermath of September 11th. People are nervous. The news media illuminates each little event that might be even remotely attached to terrorism. The economy is struggling. The threat of war looms. It is easy, as a member of the general populace, to develop the feeling that everything is rushing toward the brink, and you don't have any control over it.

It is true, for the most part, that we don't have, and may never have, a lot of individual control over the major events in the world. But that is OK. IT REALLY IS! Because God is in control.

That may sound like a glib statement, but this is not like the little boy saying 'my daddy can whip your daddy', though he is not really sure of that. God is in absolute control and because of that we can relax some of our anxiety about the current events.

In Mark 13: 7, Jesus said, 'When you hear of wars, and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed'. You see we have more important things to be concerned with; the saving of souls.

As God's people we are like the medic in a battle, going from one injured or dying person to the next; giving the life and healing that comes from the message of Jesus Christ. We do that, largely oblivious to the battle raging around us, because God, our commander, has given us that job to do; and we know that He will take care of the course of the battle.

Remember this; regardless of what happens in any given situation, the battle has already been won, and we each will participate in the victory and the reward.

Mike's Memos....

Someone has written, and it is worth sharing......

The Gospel ...... According To Me

When I say, 'I am a Christian,'
I'm not shouting 'I am saved.'
I'm whispering 'I was lost';
That is why I choose this way.
When I say, 'I am a Christian,'
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble,
And need someone to be my guide.
When I say, 'I am a Christian,'
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak,
And pray for strength to carry on.
When I say, 'I am a Christian,'
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed,
And cannot ever pay the debt.
When I say, 'I am a Christian,'
I'm not claiming to be perfect.
My flaws are too visible,
But God believes I'm worth it.
When I say, 'I am a Christian,'
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches,
Which is why I speak his name.
When I say, 'I am a Christian,'
I do not wish to judge.
I have no authority;
I only know I'm loved.
Yes, we will have

CCS CORNER - School News

I have two quotes posted in the CCS office where I can see them daily. The first is, 'To handle yourself, use your head. To handle others use your heart.' This definitely applies to working in the school office. And works for the rest of life, too. The second says, 'The really happy man is the one who can enjoy the scenery when he has to take a detour.' I know I've had some 'detours' in my life and enjoying the scenery makes all the difference. It also reminds me that Jesus was sent on the ultimate detour. And I'm sure he enjoyed the scenery. I'm also sure He used His heart to handle others. What would Jesus do? These two quotes are two more reminders for me. Have a great week! -Jennifer Rude

Valentine's Day is Approaching!

Soon CCS will be offering our annual valentine gifts that you can send to someone special. We are also in need of people who are willing to help us in selling, packaging, and delivering our gifts. If you are able to help out or wanting to place your order please call the school office at 772-7118. It is a fun time for all!

Thank you!

A great big thank you to Tim and Alyssa Frahm for the wonderful weekend at Camp Princess Pines. All the planning and work were a blessing to so many. The lessons from Scott Rouse were encouraging and well received. John Simpson you are a servant of the saints -- thank you. If you missed this event we are sorry. Those who were able to attend grew in faith, fellowship, and love for one another. Ask Sylvia Slate the best techniques to tube down the mountain!

Relay for Life

The 2003 Kootenai County Relay for Life has been set for July 18th and 19th. We participated in this event last year in many ways. We had Cancer survivors walk the first lap and remind us of their fight, their courage, and their faith. This lap was followed by many, many more. These laps were walked in prayer, in fellowship and in song. We also watched the luminaries line the track and give us time to reflect on those in the fight and those we had lost. We sold snow cones and cotton candy to raise funds for the American Cancer Society this also allowed us to have our church represented so people could see and visit with us. We had such a great time and look forward to even more members joining us this year. Please let Joanna know if you are interested. Thank you.

P.S. Someone needs to walk more laps than David Brunner-he wore out his shoes last year!!!!
