Please make your plans to be here next Sunday through Tuesday for our Friendship Evangelism Seminar. These will enrich your life and make you more productive in the kingdom of our Lord. - Dave

Have a Great Week!!

Guest Editorial: Dan & Katherine Cooper will be conducting a Friendship Evangelism Seminar for us on November 3-5. We have been viewing his videos during the adult Sunday Bible class this quarter.

ONE FIRE, 12 SHIRTS AND 14 PAIR OF PANTS

Smoke and fire totally engulfed the house. The family lost everything. Contents that hadn't been destroyed by the fire were ruined by the water firemen used to extinguish the flames. All appliances were destroyed, plus all their clothing, plus their furniture. Gone....everything! To make matters worse, the widow and her son that lived in the house never had carried home owners insurance, or any insurance for the contents of the house. A total loss!

For the time being the two victims have moved in with a relative. That will do for a while!

The son, I learned through a phone conversation, was exactly my size. His shirt, pants and even his shoes were identical to mine. So last night I went through my closet and pulled out 12 shirts (some long sleeve, some short), 14 pair of pants (some summer, some winter), and two pairs of shoes.

Two direct, immediate blessings:

1.) My donation helps someone in need, right now!

2.) My life, my closet is now not nearly so cluttered!

Truth is, all of us live fairly cluttered lives. Sometimes it's our clothes, our cars or our credit cards. Sometimes it's our house, or our carpet, or our furniture. Sometimes it's our finances, our 'retirement plan,' or our investments.

Simply your life! Give! You can help someone else! Unclutter your life!

'It is more blessed to give than to receive,' Jesus, (Acts 20:35). - Dan Cooper

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

- Ephesians 6:12

Friendship Evangelism Seminar

November 3-5

Have you ever wished that you could share your faith in a natural way more effectively? Dan and Katherine Cooper will be with us next week, November 3-5, to conduct a Friendship Evangelism Seminar. They have conducted these seminars all over the country. We have been viewing Dan's video class for the last 2 months during our Sunday am adult bible class. There will be some combined sessions as well as some separate sessions for men and women. Dan is a graduate of Harding University and has been the preaching minister for the church in Pitman, New jersey for the past 17 years. Katherine has an MSW from Rutgers University. Together they have been responsible for many additions to the kingdom of heaven. You will enjoy them very much. Be sure to be here for each session.

Shepherd's Corner

Did you attend Bible class last Sunday? If not, you missed an opportunity to hug your teacher, to be an encouragement, to learn, and to share.

In our adult class we have been watching video tapes be Dan Cooper on Friendship Evangelism, and then discussing them. This is a prelude of what will be discussed and taught in our Friendship Evangelism seminar on November 3-5. This last Sunday we learned 'How to Treat One Another'. We read and discussed 'one another' passages. We learned how to use this information within the congregation as a family, and also to help us grow personally.

Coming to Bible class is not only a great opportunity to encourage yourself and others, but it is also a great opportunity to learn and grow. Attending the Friendship Evangelism seminar will also provide you with this opportunity. Please make plans to take advantage of both of these opportunities.

Fellowship Meals

To encourage attendance during the Friendship Evangelism Seminar, we will be having some light suppers at the building Monday & Tuesday, November 4-5 at 6 p.m. The Fellowship Ministry will be providing and serving these meals. We are asking that the Bible Study Groups provide the clean-up after the meals. If we all chip in the work will be light.

Tuesday, November 5 - Reeves, Dupey, Crump

Take a night off from cooking. Let's enjoy some good food and Christian fellowship. Then plan to stay for the seminar. See you there!

Nine More Baptisms in N'Djei

The Lord's work in Togo, West Africa continues to grow. Last Sunday the two villages of N'Djei and Togogada met together at N'Djei for the baptisms of nine...... three men and six women including the wives of two of the chiefs. This is a significant breakthrough for the women to be accepted into the new church family. Mission team members shared the awesome praise and worship experienced at the first meeting together of these two new churches. Praise God for His wonderful work.

Mike's Memos

As many of you know, my opinion of television and computer games is not very positive. I know they are not all bad, but I believe the bad far outweighs the good. I read an article that really caught my eye. It pointed out the many problems brought on by excessive TV viewing and computer game playing and the negative content of many programs and games. It reminded me that by the age of 18 the average child will have spent more time in front of the TV and computer game screen (15,000 hours!) than in a classroom (11,000 hours). It stated that the screen:

*encourages asocial behavior, discouraging the building of relationships

*is a mood altering medium, often contributing to attitude problems

*communicates, among many negative messages, the subtle myth of the easy life with shortcuts to happiness and stress reduction

*promotes immediate, short-term relationships, rather than deep, meaningful relationships which require hard work and commitment.

Parents, are we modeling, and encouraging a careful selection of TV programs and games, and limiting the time spent in front of the screens? There is no question of the negative impact they can have on the life and service of a Christian.

'Come Before Winter' is our next big youth event.....November 15th - 17th! We have been given permission to use the Rudes' cabins on the St. Joe River at St. Maries again. Thank you Don & Betty and Eldon & Ruby! That is such an awesome place for this retreat, which seems to be the most spiritual highlight of all our activities each year. Teens, make your plans NOW to attend. Don't let anything get in the way of this opportunity for deep spiritual growth. I hope every member of our youth group will attend, and bring a friend who would be interested in a spiritual retreat. The Nirks, the Borsheims, and the Reeves will be the adult leaders this year.

CCS CORNER -School News

The school year is busily racing by. I have been watching my students grow as they continue to learn that they can all be responsible. Since I am the first male teacher that most of my students have had, we are all adjusting to each other. I enjoy working with these kids and look forward to the rest of the year. Thank you all for your prayers!
