STUFF   Dave Shaner

It has been a beautiful week. What better way to start out last week than to witness the baptism of Robert Frisk. Many of you have been praying for him as well as many others. Keep praying for each other and for those who have yet to come into the Lord's kingdom. Prayer works. Our Prayer Ministry has been responsible for many exciting things. One is the Prayer Trios that so many of you have been a part of. Another is the Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday mornings. Another is the development of the Prayer Garden and the Prayer Room. Ray Rayburn said at the congregational meeting last week that this may be the most important ministry that the Dalton Gardens church has ever undertaken. It is hard to say that one part of God's work is more important than another, but we can say that all of the ministries would be just spinning their wheels if it were not for prayer. The Prayer Ministry has reminded us of God's power that is available for all of our tasks.

The church received a letter asking for the authority to build a Prayer Garden. It is important to differentiate between the task and the tools that will help us accomplish the task. There is no requirement in the scriptures to have a garden of prayer, a church building, a special breakfast, song books, a computer, singing groups, a youth facility, or a host of other items. These are simply tools to help us become more like Jesus and love one another. At any time if a tool becomes the end in and of itself, it needs to be done away with. It is very possible for this to happen in many areas of our lives. Every thing we do needs to be to the honor and glory of God. This doesn't mean that anything goes, but it does mean that we remind ourselves of why we do what we do. One day all the things of this earth will pass away. The only things that will last will be people. Set your hopes and dreams on things eternal. Use what you have whatever it may be to aid you in drawing closer to God.

Have a Great Week!!

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

-Romans 14:19

Happy Father's Day!

Getting to Know You Better

The shepherds of the Dalton church will be meeting on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. with a different family each week in an effort to better meet your needs. They will be getting your input and offering ways which you may able to get involved in the work of the Lord's church. So........ when you are called welcome their invitation as they want to serve you.

Shepherd's Corner

A few weeks ago the elders encouraged you to 'reach out and touch someone' in order to encourage them in their daily walk with God. One area we would like to encourage you in is evangelism. In Matt. 28:18-20, Jesus told his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations, and to teach them to observe all that he commanded. This is a continual action because in turn we are told to go out to make disciples and teach them to observe, to follow all of his teachings. Jesus' previous teachings that we find in the gospels.

Have you been making disciples and teaching them? If you haven't, and don't know where to start then come join several of us on Tuesday night. We meet at 6:30 p.m. to go out for Bible studies, visitation, and encouragement. If Tuesday evening is not good then ask Dave Shaner. He has helped arrange Bible studies and visitations on other nights. If you want to only be a helper at this time we can help you with that.

Share with us in this great opportunity to serve God. The fields are 'white for harvest' John 4:35.

Thoughts to share from The Christian Chronicle.

*People punish a child for lying, and then tell him to 'just say I'm not at home.

*People regularly get to work by 7:00 or 8:00, but can't get to church by 9:00 or 10:00.

*People get ecstatic when a ballgame goes into overtime, but upset if worship does the same thing.

*Parents wouldn't dream of allowing their children to decide whether or not to attend school, go to the dentist, or wear decent clothes, but often let them choose whether or not to attend Bible class or church and youth functions.

*People apologize to the preacher when he hears them use a swear word. Shouldn't they apologize to God?

*People freely skip church for things they wouldn't dream of skipping work for.

*People would never steal money from the collection plate, but think nothing of skipping their church contribution.

*How much time would we have for things we need to do / ought to do, if television suddenly disappeared?

*People still remember things they forgave ten years ago.

*Why does the egg of a Sea Tortoise deserve more protection than a human baby?

*People who work the hardest in the church, serve the most, give the most, appreciate the most. Those who do and give the least find the most fault.

CCS CORNER - School News

The following note of appreciation was received from one of our school parents:

To Everyone at Coeur d'Alene Christian School,

God answered our long, thoughtful and heartfelt prayers when Kyle and Rossi came to you. It was meant to be and they were meant to be with you for lessons of school, friendship and for what I believe faithfully are reasons only He knows. 'Thank you' will never be enough but I must tell you all; that what you do matters! I don't believe in good-byes so - so long for now, friends. God be with you and peace in His name. Most graciously, Caity, Greg, Madison, Kyle and Ross Clark.
