STUFF    Dave Shaner

With the schools all being out, the summer season has begun. We have a great variety of activities that you can be involved in to help enhance your Christian life. First, for all teens, Music Camp at Prince's Pine starts next Sunday, June 16. Senior High camp begins the following Sunday, June 23. The Preteen, All-Teen, and Junior High Teen camps will resume on July 28. Registration forms are available at the kiosk or the office if you would like one. Also, the fellowship ministry has planned a barbecue this afternoon after the congregational meeting which begins at 3 pm. This will be a very informative meeting about some of the ministries that we are undertaking to spread the aroma of Christ throughout the community. After that the aroma of hamburgers will be in the air. Be sure to be here for this time of information, encouragement, and fellowship. Our annual Vacation Bible School will be just around the corner, July 22-25. If you would like to help in any way, be sure to contact Alyssa Frahm. More information will be made known as we draw closer. We will be hosting a special meeting with Earl Williams July 28-30. He has been here in the past and many asked to have him back. Of course, be sure to pencil in August 30-September 2 on your calendar for the congregational campout at Farragut State Park over the Labor Day weekend.

With the start of summer and a new quarter, we would like to encourage you to make your attendance at Bible classes and the assemblies a priority. With summer also comes many benevolent needs that require our help. The Soup Kitchen staff does a great job in ministering to the needy of our community. Come join us for dinner and the chance to know some of our guests on Wednesday evening.

Many are often gone for vacations. The work of the church still goes on regardless of the schedule. Also, it is important that each of us keep up our contributions so the work can proceed without difficulties.

Have a Great Week!!

'Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.'

-Romans 14:19

Congregational Meeting & BBQ

There will be a congregational meeting and barbecue this afternoon at 3 pm. Make your plans to be present as vital church family information is discussed and fellowship is enjoyed.

The following are requested items to bring from each Bible Study Group. If you are not currently a part of a group, feel free to bring any item.

Buns/Chips & Dips   Condiments
 Shaner              Dupey/Swaim
 Erwin               Williams

Side Dishes/Salads  Desserts
 D. Rude/W. Brown    Reeves
 Crump               Frahm

Each time we have a congregational meal, a group will be scheduled for clean-up. The teens will take their turn first, and I know they will do a great job.

Togo Report

Great things are happening in Togo. The Lord's work is bearing fruit! 54 have been baptized in the villages of Legue Legue and N'djei. Pray for the new Christians in these brand new churches, and for our missionary team who is also sharing God's word in the villages of Lao, Te, and Kitokotaa. See the bulletin board for the whole scoop! David & Becky will be here on furlough in the fall to fill us in with all the exciting details.

Your Help Is Needed!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 15 at 9:00 a.m. for a cleaning day in the basement. Our goal is to have the classrooms all spruced up and ready for Vacation Bible School!

Attention Ladies

Mark your calendars now for a special brown bag luncheon on Tuesday, June 25 at 12 noon at the home of Jean Grow, 5905 Pleasant Way (off Dalton between 95 and Ramsey). Please plan on attending and spending this time in fellowship with your sisters. Shari Swaim will present a short devotional. Bring your favorite brown bag lunch - drinks will be provided. See you there.

*Wanted free freezer for God for the Fellowship Ministry. See George Wuest.

Shepherd's Corner

'Come to the wedding feast' (Matthew 22:4).

Today is not a wedding feast, but we are extending an invitation to all of you to the congregational meeting, and the B-B-Q that follows.

As the Lord's church we continue to grow, and that requires change. This is a time in which we can discuss these changes, and how we can continue to grow. Congregational meetings are a great way for us to communicate as a family, and to remind us of our focus as God's family.

This is also a wonderful time of fellowship as we spend this time together. We look forward to seeing all of you there.

Game Night

Do you like to play board games, card games, dominos, etc.? Be sure and set aside the second Friday of each month for this. We're planning a big turnout and lots of fun and, of course, how could we possibly get together without FOOD? Please bring snacks and drinks; we'll put them all out and nibble as the hunger pangs strike. Please bring any games you like to play. If you are a family with children, come and bring the little ones. Just be sure to bring an activity for them so they will have fun and supervision while you are having your fun. Game night will be Friday, June 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the kitchen area. For more information, call Betty Williams at 762-4485.

Mike's Memos

MUSIC CAMP 2002 begins next Sunday!!

God's book says, 'It is good to praise the Lord...Sing for joy to the God of our strength....Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him....Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord.'

It is my firm conviction that every person with normal hearing and vocal anatomy has the ability to sing. With this God-given capability comes the Christian responsibility to find and refine this talent.

We pray that this camp session will be a fun, exciting, exhilarating, enthusiastic week in which every staff member and every camper becomes intoxicated with the sheer joy of making music and praising God. We expect each day to be filled with activities which praise and glorify God and which teach us how to praise him better. We want to foster the special friendship bonding that happens when kids share time in a common interest, and allow the beautiful mode of music to lend its enchanting power to the tie that binds us together in love....in Christ.

I am very thankful for God's blessing, and for yours in allowing me to be away to spend some wonderful, exhausting time with 60+ kids from all over the Northwest praising God, building faith, learning skills, and making wonderful Christian memories that will last a lifetime.

The next week I, along with another group of kids from here and other congregations, will return to Camp Prince's Pine for Senior Bible Camp. Please pray for all of us as we spend these two weeks at the camp, that we will be healthy and safe, that God will be glorified, and that we will be drawn closer to Him.

NEW QUARTER - NEW MINISTRY!!!

We appreciate Steve & Paula Jaynes for getting a college age class going, and for their willingness to help Paul & Katrina Swaim get a full-fledged COLLEGE AGE MINISTRY started. This ministry will be aimed toward meeting the needs of members aged 18 to.....twenty-whatever.

Classroom #3 will be the group's meeting place every Sunday morning at 9 am where they are completing a study of Revelation with Steve & Paula, and on Wednesday night at 6:30 in a study of spiritual warfare with Paul & Katrina. On Sunday nights at 7pm the group will meet in the Swaim's home at 3635 N. 37th, St. Apt B-3 for fellowship and to share a Bible discussion series 'A Heart For God' taken from the Psalms. I am excited about the possibilities for this new ministry, and pray that all who are in this age category will pitch in to help make it grow.

Help for the 'Wee Ones'

We appreciate Nancy Litterell's leadership in this program. Please call her and volunteer to help her out. She would like to schedule different helpers for 1 month at a time. Call 623-5079.

A Time For Reflecting - Dan Dupey

We have all been exposed to the reality that School is OUT! Now, where do we go from here? What will our students carry forward? What kind of example will they show? And, what influence will they give or how will they be influenced?

As we reflect on our year at C.C.S. we hope that we have instilled in our students the promise of God! The exposure that our students have had throughout the year will give them, we pray, a beginning. It will give them the building stones of a solid foundation. Daily chapel, classroom prayers, and daily Bible classes for all of the students creates a strong spiritual atmosphere.

This year has been another step in the right direction as we directed our students through Bible History, Lessons of Jesus, and specific Journeys of the Bible. We have defined Love, Courage, Friendship, Morality, Leadership, Obedience, Discipline, and other topics throughout the year in our chapel program. Our students have been encouraged daily as they praised God in singing, praying, and reading scripture. They have taken that step forward by finishing the year, passing the grade, and knowing more about God than they ever did before! We are thankful that God has given us the chance to change the lives of His children for another year!
