Family News March 24, 2002 Short By STUFF Dave ShanerThis last week, winter has tried to give us its last ditch effort to keep Spring from coming. The cycles of the seasons is a gift from God. When Noah came out of the ark, he offered a pleasing sacrifice to God and the Lord promised to never again destroy the living creatures regardless of the evil inclinations of man. He then added a blessing saying, 'As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.' - Genesis 8:22. This cycle is important for life to continue. Though the winters of North Idaho may seem long, they produce life. They provide for us a very good water supply among other things. The same is true in the spiritual realm. This death-life cycle is also the core of all of Christianity. Jesus said, ' I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.' - John 12:24. In order to have life, death must come first. If you want to experience the streams of living water that come only through the Holy Spirit, you must die to yourself and allow God to make you new again. And this is only possible because Jesus died in order to produce new life. The changing seasons are one of the blessings that God has so graciously given to us. But an even greater blessing is the eternal life that springs forth from the grave. It was great to see the house full last week for church service on MIQVAH Sunday. Next week, we would like to encourage you to bring a friend with you. We will be focusing on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The singing will be inspirational and it is the chance to share in the supper of the Lord. Being 'Easter', you have a great opportunity to invite some guests as they are more likely to be receptive than at other times. We will have several that will be gone either on spring break vacation or to LTC. Let's make up for their absence by filling the house. Have a Great Week!! Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Rom. 11:33
Elders available for shepherding: Prayer Ministry Russ Allen, Sandi Bloem, & Margie Waddell Last Friday two of our Prayer Ministry leaders, Russ and Margie, were able to have prayer with Sandi Bloem, Mayor of Coeur d'Alene. What a wonderful way for this church to impact out local government. Great News!! Congratulations to Nathan Frisk, Connor Morris, Ashlin Reeves, Chynna Freshour, and Aaron Neubauer. They all experienced true MIQVAH, the water that gives life, as they were baptized at the youth rally last weekend. These young people have all been studying and considering baptism for some time. We are so proud of them, and I know all of us will want to be sure they feel welcome in their new spiritual family, as they grow up in the Lord.Shepherd's Corner Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed? There are problems at work. Everyone needs your attention at home. Things have happened at church. Your spiritual life has had some ups and downs, and has become a struggle. Then to top things off you have developed some health problems, and all of this stress continues to make it worse.Did you ever consider that God has allowed these struggles for your spiritual growth, and because He has a plan for us. In Luke 22:31-32, Jesus tells Peter that Satan will sift him like wheat, and explains why. But Peter didn't understand it at that time. In I Peter 1:3-9, Peter writes that we will go through various trials that we may grow in purity with God just as fire refines and purifies gold. My problem is that I want to see and understand why this is happening. Sometimes I want to walk by sight, and not by faith. We need to have faith that God will work this out in His own time. In his book Seeing the Unseen Joe Beam refers to the life of Joseph as an illustration of this. Joseph suffered various struggles, but he remained faithful to God. It wasn't until his brothers came to him that he understood what was God's plan (Read Gen. 45:5-8). I don't know why we go through specific struggles. I do know that we need to trust in the Lord (Ps. 37:3-7), and to be strong in the Lord (Eph. 6:10-18). - Dave Bruner LADIES' NOTES....

Response from our Benevolence Ministry Please read the special letter from Frank Daniels on the bulletin board. Mike's Memos 'Living The Dream Of Jesus' Our 23rd Annual Youth Rally, MIQVAH 2002 is history, and some beautiful pages were written. The prettiest pages of all tell the stories of the baptisms of Chris Perryman from Northside, Jaina Beeson from Moscow, and Nathan Frisk, Connor Morris, Ashlin Reeves, Chynna Freshour, and Aaron Neubauer from here at Dalton Gardens. Seven teenagers gave their hearts and their lives to Jesus, and all of us were brought closer to the Lord as we learned to dream His dream. Accounting: We had 151 registered guests, with others attending, though non-registered. We took in $1285 in registration fees and paid out $1168 for five visiting teachers, 150 dinners, 120 sack lunches, snacks, decorations and miscellaneous supplies, leaving us a cash flow of $116. Thank You's An event like this always requires the prayerful cooperation of the whole church family. You were wonderful. You provided homes and meals for 132 visitors; you baked or bought 70 dozen cookies; you were crowded on Sunday and nobody grumbled. And you assisted with every need. Thank you for your willingness to serve and share, for your Christ-like hearts, and praise God for his awesome blessings. Now it's Phoenix time!!!! Leadership Training for Christ Southwest Region Convention in Phoenix This Thursday - Sunday Please pray for God's continued guidance as the young people in LTC complete their preparation for this special event, and get ready to travel to Arizona where, I have it on good authority, that it isn't snowing. Look at the bulletin board in the lobby to see the names of kids involved in all the different events. Be praying for them this weekend as they participate. Anyone willing to help one of these kids financially with this trip see Mike. We appreciate those who have already helped. There will be a brief meeting of the LTC kids and their parents in the small auditorium immediately after Sunday morning worship. Kids, don't forget to bring a sack lunch. We will be practicing all afternoon. News Flash!!! Now I've seen it all...... Kelly D. is standing out in front of the church, in the snow, in her PJ's, holding a pot of tea up in the sun. Yes, she still thinks she is in New Mexico making sun tea!!!! 'Well,' she says, 'it seemed like a good idea!' ?????Actually she was trying to cool it off. (I love ya, Kelly!!) CCS CORNER - School News Happy first week of spring! Spring fever has sprung, and the children are ready to run among the flowers in the fresh green grass, soaking in some warm sunshine. The students competing were: 3rd grade - Jenna Davis, and Micaela Dehlbom; 4th grade - Will Capps; 5th grade - Nick Keough and Justin Sand; 6th grade - Chris Dehlbom and Brandi Welter; 8th grade - Heather Hall. Congratulations, you are all winners to us! Spring break is coming April 1st - 5th. That may be hard to believe since it looks more like 'Jingle Bells' outside than frolicking. Have a God filled week! CCS Auction - Donations Needed! The CCS Auction committee is needing donations for the Kid's Silent auction table. Reeves Report News from Kara, Africa reports that teaching in the villages is going quite well. The attendance at N'Djei is averaging about 40 people, and Legue Legue averages about 50 each week. They have finished an Old Testament study of God and creation, and begun a series on the life of Jesus all in the Kabiye language of the common people. David, Becky, Hannah and Elijah are all healthy, and coping with the hot, dry season in Kara. Temperatures usually stay above 90 even at night. Everyone keep praying for the Reeves and all the Togo Team as they share the good news of Jesus with a people who have never heard of the Savior. The Reeves will be in the states for their first furlough this fall.......spending time at their supporting congregations of Richland, WA, Bentonville, AR, and Dalton Gardens, ID, as well as visiting with family and friends.
