Family News July 8, 2001 Short By Stuff Dave Shaner It was truly a blessing to be able to have Jerry, Pam, and Levi Sisemore with us last week for our annual missions seminar. The lessons and information that was shared with us should help us to Think Globally and Act Locally. The special time of honoring was very special to the Sisemore's. The scriptures ask us to honor such workers. Their love for the Lord and the Russian people along with their work in Siberia was very deserving of our recognition. A lot of moist eyes were seen at this special time. Be sure to keep the Siberian work in your prayers. Our involvement in the development of the Lord's church in Russia has also been very encouraging. As reported during the seminar, Pam will be staying in the U.S. as Jerry will be closing out his time in Siberia. Levi will be going back to Russia for 6 months - a year before returning to get enrolled in an American school. Current plans call for one of the Russian instructors to take over the directorship of the school. The Sunset School of Preaching will still be overseeing the work, however. It is very exciting to be able to see the development of the Russian brethren such that they will be able to take this responsibility on for themselves. The school has currently 35 students with 12 more applicants. The church in Barnaul, Siberia (as far as we know) is now the largest in Russia. They are sending out preachers to all parts of the country to help the church become stronger. There are about 60 congregations of the churches of Christ known to exist in the country. Jim & Elva Miller also reported that the Lifeline of Hope is concentrating the bulk of their efforts in eastern Russia. The Lifeline of Hope is a non-denominational, non-profit corporation that exists to provide humanitarian aid to that part of the country. They have, through this medium, however, been able to help the church to become established and mature in this part of the country. A mark of maturity in any church its when it reaches out beyond its own immediate area of influence to areas around the world. Continue to remember the work in Nigeria, Togo, Astoria, and Bonners Ferry in your prayers as well. But don't forget about our own front door. Kootenai county also has thousand of souls who are in need of the precious gospel of Jesus. One way you can take the gospel to our town is to come out on Tuesday evenings to visit, encourage, and study with others. You can go out at any time, but this is just a special time we set aside to make sure we don't forget our mission. Feel free to come join us at 6:30 pm. Have a Great Week!! "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." - Colossians
2:6-7
Education Our new 4-week PRAYER MINISTRY class began today with Ray Rayburn. It is designed for all adults of the congregation. If anyone missed it, I hope you will plan to be present for the next three class sessions This Wednesday night, Dave Shaner will begin a new class called "SHARING JESUS". Every adult member of this church should be present. Are you figuring on how you can be there, or are you figuring on excuses? Let's get serious about sharing Jesus with others.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR MISSIONS SEMINAR SUPPORT This past week we had a very enriching experience for both the Sisemores and this congregation. Thanks go to so many people: planning committee, decoration crew, barbecuers, all who donated medical supplies, contributors to the money tree, those who provided meals, and those who participated in the services. The Sisemore were so appreciative of our outpouring of love and support. Pam especially was touched by the "warm fuzzies" from the ladies. Thanks to the teens for involving Levi in your activities.
Prayer Requests Please pray for Janice Beauchene, Lynelle Dehlbom's mother. She is having medical tests and may have cancer. Please pray for Anita Haman and her husband, Gary. May God restore Anita's health. Continue to pray for God's hand in Shari Swaim's healing. Pray for strength during her treatments. Keep Mike and their family in your prayers. Remember to keep two of the Togo Team members in your prayers. Little Graham Reis is having seizures and has been flown back to the U.S. with his mother Tracy for tests and treatment. John Earnest, Betty Clemetson's father, broke his hip and had surgery to repair it. He is in Transitional Care, and would appreciate your prayers. John is 92 years old. It has been over 25 years since he attended church, but could be brought back to the Lord with some encouragement. Take some time to visit him. He is very receptive to visits. Karley Graham is now home following surgery and doing better. She will be laid up for about 5 weeks but would appreciate your continued prayers. Ed Hastie, Patty Welter's friend, was involved in a racing accident. He broke his left leg and right ankle. Please pray for a speedy recovery. Robert Mather, Joyce Erwin's uncle, has been diagnosed with advanced stages of leukemia. Remember to keep their family in your prayers, especially Minnie Santos, as this is an extremely difficult time for her. Janell Daly, John Erwin's sister, is having some problems with dialysis. Also, her husband Rich Daly has a rapid growing cancer. Claudia Moberg asks us to remember to keep her brother, Ernie Strebeck and her brother-in-law, Larry Moberg in your prayers. They are both suffering with back problems. Ron Bristow, Mae Fultz's son had surgery last week. Pray he heals and recovers quickly. Continue Praying For.... * David Morgan * Mark Mood * Ken Huseby * Jerry Welch * The Togo Team * Barbra Cooper * Jenny Dupey * Jeff Hall * Cap Carpenter * Wilmer Brown * Evelyn Taylor *
Thank You! Thanks so much for all the prayers for my dad. He will be in Transitional Care for quite a while. -Betty Clemetson

Mike's Memos Just reporting the news .... there were 117 campers attending Camp Prince's Pine the first two sessions with four baptisms, many lives recommitted, everyone spiritually revived, and some wonderful Christian fun and fellowship. During Music Camp, we learned several new songs which we hope to share with the congregation in the near future. Although some of us came home pretty used up, and a little "under the weather", the memories are beautiful ones. We all had a blast! and the nearest we came to an injury was when a horseshoe rung Michael Tompkin's nose instead of the metal post. Michael shared a little blood and a wonderful attitude, and everybody was fine. I'm already looking forward to Music Camp 2002. I appreciated all the staff but want to say a special "bulletin thank you" to the ones from Dalton...Teri Dupey, Kathy Shaner, Jennie Brown & David Rude. Other great staff members included Greg & Leslie Rommann from Whidby Island, Jonathan & Dawnette Thomas from Wenatchee, John Leland from Northside, Paul Gorsline from the Valley congregation in Spokane Dave & Beth Iliff from Libby, and Donny Adams from Pasco. My thanks to all. Registrations are coming in for Senior Camp(9th-12th grades completed), for Junior Camp(6th-8th grades completed), and for Pre-Teen Camp(3rd-5th grades completed). Get registrations from the Track Rack in the foyer, and register NOW!! This week has been a blur of activities.....We enjoyed hosting the Sisemores, especially Levi at our swimming party at Tony Rude's on Monday (Thanks Howard & Del), and our Pizza Party on Tuesday. Several of us had a great time down at the Rude's cabin at St. Maries(Thanks Don & Betty)on Wednesday. We had TNT at our house on Thursday night. The Tri-Cities churches invited us to go to Silverwood with them and teens from the Valley church on Friday, and on Saturday several spent the afternoon and evening at the Fredrickson's. Whew!!!! Summer has arrived!!! Some of us need CPR......... CPR RENEWAL CLASS Robin Utter has agreed to conduct a class for those who need our CPR / First Aid certification renewed. Anyone interested please call Robin or the church office. TNT THURSDAY NIGHT FOR TEENS SCHEDULE July 12 Grows' Home
