The Lord's people need to be known as a people who go around doing good. Sometimes, we get caught up in church business and looking at ourselves, and we forget what we are about. One of the things that I appreciate about our "Soup-Kitchen"it is that is an opportunity to do good to others with no strings attached. Do I hope that we can meet some others to share with them the message of Christ? Yes. Do I hope that those who are currently not saved can come to know Christ? Yes. Do I hope that a Bible study can be set up because of our association with those who attend our kitchen. Yes. If they do not respond, does that mean they do not get fed? No. Not just as a church, but as individuals, we need to go about seeking good that we can do for others. A lady called me just this morning from South Dakota who wants to donate some funds to the church here for the children involved in the "North Idaho Standoff" near Sagle. She just wants to be able to help. She does not mean for her name to be known, but she does want them to know that the churches of Christ care. I am sure that we will be able to see to it that these children receive some help. Whether it is this situation or someone in the community with a different need, let's be determined to not simply let an opportunity to do good pass us by.

Jesus was known as a man who went about doing good. "You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him." - Acts 10:37-38. How are you known? "Take every opportunity to good to all men, especially those in the family of God" - Galatians 6:10. You may get taken advantage of sometime, but better for that to happen than to develop a distrust for people. After all, no matter what happens to us on earth, we have heaven to look forward to.

Be sure to be present at the Bar-B-Cue and fellowship time this afternoon at Finucane Park. This would be a great opportunity to bring your friends and neighbors to share with them the blessings of being a Christian.

Have a Great Week!!

"We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love which you have for all the saints"

Missions Weekend

Is your schedule calendar marked with a hold for July 1st, 2nd, & 3rd for being here as Jerry, Pam, and Levi Sisemore share their missionary stories? The morning Bible class time will be devoted to having Jerry speak to men, Pam sharing with women and Levi interacting with the teens. Our Major Theme:

Think Globally, Acting Locally. Sub Themes: Women - Her Story and Teens - Survival Times. Teens especially want to explore what it has been like spending teen years growing up in a culture so much different from Levi's first 12 years in a U.S. home and culture.

For your planning, Sunday morning Bible study and worship will be on the normal time schedule. Sunday late afternoon a BBQ is planned, followed by an evening presentation by Jerry. A late evening question and answer session is planned where questions can be answered by Jerry and Pam in an informal setting. Monday evening Jerry will again speak, followed by a second evening question and answer session.

On Tuesday, a ladies brown bag lunch is a time reserved for sharing with Pam. Then, that evening a very special prayer, praise, and recognition service will cap the meeting. Be sure to reserve that time to participate in a spiritual uplifting event for both us and the Sisemores.

Mission Donations Needed!

The Sisemores, our missionaries from Siberia, will be here July1-3. There are a number of items that you may be able to help with that they can take back with them. Any of the following would be very helpful: Simple over-the-counter cold remedies; antihistamines, nasal and chest decongestants, all in pill/tablet form, both for adults and children. They are also in need of prenatal vitamins for three women. They have a hard time getting it over in Russia, and would really appreciate these items to take back with them. You may place your donations in the box in the church foyer. Thanks for your support!

CCS Corner - School News

Summer is here! Can you believe it is June?! We finished off our last week of school with several activities. On Wednesday we had Aluminum Can Day, with emphasis on recycling, games and food. Several parents also enjoyed helping/playing various games, such as the "pop walk," similar to a "cake walk," shooting cans with water guns, rolling cans, knocking, stacking and smashing cans. Also, Mrs. DuPey did face painting which had a huge line. Patti Welter, our PTO president, cooked some delicious hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch. Thursday was K and 8th grade graduation, and Friday was awards day.

We had a wonderful last week, and a fantastic school year! Thanks to all of you who have contributed time and money to help make our school so great! You are very much appreciated!

Upcoming summer activities that you are invited to participate in are: 4th of July Parade, Fireworks Booth, and of course decorating your "neighbors" yard with flamingos!
