Stuff  Dave Shaner

Last Sunday evening, the church here had a family meeting. In my opinion, it was very beneficial for all concerned. A lot of ideas and thoughts were shared by many brothers and sisters concerning the direction of the Dalton Gardens congregation. It is obvious that not all agree with every assessment. Nor will that ever happen anyway. Ask any married couple as they must continually learn to communicate better to be on the same wavelength. We are individual Christians within the one body pursuing the same dream, which is a deeper fellowship with God. Not everyone will see things the same, but we must remember always that we are on the same team. What was so important about Sunday's meeting was that so many people had the opportunity to speak and be able to express themselves. Even with a three hour meeting, much more could have been said. I, personally, appreciate your prayers on my behalf as I strive to overcome pride and that I might be more fervent in reaching out to non-Christians. A lot of good was accomplished, yet we still need all of your help to aid us in becoming the church that the Lord desires of us.

Also, the church finances were discussed at the congregational meeting. As most of you know, we have been running significantly short for most of the year. Either income must increase or expenses must decrease or a combination of both. There is likely some room for both, but giving is often more a matter of faith than supply. Economically, there has been a small downturn, but "God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.." Be sure to keep this in your prayers as you evaluate what you are able to give to the Lord.

Our upcoming mission meeting will be July 1-3. Jerry, Pam, and Levi Sizemore, missionaries in Barnaul, Siberia, Russia will be here to help us appreciate our worldwide mission as well as help us explore how we can better evangelize our own community. We have been helping to support that work for about 4 years and have seen a great deal of fruit come from it. The school of preaching now has over 35 students, both men and women. Many new congregations have been started throughout Russia because of this, and the Barnaul congregation itself has grown significantly. Be sure to keep the Sizemores in your prayers as they travel.

Have a Great Week!!

"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. "

- I John 4:7-8

"Are you ready to see the power of God do great things in the body?"
More coming soon.

LTC Meeting

Praise and Worship Night!

This Wednesday night May 30, at 6:30 p.m., we will be having our monthly praise and worship evening. All the classes will be meeting in the small auditorium for a time of encouragement, singing, prayer, and scripture reading. Be sure to come and be a part of this. Your presence encourages everyone else!

Mission Donations Needed!

The Sisemores, our missionaries from Siberia, will be here July1-3. There are a number of items that you may be able to help with that they can take back with them. Any of the following would be very helpful: Simple over-the-counter cold remedies; antihistamines, nasal and chest decongestants, all in pill/tablet form, both for adults and children. They are also in need of prenatal vitamins for three women. They have a hard time getting it over in Russia, and would really appreciate these items to take back with them. You may place your donations in the box in the church office. Thanks for your support!

Celebration 2001

This is another year to go and fellowship with thousands of people who love the Lord. The days that the workshop will be going are, July 5-7th. It is at Camp Berachah. There are some awesome speakers that will be speaking there, as always. If you want to be lifted up and inspired by God through some amazing praise and lectures, then please plan to go!

Mikes Memos:

by shorter stuff

(a.k.a. David Rude)

I had the wonderful pleasure of going to the Tri-Cities youth rally this past weekend, with 11 teens, and the Simpsons, and the Dupeys. And of course, we all had a fantastic time.

The theme of the rally was UNDER THE INFLUENCE. The main point was, after everything gets boiled down, there are only two influences in this world. God and all his goodness, and Satan, and all his evilness. H.A.M., Heart Actions, Mind; this acronym was helpful throughout the weekend to show that we need to give everything to God. When we are willing to completely wrap ourselves up in Christ, there are many things that can happen to us. For example, we might get persecuted because of our faith that we have in God. But we know that he will always be there to help us out. He knows what we are going through, because Jesus did the same thing. And probably even to a greater extent than we would ever have to. He gave his life and everything for God.

There was a special drama group that travels around the world, who did a few skits for us. Of course the themes of them were, under the influence. One of them showed how we need to let God tell us where we need to go, and let the Holy Spirit guide us.

We NEED to let God be the influence in our lives.

Mike is back. He got in yesterday afternoon.

CCS Corner - School News

In Bible class for the K,1, 2, graders we have been studying about friends who cared enough to take their friends to Jesus. I ask the children "Why they would want to bring their friends to Jesus?" Most of them answered so they can get to heaven.

I then asked them "Why they would want to go to heaven?" Here are some of their responses:

1. No more boo-boo's in Heaven.
2. No more swats.
3. Heaven has pretty flowers.
4. I would not get in trouble anymore.
5. No more hurt feelings.
6. My family will be there.
7. There is gold there.
8. Because they have the biggest trees to climb.
9. I can fish whenever I want to.
10. No more tears.
11. You never have to get your haircut.
12. Never get hit by a fan.
13. Never have to go to the bathroom.
14. You will always be with Jesus.
15. Never wash dishes.
16. You will get beautiful crowns there.
17. No sunburns there.
18. Heaven is the BEST place you can be!

I would say Amen to that. God has given us so many riches here on earth, and to just think it does not even compare to heaven. Why would you not want to go and take your friends with you? What have you done to bring a friend to Jesus? As for myself I know this is an area I need to improve on.

Proverbs 27:10 is telling us not to fail our friends who are in need; when in need we are to rely on our friendship. This is physically, emotionally and most important spiritually.

God has blessed me with many friends whom I love dearly, and if I have forsaken you, please forgive me. Love in Christ,

Kathy Morse
