MAY 13, 2001 Short By Stuff Dave Shaner I recently ran across this story and thought it gives a good message. "Once upon a time, a child was ready to be born. So he asked God, "How am I going to live there being so small and helpless?" God answered, "Among the many angels, I chose one for you. She will be waiting for you and will take care of you." The Child asked, "Here in Heaven, I don't do anything else but sing and smile, that's enough for me to be happy. God answered, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel your angel's love and be happy." The Child asked, "How will I learn?" "I don't know the language that men talk?" God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to live." The Child asked, "What am I going to do when I want to talk to you?" God smiled, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray." The Child pleaded, "Who will protect me?" God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life." At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could already be heard, and the child in a hurry asked softly: "Oh God, if I am about to leave now, please tell me my angel's name?" Your angel's name.. Well...you will call your angel, "Mommy." - Anonymous Your mom is likely the biggest influencer in your life. Dads are important as well but in a different context. Mothers set the tone and attitude of cheerfulness in most homes. In the scriptures, Timothy became a preacher because of the faith that was instilled in him because of his mother and grandmother. Don't let the moments pass that you have to let her know that you love her. If you can.. go to your Mom.. give her a big hug.. and tell her you love her. If she lives in some other place.. call her.. and let her know how special she is to you. If like many of us ... your Mother has left this world.. show your love for her by sharing that love with someone else. Make this Mother's Day special by sharing the love your Mother gave you with some one who needs someone to love them. She would be proud of you for that! Have a Great Week !! "Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a women who fears the Lord, she shall be praised." -Proverbs 31:30 Happy Mother's Day!

Mike's Memos Summer Youth Intern It is fantastic to see young people make the choice to train for ministry in the Lord's body. It makes us very proud to see our kids grow up and go off to college with plans for a degree in Bible, Missions or Youth Ministry. They receive excellent teaching and training experiences at our Christian Universities. At the local church we can supplement their schooling, provide them with a summer job, and receive some of the benefits of their learning by giving them "on the job training" as youth interns. Several congregations in the Northwest have interns coming this summer. At Dalton, we are fortunate to have David Rude coming from Cascade College. David is the son of Jim & Diane Rude of Astoria, OR, and the grandson of Don & Betty, so he already knows many of our teens, and they know him. I have enjoyed knowing David for the past five years, and truly appreciate his devotion to the Lord, and his tireless work ethic...so willing to serve and do for others. David is a multi-talented young man who is always ready to share his faith and his love for God. He will be an asset to the church here this summer. He will assist with many facets of the youth ministry, and assist in the overall work of the congregation...helping us, and gaining experience and skills for his future work in God's Kingdom. Welcome David! "UNDER THE INFLUENCE" Next weekend, May 18th - 20th David, along with the Dupeys and the Simpsons will be taking a group of our teens to Kennewick for the Tri-Cities Youth Rally. Any teens who are not registered need to see me ASAP! TNT THURSDAY NIGHT FOR TEENS SCHEDULE May 17 Schild's Home
CCS Corner - School News Coeur d'Alene Christian School would like to cordially invite you to our Talent Show this Thursday, May 17th, at 7:00 p.m. We will be singing about sailing on God's Sea, and we have a lot of individual talents too! God has really blessed us with gifts to share with each other. Join us for an uplifting evening of entertainment. Filling Their Lives With Christ - 24/7 We get new students regularly who have never been exposed to the gospel. It still surprises me when a new parent brings their child in and says, "We don't have a Bible around our house. We will have to go buy one." When we teach our Bible classes,
sometimes we just take for granted what we think the students should know.
New students occasionally ask questions like, "What is resurrection?" and
"What is baptism?" Everyday opportunities to answer questions like these
are rare. How blessed we are to be brought these children and given this
opportunity to share the gospel.
Don't Forget the CCS Talent Show! Thursday, May 17th 7:00 P.M. Small Auditorium

What I want is your physical help! I don't think I need to tell most of you what the camp has done for this church and for the cause of Christ in the Northwest. Many of our strongest young adults have come through our camp over the last 19 years and I believe camp has contributed greatly to that strength. We have had a strong teaching /counseling staff for a long time.
