The life of a church has its ups and downs. Jesus came to give us not only eternal life by being a sacrifice atoning for our sins, but He also promised a life today that is one hundred times greater in the present life as compared to life without him. Indeed life in Christ is an exciting journey, but that does not mean that it is without troubles. In fact, Jesus even promised us such. He stated, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have over come the world." - John 16:33. This is true for each of us personally and as a church body.

The Dalton Gardens body of believers is a wonderful group. We have a good mix of people of all ages. There are many dedicated servants of God in all of our 3 major ministries: Winning the Lost, Maturing the Saints, and Knitting the Body Together. Bible Studies are taking place daily, people are being fed both spiritually and physically, love is abounding, God is being praised. God's presence is so evident and vivid in so many of you. Much of what takes place among this church takes place individually and spontaneously. This is good and noteworthy. Yet with all this said, the Dalton church is smaller today than we were 3 years ago. During that time, over 100 have chosen to be a part of a different body of believers. The reasons for this exodus are myriad, but it is not generally because of any animosity toward the body here. It is so easy to get discouraged when this happens. It is also easy to point fingers and blame somebody, but remember that the kingdom of God is bigger than any one congregation. However, we would like to encourage you to keep your hopes and dreams on God and his will for you. What are you going to do? Remember this "we know that God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." - Romans 8:28. Many switch churches because they feel another group meets their needs better. We need to seek to be there for others and help other's needs to be met in Christ. The Christian is to be in the business of meeting others' needs not in the business of getting their needs met. When Jesus called each of us to be a disciple, he called us to deny ourselves, take up a cross, and follow him. I am convinced that your needs are met by Christ when you are busy serving others. The ultimate way to be happy is not to seek happiness itself, but it is a by product of serving one another in love. Our post-modern world has a consumer mentality. Many are Christians today because of what they can get out of it for themselves. Jesus, on the other hand, was willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause? Today's world is like a shopping center where we will pick up what benefits us. Christ did not die on the cross for himself, but for you. We also must live and die in service to others, not to ourselves. When we display the mind of Christ, the hundred-fold promise will come true. His blessings are reserved for those whose hearts are truly His.

As a church, we need to work together more. I believe that we are getting better. Let's continue to improve in our unity and constantly encourage one another to follow Christ.

Have a Great Week!!

Behold, how good and how pleasent it is when brothers live together in unity.

-Psalm 133:1

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the blood of peace.

-Ephesians 4:3

Reminder:

ELDERS/ DEACONS/ STAFF...

Don't forget the special time of prayer at 3:00 P.M. today! It would be powerful if, while the leaders are praying for you, the congregation would be praying for them.

Work Days-Camp Prince's Pine

THIS WEEKEND, May 11-13, is scheduled to do needed maintenance and to make upgrades that will improve the camp. We need workers - men, women and children - and those who will agree to organize a crew to do the work. We will be staining cabins, building in bunks, insulating the lodge and just in general making the camp better. Gerald Smith, of Colville, will have all the needed supplies there for us. We need only bring tools and energy. You are encouraged to come for any part, or all of the weekend. This will be a great family outing and will show the camp board that you appreciate having the facility available for our families.

There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk in the foyer for you to indicate your willingness to help and where you prefer to work. Food will be provided, so please sign-up soon so we can make necessary food purchases, and make work crew assignments. " Thank you."

Our children are being challenged to learn so much in Bible Hour. Right now, along with their other work, they are memorizing the books of the Old & New Testaments. The following students have already recited the names of the books:

Old And New Testament
Jenna Davis, Elliny Hiebert, Andrew Henrikson, and Nick Keough

New Testament

We are all proud of these accomplishments, and appreciate the Bible Hour staff and the parents who make the extra effort to help train our little ones. Proverbs 22:6

Mike's Memos

Next Sunday is Mother's Day, and although my mother has gone on to heaven, her influence in my life is felt every day. She was a beautiful Christian woman with strong convictions, but always willing to listen and learn, and change when she saw a better way. I thought of her when I read the following:

At age 85 Mama changed her mind about God, and allowed Him to change her heart. "Everything is different now," she said. "I'm not empty anymore."

And now she prays. Just as Mama was leaving our home on a recent visit, our puppy ran away, disappearing into the woods behind our house. I fumed about this rebellious pup who bolts at every opportunity. Mama looked me in the eye and asked, "Where's your faith? I'll pray about this,"she said.

Swift and sure conviction swept over me. This little woman was suddenly a spiritual giant towering over me. Where was my faith?

Within five minutes of her departure, the dog was back in the house, happily wolfing down his dinner. When I passed along the good news, Mama said, "Boy, He works fast! I talked with Him just as I left your driveway!"

Mama looked for 85 years and never found anything to fill the emptiness only God can fill. She taught us her best lesson yet--it's never too late to change your mind about God.

Bea Phippen, you are an awesome encouragement to me. Thanks for changing your mind about God, and being such a wonderful example to us all.

CCS Corner - School News

Everyone is invited to the annual Talent Show on May 17. It will be a lot of fun!

Only five weeks of school are left! It is hard to believe it is May already, especially with the dark rainy days lately, although we are thankful for the much needed moisture.

Mother's Day is coming up soon. The third graders planted some flower seeds for their mothers in little clay pots. They painted the pots with cute little flowers. We are blessed with a wonderful student body this year, and I am very thankful for my enjoyable class. I asked my students what they are thankful for, and this is what they said:

Joshua - my cat.

Korinda - for being a Christian and getting to go to church.

Andrea - for being alive and having my dog.

Hannah - for my dad, he is special to me.

Cody - friends.

Josh - family, my dog and fish, and that I am getting a hamster.

Zachary - for God and my ferret and bird.

Alex - for being a Christian, my family, and for God making me like I am.

I am very thankful for my family and school. I have a lot to be thankful for, how about you?

Psalm 100:1-2 says: "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs."

Camp Prince's Pine

"We have not been asking for your financial help for a long time now. And I am not here to ask for your money today. What I want is your physical help! I don't think I need to tell most of you what the camp has done for this church and for the cause of Christ in the Northwest. Many of our strongest young adults have come through our camp over the last 19 years and I believe camp has contributed greatly to that strength. We have had a strong teaching /counseling staff for a long time.

On May 11-13 we will be having a work time to do needed maintenance and to make upgrades that will improve the camp. We need workers, men, women and children, and those who will agree to organize a crew to do the work. We will be staining cabins, building in bunks, insulating the lodge and just in general making the camp better. Gerald Smith, of Colville, will have all the needed supplies there for us and we need only bring tools and energy. We realize that not all will be able to be there for all three days, many will need to come up on Friday night so they can be ready to go to work early on Saturday. This will be a great family outing and will show the camp board that you appreciate having the facility available for our families.

If you plan to go, food will be provided. There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk in the foyer for you to indicate you willingness to help and where you prefer to work. Please sign-up soon so we can plan for the necessary food. " Thank you."
