April 22, 2001 Short By Stuff Dave Shaner Last Sunday was a wonderful day for the Lord. Thanks to so many of you, we had a good number of visitors for our Friend day. Even with our LTCers gone to Phoenix, we were still way up in our attendance for that day. For the sake of our visitors on any given assembly, remember the 5 minute rule - that is that all members are to spend at least the first 5 minutes after our assembly is over with our guests before we visit with each other. Let's keep up the spirit of reaching out to our friends and neighbors by continuing to bring them to our assemblies. We are all responsible for fulfilling the Great Commission of our Lord (Matthew 28:18-20). This requires both teachers and reachers. Not all can teach, but some can. All can reach and bring them to some one who can. Last Sunday, we saw how horrible that Friday was during what is called the passion week of Jesus. It was on Friday that our Lord was arrested, tried, mocked, spit upon, beaten, and crucified. All of hell shouted in glee to see the one who was to save the world go down with a whimper. Even the heavenly Father had to turn his head at the awful sight of the death of his one and only Son. But God knew something hell did not know - that Sunday was coming! On Friday, Satan bruised Jesus' heal in that he delivered a wounding blow. But on Sunday Jesus crushed Satan's head as he delivered a knock out punch when He was raised from the dead. Thank God for Sunday. That was the day He was raised from the dead. It was the day the early church gathered together in a common assembly to be encouraged to keep up the faith. It was the day the early church took the Lord's Supper together. It was the day that each Christian gave of his income to a common collection so that the Lord's work could grow. It is still the day that 21st Century Christians gather together to do the same things. Every Sunday represents a new week, but the Sunday that Jesus was raised represents a new beginning in your walk with the Lord. Make every day, but especially your Sundays count. Our LTCers did great in Phoenix. They were able to share some of their work with us last Wednesday evening. All of the young people walked away with numerous gold medals as well as many silver and bronze ones as well. Be sure to let both the participants and the staff know how much you appreciate their hard work. Have a Great Week !!! "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Camp Prince's Pine "We have not been asking for your financial help for a long time now. And I am not here to ask for your money today. What I want is your physical help! I don't think I need to tell most of you what the camp has done for this church and for the cause of Christ in the Northwest. Many of our strongest young adults have come through our camp over the last 19 years and I believe camp has contributed greatly to that strength. We have had a strong teaching /counseling staff for a long time. On May 11-13 we will be having a work time to do needed maintenance and to make upgrades that will improve the camp. We need workers, men, women and children, and those who will agree to organize a crew to do the work. We will be staining cabins, building in bunks, insulating the lodge and just in general making the camp better. Gerald Smith, of Colville, will have all the needed supplies there for us and we need only bring tools and energy. We realize that not all will be able to be there for all three days, many will need to come up on Friday night so they can be ready to go to work early on Saturday. This will be a great family outing and will show the camp board that you appreciate having the facility available for our families. If you plan to go, food will be provided. There is a sign-up sheet on the kiosk in the foyer for you to indicate you willingness to help and where you prefer to work. Please sign-up soon so we can plan for the necessary food. Thank you." Bob Harman, President

LEADERSHIP
TRAINING FOR CHRIST
It's over......and we survived!!!!! Not only that, but we came through "smelling like a rose"! Yes, as with any difficult, worthwhile endeavor, there were trials and struggles along the way. Those who persevered until the end, as it teaches us in The Revelation, received victors' crowns......and we learned a lot as well. Not only did we develop existing talents, but we discovered new ones. We also grew in areas such as faith, patience, endurance, love, forgiveness, teamwork, and we learned a great deal from the last book in the New Testament. Our awe and reverence for God, and our hope and expectations for eternity took on new meaning. We truly appreciated the 80+ people who came last Wednesday night to see some of the fruits of our labors, but for those who were not here, the following will give you some idea of how well our kids performed in Phoenix: Bible Reading: 16 gold, 2

CCS Corner - School News This has been a very busy week for all of us at C.C.S. We had IOWA Testing, and getting ready for the auction. The Kindergartners were getting very restless and loud by Wednesday snack time. They were so loud they had to have quiet snack time. One little boy looked up at me and said "I think we need to sing". And they started singing, "Sing Amen, Amen". We get in a hurry so often that it takes a six year old to remind us to take time to praise the Lord. By the time you read this, our annual auction will be over. We greatly appreciate all your help and support. Upcoming events: May 4 - Jog-a-thon and May 17 - Talent Show. God has richly blessed us ... let's unite and sing "Amen, Amen". Kathy Morse It is always the giving season, and the sweetest gifts are often those given just because - for no particular reason.
