April 15 is a day we traditionally associate with the IRS. Actually this year, taxes are due on the 16th. But April 15th this year, is also Easter Sunday. The term, Easter Sunday, as a religious holiday, is not something found in the Bible. But it is a time when many people who normally do not attend any kind of church will give some serious thought about going to a church assembly. It is also known as Resurrection Sunday, being the day Jesus Christ arose from the dead. Jesus was born according to prophecy, of a virgin. He lived a sinless life, died a criminal's death, was buried in a borrowed tomb, and arose triumphantly from the grave on the third day. Not one of these elements of the gospel would be meaningful if the resurrection were not true. It is because of Christ's resurrection that we have the hope of eternal life. Do you believe in the resurrection of Jesus? I am sure that you do. With that in mind, what do you believe will happen to those who are not in the family of God? A basic premise of the scriptures is that sin alienates one from God. Also we know that all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God. Therefore all men have been alienated from God. Our only hope is for the sin to be removed so that the relationship can be restored. This is only possible through the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. A person may try as hard as he can to live a good life, but our goodness does not qualify us for entrance into heaven. It always amazes me how many people think they will go to heaven when they die because they are basically good. This is a way of saying that I am good enough to enter on my own. Only Christ was good enough and he issues passports for others if we will believe it by obeying the gospel. Faith comes through hearing the Word of God.

Let's make April 15 a special day of faith whereby each of us in the Dalton congregation will commit ourselves to bringing at least one friend with us to the assembly on that day. The Word will be preached, Christ will be lifted up, and an opportunity will be present for someone to get his passport stamped. Of course, this can be done on any day, but this is one day when you may find some more receptive hearts.

Have a Great Week!!

Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.

Prayer Requests

Ed Kulinski, Heather Rude's father, passed away last Thursday evening. He has had cancer for only a short time, but it grew very rapidly. As of this writing details of funeral sevices have not been set. Be sure to keep Heather and her family in your prayers.

Barbra Cooper is at home and doing better. It is possible at this time that surgery may not be necessary. It will still be some time before she is able to return to work. They have also responded saying "Thank you" for all the wonderful people who have cared by helping them out in their time of need.

Be sure to keep David Morgan in your prayers. He was sentenced for 3 years in a Juvenile Detention Center. He does have the possibility of getting out after 4 months. His spirits are good, and his faith is growing as he is learning to read God's word and pray more often.

Margaret Mullaly, mother of Rob Mullaly has taken a turn for the worse. They have discovered she has another brain tumor. Please remember the Mullaly family in your prayers.

Remember to keep Shari Swaim in your prayers as she continues treatment and healing.

Steve Lucas, Earlene Reeves' brother-in -law, is in need of our prayers as he struggles with diabetes. He may be facing an amputation soon.

Please pray for Carol Schild and the Carney family. Last week her Uncle passed away. Pray for peace and comfort for their family.

Remember to keep Orient Huseby in your prayers.

Also pray for Kenneth as he waits on her.

The Soup Kitchen

The Soup Kitchen wants to thank Opal Wilson for coming and helping. We always appreciate new volunteers! Over the next couple of weeks we will be putting out brown paper bags to help us get stocked up on some things we desperately need.

In addition, there are needs for a few kitchen miscellaneous items such as: food processor, sharp knives, electric can opener, large pots or frying pans.

Thank you Jo Allen for taking on the job of our new baker of our Soup Kitchen desserts!

We also would appreciate prayer for Paul(a visitor to the Soup Kitchen) whose wife is in the hospital and is not expected to live. Anyone who knows Paul could encourage him as he sits at the hospital.

Mike's Memos

miqvah 2001 is history, except for the memories. And we pray the "living stones" live on in the memories and in the lives of every youth rally participant until the Lord returns. As the apostle said, "As you come to him, the living stone - rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him - you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." I Peter 2:4 - 5

Our thanksgiving is to God as he worked through willing servants, both teens and adults, to facilitate a very successful youth rally. I love you all who gave of yourselves to the Lord as you served him.

Teens, I'm very proud of you....all of you. Together you made a powerful impact on the lives of a large group of your peers. Your commitment to the activities of the weekend was excellent. A huge thank you is due those who helped all along the way as the plans developed, and as "pieces" literally came together. To the teen teachers, and their adult helpers, God spoke through you. Thanks for allowing Him the time to use your talents. Kurt, you were a stud. The extra hours you put in, and your help with the basic plan from the beginning, were invaluable. And James, you were a rock....a true living stone...pouring blood, sweat and tears...your heart and soul.... into every part of MIQVAH 2001. Thank you. May you, and all whose lives we touched, continue to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Amen.

LTC YARD SALE

Postponed until a better date

Our Phoenix Convention is only four weeks away! We have thirty-four teens and parents planning to go on this trip. Some are needing help with the plane fare of $253. If you have odd jobs, or want to make a donation, or have things for the Yard Sale, let us know.

We need more "stuff".

Honor where honor is due

Jessica Bruner was the Elks scholar of the month at Lake City High School. Congratulations Jessica!

Honor Roll - A large number of our teens receive academic honors at their schools. I've been trying to get the list complete before I print and leave someone out. I still need the list from Lake City, and Timberlake. I'd appreciate your help.

CCS Corner

Many exciting events are happening at the Coeur d'Alene Christian School. Our basketball teams both played energetic games on Tuesday! The younger kids, 3rd-5th grades have another game on Thursday. Schedules are across from the school office. The kids enjoy having practices at the Dalton Elementary gym. Coaches Jordan Keough and James Dupey work very diligently with the kids. We appreciate their hard work, and the time they put in.

On Thursday evening several students will represent our school in the Regional Spelling Bee in Harrison.

This coming Tuesday evening, the 27th, is the annual "Creativity Fair." Everyone is invited to come to the school and enjoy Science, Literature, and Art projects, by all of the students, K-8th. Please come, and invite friends and neighbors.

Radio spots are still available for $25.00 each to advertise the Auction on Oldies station 101.1. We need your help to make this a big success! Call Georgette Rude at 964-2931. If you like to bake, we need your baked goods also!

We love our school and have a wonderful student body. Many of the students are from our community, and do not come from Christian homes. This school is a fantastic outreach into our community and is making a huge influence in these children, and their families' lives. We have the opportunity to answer their daily questions about life, with scripture. They, in turn, go to their parents and churches with these answers. Please pray that God blesses our school, so we can spread the good news!

Mrs. Sandy Simpson (3rd grade teacher)

Please remember to sign up in the foyer to donate baked goods. The auction will be April 21st at Kootenai Fairgrounds.
