Stuff  Dave Shaner

By the time this article is read our annual MIQVAH youth rally will be over. The number of preregistrations alone told us that it was going to be a tremendous success. There was no imported speaker this year. There are many talented youth preachers throughout the country who can teach and inspire our young people very effectively. But it is also felt that we have a great deal of talent within our own youth group. The teens prepared well and have not disappointed us.

The construction of a pyramid was a huge task in Egypt and proved to be here as well. My son, Zachary, and I have had the opportunity to visit the pyramids in Egypt. When you look at the area being surrounded by nothing but sand combined with solid rock pieces weighing many tons each, you marvel at how such a feat could have been pulled off at all. To this day, it remains somewhat of a mystery. We know that a lot of slave labor was involved and that much of the rock came from a different area of the country. But the mechanics of transport and assembly boggles the mind. Even though the job may have been difficult, the power of working together in unity can cause man to accomplish so much. When the tower of Babel was being built, God decided to put a stop to it because their efforts were to build a name for themselves rather than to glorify God. The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other." If man can accomplish so much without God, then just imagine what can be done to the glory of God. The construction of a pyramid highlights what working together can do. It also highlights what happens when one part of the body does not do its job. It makes everyone else's job harder. But when we are all working together in unity everyone's job becomes so much easier! Even when the plans do not come out as you had envisioned, the value is often found more in the work itself than the finished project. I have found even in studying the scriptures, that the answers to my questions after they had been found were not nearly as significant as what God taught me along the journey in finding them. Let's remember to always work together. "How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!" - Psalm 133:1

Have a Great Week !!!

As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him-- you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

- I Peter 2:4-5

Triple Blessings

Wayne & Rebecca Brooks announce the births of their triplets on March 15. They had a daughter, Kalli, and two sons, Kiel and Kayne. All are healthy and are doing well. Our new arrivals are the grandchildren of Walter & Judy Brooks and the great grandchildren of Howard Rude Sr.

Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.

- Psalms 127:3-5

Christian Education is a Must

One of the roughest periods of development in our kids' faith is the time between high school and the "real world". This is the time when we pray they discover a faith that is really their own. They will be challenged during these years, perhaps more than any other time in their lives. It is an especially fearful time for parents. They are on their own. They must make most of their own decisions. Will their faith be strong enough? Will they be true to their Lord?

Of all the options available to them, one of the safest is a Christian campus. Some of the universities associated with the churches of Christ include Cascade, Oklahoma Christian, Abilene Christian, Harding, Pepperdine, York, among others. Any of these environments will place a hedge of some spiritual protection around our kids.

It is a blessing to have Cascade Christian College in the northwest. As it grows and develops, funding is needed to make the improvements possible.

Each year hundreds of individuals and families participate in the "Mandate for Ministry" church collection for Cascade College. If the school is able to raise another $30,000 a generous couple in the Portland area has offered to give an additional $50,000 for scholarships to assist Christian students.

We wanted Christians here to have the opportunity to be a part of this worthwhile cause. Our involvement in the lives, and futures of young people

is an investment that will yield eternal dividends. If you would like to make a contribution to help them reach their $30,000 goal, you may do so at the church office. Be sure to keep the work at Cascade in your prayers.

He Speaks A Language You Can Understand

Amado, no imites lo malo, sino lo bueno.

III Juan 11

Seven students (first-third) are learning basic Spanish words and phrases each Wednesday after school. Also, the Kindergarten - second Bible class are learning a few songs in Spanish. The verse above is for this week and is translated: Beloved , do not imitate evil, instead imitate good. The children are excited to learn another language . . They are excited to LEARN!

The children are learning many things in many ways... Seeing God's word, language, in action does impact their lives. This is a universal language. A powerful language! A language the children will imitate. A language the children know.

Learning a new language can be challenging, yet the real challenge is living God's language . . Este es vida!

(This is life!) What language do you speak?
