November 26th, 2000 Short By Stuff Dave Shaner The missions meeting last week with Roger and Martha Dickson is now history. They delivered some excellent lessons on how we can share the gospel whether it be in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho or Capetown, South Africa. If you missed it, you can still get copies of the lessons on audio or video tape. If you would like a copy of these, please check with the office staff or Rob Mullaly. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Kathy Morse, Kathy Shaner, Carol Schild, and Teri DuPey for their wonderful decorations. Thank you as well to all who helped by providing meals for the Dickson's while they were here and for those who provided food for the fingerfood fellowship. Be sure to let Ivan & Sally Archer know how much they are appreciated. Together they have helped various missionaries throughout the world and worked with Roger and Martha earlier this year in South Africa. Ivan directs the Missions activities which are under the WIN ministry. Many times, it is easy to dismiss missions as a job for somebody else to do. We tend to think, "Why should I give my attention to someplace else as long as Coeur d'Alene is not won for Christ?" We do need to concentrate on our local mission. But we also, need to support men and women who are willing to go to another area to spread the gospel. If we can not go and do the work ourselves, we need to support those who do. Many scriptures show how the help the apostle Paul received from other churches enabled him to go to other areas. The churches in Antioch, Philippi, Thessalonica, and Corinth are some examples of churches that gave to missions. They did this while still seeking to evangelize their local area. In fact, John says, that our workers should not expect to receive help from the pagan world, but that it is the responsibility of the church to support such men - III John 5-8. Keep the Dicksons, the Reeves in Togo, the Crumps in Nigeria, the Sisemores in Russia in your prayers as they labor in foreign missions. We also support Rick & Cathy Dukes and Jim & Diane Rude in the states. Be sure to include them in your prayers as well. We have included mission reports from each of these missionaries in the past few weeks. Next week, we will have a report from Bonners Ferry. Have

Mike's Memos "COME BEFORE WINTER" FEEDBACK This year was our 5th annual retreat which we call "Come Before Winter". It is based on the imprisoned apostle Paul's need for his "son in the gospel" Timothy to visit him before winter began. Every year it seems to be the spiritual highlight of all our activities. We always have fun at a retreat, but this weekend has deep spiritual focus. It is a challenging, growing experience for every teen and adult who attends. We had 33 who participated this year including four visitors. Our theme was "Broken Bread", and we studied that difficult scriptural subject, and made many applications. Garret Jaynes & Clarissa White, Kurt Shaner & Mallory Jaynes, James Dupey & Lindi Bonthius were our teaching teams. They did a great job leading us in classes titled "The Breadless Dead", "Broken Dough? / Broken Bread!" and "Am I Kneaded?" Many others shared in leading the discussions at our tables. Saturday night we spent two hours sharing our struggles, our sins, and our needs, and praying for God's help with those things. Then, after a short break, we spent another two hours sharing our love for one another. It was a beautiful time of breaking the bread of fellowship. I could go on and on. It was truly a wonderful time of learning about, learning to share, and learning to be the Broken Bread.
WORLD BIBLE SCHOOL One of our most effective mission efforts is correspondence teaching through World Bible School led here by Ron & Marjorie Dupey, and assisted by many in this congregation. It will continue to grow if we can keep up with the student lessons. There are lots of lessons waiting to be corrected, and many students waiting to receive their first lesson. If you can help, please come to the building on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 9:30 am. Your help will be appreciated.
CCS Corner Thank you to the many parent volunteers, under the organization of Patti Welter, our PVO President, who prepared a wonderful Thanksgiving feast for our school on Tuesday! For chapel, each class presented a song, a poem, or a skit relating to thankfulness. TO SERVE December 3rd, 2000
