"Have you been born again?"  Not too many years ago, this was a popular expression among evangelicals.  It is still sometimes heard.  The phrase was seen as something different than a part of being a Christian.  In other words, people who regarded themselves as "saved" were all of a sudden being "born again."   Some equated this with developing a deeper interest in the things of God, thus renewed commitment.  Others regarded it as the way to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit.  Still others, see it as the only way to become a real Christian.  Regardless of how it has been used, it is a biblical expression.  Jesus, said, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." - John 3:3.  He contrasts this with a physical birth.  There are many similarities, but in essence what he is talking about is a spiritual birth.  He goes on later in the same chapter to discuss how some things are difficult to explain, such as the nature of the wind.  But the wind is real.  You know it by its effects.  The new birth is just as real.  How do you know when one is born again?  The concept is real and important. In fact, a new birth into the kingdom of God is a necessity.  Be sure to come  and bring your friends this Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the church building as we explore this topic in-depth.

There is also a great Ladies class on Becoming Women of Prayer that meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.  Not only  does this class teach what the bible says on the subject. but is very practical as considerable time is spend on praying with each other.

If you are not currently a part of a Bible Study Group (BSG), you are missing out on some tremendous blessings in your life.  These are currently meeting on Sunday evenings, Monday evenings, Wednesday mornings, and Thursday evenings.  Pick out one that best suits your schedule.  In these groups, you not only learn the scriptures, but spend a great deal of time in prayer and learning to know one another better.  Often times, it is in smaller groups that we learn the best.  It is also a great way  to serve someone else who is in need.  Be sure to make your participation in one of these groups a priority.

Have a Great Week!!

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

~ Mark 10:45

Ladies Fall Fellowship

This special day is almost upon us! It is happening this Saturday, October 7th, from 8:15 to 3:00. Lunch is included. Be sure to register at the table in the foyer. Our speaker is Helen Young from Pepperdine University. She will be presenting 3 lessons on Saturday and will also teach the ladies class on Sunday morning at 9:00. This year's topic is "Seeking to Be God's Woman".
The final meeting will be held on October 2nd, at 6:00 pm, @ Betty Rude's home. Committee heads please be there, and if you are not involved yet and would like to be, please see Betty. Also, we still need a person to videotape the sessions.  If you are interested, please see Shari Swaim.

Congregational Meeting

There will be a congregational meeting today at 3 p.m.  The purpose of this meeting is for communication.  This would be a good time for you to ask any questions or voice any concerns or suggestions. If you have any suggestions for how the Lord's work with the Dalton congregation can be improved, feel free to express your ideas.  If you have any concerns that you would like to be addressed, these are also welcome.  The shepherds would like to be just that, "shepherds."  Sometimes, it is all too easy to get involved in "stuff" that detracts them from being able to do what God has specifically asked them to do.  The church is like a body.  All of us has a part to do for His church to function properly.  Of course, the head of this body is Jesus Christ.  He has all authority and our direction needs to come from Him.  Be sure to spend time in prayer as each of you seek God's wisdom as we spread the aroma of Christ wherever we go.

God has blessed us in many ways.  We appreciate all you do for the Lord.  It is also easy to be distracted. Let's keep focused as we work together in glorifying God.  May God bless each of you and your family.

Prayer Concerns

Prayers are requested for Mickey, a lady who has come to our soup kitchen a few times. She had been in remission from a previous bout of cancer but several tumors have recently been discovered. She is undergoing chemotherapy.

Prayers are also requested by Tim and Alyssa Frahm for a friend, Raylene, who has breast cancer and starts chemotherapy this week, and for Alyssa's stepmother's mother, Edith McDonnell, who needs surgery but has to have heart problems examined before surgery can be performed.

Betty Fulop's husband, Ed passed away Friday, September 22 in British Columbia.  Betty is a former member of this congregation. Be sure to keep her and her family in your prayers.

Interested in making a child's Christmas dream come true?

The Women's ministry is making boxes to sent to less fortunate children throughout the world. We could use everyone's help. All it takes is a shoe box full of age specific toys, books, hygiene items or school supplies plus a $5.00 check for shipping costs. You can fill a box on your own of bring the supplies and we will put them together for you. Financial support would also be welcome; we will need $5.00 for each box sent. Brochures explaining how to fill a box and suggested items to put in a box are available on the kiosk. All boxes and supplies should be turned in no later than October 25th. If you would like to help or have any questions, please ask Alyssa Frahm.

Of course, a regular daily event should be your personal prayer and Bible reading time. Nothing will take the place of this.

QUESTION Are you involved enough in the spiritual activities listed to demonstrate to God, to yourself, and to your friends that Christ is truly a priority in your life? It is so easy to allow work, recreation, family, sports, stuff, to crowd out the things that are eternally important. Have you done a check-up lately?

ARE YOU ATTENDING BIBLE CLASS?
I think it would be impossible for me to overstress the importance of our attendance and participation in our Bible Classes. Spiritual growth cannot take place unless we feast on the Bread of Life. We all know it takes study and practice to get better at anything, whether it's football, writing, golf, singing, hop-scotch, or Christian living.

We have some excellent classes planned for all age levels, beginning with the little ones in cradle roll all the way up to our senior adults. Our teachers do a great job of teaching, but these classes are all made better by every member's participation. We've seen increases in all of our classes lately, but we'd love to see 100% of this family involved in weekly Bible classes. I know we'd be a better spiritually nourished family, and that would affect every other part of our lives.

What Fourth and Fifth Graders have to say about their relationship with God:

I was born in a Christian family, that is why I know God. I go to a Christian school. I want to get baptized. I read the Bible and pray a lot. I care about my family, and I love God. - Ian Nelson

I pray every night. I will go to heaven. I can't wait to go to heaven. I will see Jesus and God because he created me. I will praise Him forever. - Nick Keough

I love God in many ways for what he has given me. I know he loves me too. I also know he loves my family. We have dedicated our lives to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I am very glad he died on the cross for us. I am also very glad he gave me what I have. He has blessed me with many wonderful blessings. He has also blessed me with going to this school. - Steven Litalien

Sunday, Aug. 27th I got baptized. I love God and God loves me. I want to know God better. I want to love Him forever and He will love me forever. - Alisa Paul

Why I go to church and CCS is because I love God and His word and His son. I'm glad God told people to do things like write the Bible and other things too. He is wonderful, I love Him. He is the best. - Colleen Samsel

When I was five I didn't know anything about God. My Grandma started teaching me right away. Then in first grade I started going to CCS and from then on I learned more and more about God and how he helped me with my parents not being able to live with me. I am very thankful for God. - Stephanie Savage

When I turned ten my Mom told me that I knew more than most boys did because I could tell her Jesus' life, death and resurrection. Now I am thinking about getting baptized because I think I am ready. - Chris Dehlbom

I like praying because I feel close to God. I know when I pray God hears my prayers. God doesn't always answer my prayers the way I want Him to. But I know He still loves me and knows what is best for me. - Samuel Branson

God helps me when I'm lonely, God inspires me to help others. God leads my way. He inspires me to help animals in need of attention or care. - Tyler Ekhoff

God is in my dreams. He is everywhere. God is good in every way. God is my friend. Even though you cannot see Him does not mean He is not there. - Jesse Doolittle

God gives us our answers by people talking to us, or maybe just by some things by action, or just by the way things happen. - Brandi Welter

I have never seen God, but I will get to see Him someday when I go to heaven. - Jayme Annotti
