Stuff    Dave Shaner

The assembly service last week was very encouraging to me. The singing and enthusiasm was wonderful. What had many visitors from other states who let us know what a great group we have here an that they found the time of worship very meaningful. I would add my "Amen" to that. We do have wonderful group of Christians who care a great deal about each other. Let's come every Sunday seeking to build others up and God will see to it that you are built up yourself. As a popular song adapted from St. Francis of Assisi, said many years ago, "It is in giving that we receive; it is in pard'ning that we are pardoned. And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Make me an instrument of your peace. I want to know what it's like to follow you. When men look at me, I want them to see, The light of the world inside." The more you serve others, the more that our God takes care of you. Keep on serving and blessing each other giving God all the praise and glory for all good things.

The Ladies Day Fellowship with Helen Young, of Malibu, California will be this weekend. This is always a great weekend of encouragement. The ladies have been working very hard to ensure its success. I know that your faith will receive a major boost from this. Be sure to register today. See the accompanying article for more details.

We gave out some more "links" for God this past week. In case you missed it, many have chosen to add a link from a chain to their key chains to remind them that they are link on behalf of God to others. I visited a guest to our services the other day. As I was invited in, I noticed that they had their "link" on their chain and the accompanying pamphlet taped to their refrigerator door. If you would like to receive one, check in at the office. We would love to give you one.

We would like to encourage all to come to the congregational meeting next Sunday at 3 pm. You may have a special question or would like to become better informed of the plans that the church has, be sure to be here. The church is a family and this is a part of family business. The more communication we have the better.

Have a Great Week!!

In the
morning, O Lord,
you hear my voice...
I lay my requests
before you and wait
in expectation.

~ Psalm 5:3

ATTENTION LADIES...

As the fall colors and cooler temperatures arrived this week, we were reminded that October will soon be here! Each October also brings us a special opportunity to be encouraged in our faith walk by attending the Ladies' Fall Fellowship. This year's Fellowship (hosted by our family) will be on Saturday, October 7th, from 8:15 am to 3:00 pm.

The theme, "Between Two Worlds", will be shared with us by Helen Young from Pepperdine University. I have not personally met this sister yet; I have heard she speaks with grace, wisdom, and conviction. ... I'm ready!

"Thank you: to the many ladies who have been praying and planning for this day of encouragement since last October. "Please come and bring a friend" to all who want to enjoy God's answers for this occasion.

On behalf of the Women's Ministry,

In Him,

Shari Swaim

Ladies Fall Fellowship

Workday, Wed, Sept 27, 10 am -noon. We will be putting together the program, & other tasks needing done. All who can show up will be appreciated!

Also be sure to register at table in the foyer, and sign up to brings breads and salads at another table. We still need a person to video this year. If you are interested, please see Shari Swaim.

The final meeting will be on October 2, 6:00 pm, @ Betty Rude's home.

congregational meeting

There will be a congregational meeting on Sunday, October 1st, at 3 p.m. This has been changed from the before-announced time in order to make sure that everyone gets adequate word of this meeting. The purpose of this meeting is for communication. This would be a good time for you to ask any questions or voice any concerns or suggestions. The shepherds would like for you to prepare any questions that you may have for them, preferably in advance. Not all questions may be able to be answered directly, as many of the deacons are often in a better position to give specifics, but if you could turn these in early, answers could be available. Please give these to any of the elders or you may turn them in to the office.

If you have any suggestions for how the Lord's work with the Dalton congregation can be improved, feel free to express your ideas. If you have any concerns that you would like to be addressed, these are also welcome. The shepherds would like to be just that, "shepherds." Sometimes, it is all too easy to get involved in "stuff" that detracts them from being able to do what God has specifically asked them to do. The church is like a body. All of us has a part to do for His church to function properly. Of course, the head of this body is Jesus Christ. He has all authority and our direction needs to come from Him. Be sure to spend time in prayer as each of you seek God's wisdom as we spread the aroma of Christ wherever we go.

God has blessed us in many ways. We appreciate all you do for the Lord. It is also easy to be distracted. Let's keep focused as we work together in glorifying God. May God bless each of you and your family.

Mike's Memos

WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?

Someone once said, "Integrity is what you are when no one is looking." It's that inner character that drives you to do what's right simply because it is right and not because of what others think or do.

Consider this thought.....Worship is spiritual integrity. It's a quality of the heart that demands higher priorities and complete consistency. It makes a big difference when we recognize that our worship to God takes place wherever we are, and we will be held accountable for ignoring it - even when no one is looking.

We tend to think of our lives as having several segments. We have a family, a job, recreation, and we have church. These become separate areas that we struggle to keep properly prioritized. We feel good about ourselves when we believe we are giving the proper amount of time to each area, when in reality, that segmenting and our efforts to balance it, only creates stress. Our spiritual integrity remains intact when we live our worship 24-7. It must be integrated with every part of our lives, minute by minute.

Imagine what a difference it could make in our marriages if we always attempted to make our shared relationship the worship to God that it was designed to be. Consider the incredible families we would have if parents and children would remember that our interaction should always glorify and worship God. Think of the difference it would make at work and at play.

If we truly believe that worship is a 24-7 concept, and that it is impossible to be Christ-like any other way, we will stop trying to bind biblical truths in one area, and unbind them in another. If worship is your life, and we determine from the Bible that something cannot be part of worship, then it cannot be in any part of our lives.

Understanding this concept of spiritual integrity would not cause us to think that our times of shared worship are any less important. In fact, they would become even more important and special to us as we bring our "life worship" experiences together to share in combined, powerful worship. What a difference it does make!!!
