Have A Great Day!

Still Short Staffed!

Welcome Guests!

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT LIFE THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED:

1) No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats.
2) When your Mom is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair.
3) If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person.
4) Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato.
5) You can't trust dogs to watch your food.
8) Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair.
9) Puppies still have bad breath, even after eating a tic-tac.
10) Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time.
11) School lunches stick to the wall.
12) You can't hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk.
13) Don't wear polka-dot underwear under white shorts.
14) The best place to be when you're sad is Grandpa's lap.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT LIFE THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED:

1) Raising teenagers is like nailing Jell-O to a tree.
2) There is always a lot to be thankful for, if you take the time to look. For example, I'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt.
3) One reason to smile is that every seven minutes of every day, someone in an aerobics class pulls a hamstring.
4) The best way to keep kids at home is to make a pleasant atmosphere-and let the air out of their tires.
5) Families are like fudge, mostly sweet with a few nuts.
6) Laughing helps. It's like jogging on the inside.
7) Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy.
8) My mind not only wanders; sometimes it leaves completely.
9) If you can remain calm, you just don't have all the facts.

GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT GROWING OLD!

Ladies' Wednesday Class

All ladies are invited, and encouraged to attend a time for fellowship, prayer, and sharing. This time for "Praying In One Accord" will be Wednesday, August 23rd at 6:30 pm in the small auditorium.

The evening will be led by Jean Grow and will be a way for us to be encouraged as well as to encourage each other as sisters in Christ, and to prepare our hearts and minds as we begin our study this fall in Becoming a Woman of Prayer.

Please check your mailboxes today for more information.

"They all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication..." Acts. 1:14

Help Needed

Ron & Marj Dupey need help to move some items to another apartment on August 26th. They also need a pickup. Please call if you can help @ 664-4629.

A Little From Each One....

The building has been steadily receiving a "face lift" these past few weeks. Thanks again to Pat Riggs, Don Rude, and all their crew who have been here most days working away (except for coffee breaks)! You will notice improvements from "top to bottom"! Including a freshly shampooed rug in the large auditorium! New tile in the nursery, thanks Jerry Riggs!

Now we have an opportunity for all of us to each contribute a small portion to help in a big way.....

Imagine this!......Won't it be wonderful when we replace the carpet in the foyer! To make this a "team (family) effort", we would like for as many who can to donate. $25 is suggested, but if you can give more, great...or if you can give less, great too! Make your check out to the church, and mark it "Construction Fund" Won't it be wonderful!.......

Prayers Are Requested

Danny Sims responded last Sunday for prayers that he will relinquish his will and let God take control.

Please pray for Davey Holland, a former CCS student, who was in a boating accident last Sunday and is in intensive care. He is improving, but is still in very serious condition.

Keep Howard Rude Sr. in prayer as he continues his chemotherapy and dealing with the side effects.

Lynelle Dehlbom would like continued prayers for her friend, Lisa Meyer, and her daughter, Samra over the loss of her son, Eyob. Also praise to God for the blessed gift of peace and comfort He has generously given her.

Jeremy Bell who has been visiting with us would like us to pray for Carl Laprath's daughter and granddaughter.

The Reeves family would like continued prayers for the Togo Team as they pack to leave for Africa. Pray especially for a safe trip, for them to find homes quickly, for continued health, especially for the expectant moms and babies, and that God will bless their mission.

Scott Wagnon would like prayers for his uncle who is having open heart surgery.

Mark & Mandy Mood would like prayers for their Aunt Betty who has cancer.

Ken Huseby would like prayer for his wife, Orient, who is at Life Care Center. "May God comfort her and make her life a little more pleasant".

Please continue to pray for Jim Almond to get completely well after being very sick this past week. Praise God he is better!

Please pray for Jack Pierce's uncle, Ray Beilke. He is 85 years old and visiting with Jack and Dee. He fell and received numerous lacerations and bruises. Also include Jack and Dee in your prayers. A dear friend of theirs just passed away. Also, one of their children is being transferred to Texas; so a lot is going on in their lives and they need our prayers.

Keep John Wilhoite in your prayers as he is still struggling with his health. Doctors last week found a tumor in his throat and the prognosis is not good. Keep Betty and the rest of the family in prayer as well.

Weigh Down Workshop

Exodus Out of Egypt

Join us for a free Orientation session and learn about the Weigh Down Workshop - a Christ centered program that teaches us to replace our devotion to the refrigerator with a deeper, more satisfying devotion to God.

Through this 12- week seminar, you will learn how you can be delivered from the slavery of overeating and of dieting. God can change your heart so that you truly have no desire to eat if you are not physically hungry.

The free Orientation will be held:

Tuesday, August 22 at 7:00 PM

here at the building.

Come and discover the program that is changing people's lives as well as their weight. For information, call Joyce Erwin at 683-7001 or Jean Grow at 664-3522.

Mike's Memos

PICTURES........

Photograph albums, scrapbooks, that special box, maybe the trunk in the attic, or magnets on the refrigerator door. We all have some treasured pictures. Pictures that hold precious memories. Pictures that tell wonderful stories. Pictures that share unforgettable messages.

The woman in the photograph on Robert Fulghum's mirror is Mother Teresa. The occasion of the photograph was the acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Norway.

"Each time I look in the mirror at myself," Fulghum writes, "I also look at her face. In it I have seen more than I can tell; and from what I see, I understand more than I can say,"

That is the power of the picture. It speaks to us. It speaks to the core of who we are. Often it communicates more than we can express, speaking to us in a language too deep for words.

"I do not speak her language," Fulghum said. "Yet the eloquence of her life speaks to me. And I am chastised and blessed at the same time. I do not believe one person can do much in the world. Yet, there she stood, in Oslo, affecting the world around. I do not believe in her version of God. But the power of her faith shames me."

The Apostle James wrote that the word of God is a mirror. And when we look into it we should see ourselves in contrast to the beautiful pictures God has painted for us to there. Pictures of a loving Heavenly Father staying the hand of Father Abraham giving his only son as a sacrifice... a test of his faithfulness. Pictures of a penitent David crying out, "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." Pictures of a Samaritan Woman drawing water from Jacob's well for a Jewish Rabbi who taught her about the "Living Water." Pictures of a dying woman reaching out to touch the hem of Jesus' garment. Pictures of a wayward son coming home to a forgiving father.

The power of these pictures should speak to the core of who we are. They should communicate more than words can say....in languages too deep for words. They should both chasten and bless us. And they should cause us to have a faith that changes our part of the world, as we live out the unforgetabe messages in those pictures from God's photograph album.

Guest Article / Who Is?

A person full of charm, cheer, and warm love.

A person who is devoted with endless energy for care and patience.

A person who can sooth a child's cry in the night and calm his fear of a bad dream.

A person who can keep an old house looking new - completely through.

A person who encourages a good deed and discourages a bad one.

A person who has many times over comforted her sick son and given warm milk to sooth his cramped stomach aches.

A person who has put up with her daughter's help in what seemed to them a bothersome and difficult task. A person who has sat up many nights to help a young boy with common math problems.

A person who has had plenty of exercise chasing small mischievous kids fearful of her diabolic stick.

A person who cares enough to have concern and confidence in her family.

A person who loves her husband as much as he loves her.

A person who loves to swim, camp, and enjoy the outdoors.

A person who is sentimental with love filled tears.

A person who deserves a lot of praise and congratulations.

A person who believes in God and his way of life.

A person who loves to live and lives to love.

Of course, this person is___ ____whom I wouldn't trade for anything!
