Mission Workers Reports The Jerry Sisemore family left the states this week to return to their work in Barnaul, Siberia. Jerry reported last year as the best year for their work. He is excited to go back, saying the growth in numbers of the congregation is now overflowing the meeting facility. As Jerry said, "this is a nice kind of problem". The Togo Team will soon be on site. Mike Reeves and family have just returned and will be most happy to tell of the excitement the team has for going from school in France to field work in Togo, Africa. Be sure to include David, Becky, and Hannah in your prayers. Summer time is a busy travel time and we have noticed funds pledged Mission Sunday have been somewhat lower. Just be mindful of the support all our mission workers count on to carry on the preaching and teaching for the Lord's work. Please remember to note "Missions Work" on those pledge checks or special donations to missions.

Prayers Are Requested Clara Ward would appreciate our prayers as she cares for her terminally ill son, Albert. He doesn't want visits, but would welcome prayers that his passing will be gentle. Clara would also like prayers for strength and comfort to see through this difficult time. Kent & Georgette would appreciate prayers for their marriage reconciliation. Robert Mullaly would appreciate prayers for his mother "one of the most spiritual women I know", Margaret Mullaly. She has colon cancer. Tim & Steve Frahm's father, Robert Frahm was in a bicycle/car accident and sustained upper body and head injuries, along with a blood clot on the brain. Please pray for his complete healing. Remember his wife, also during this difficult time. Prayers Continued * Bill Elliot (Jan Almond's brother) * Robert Matheson (Lillian Lane's son) * David Sims * Ken Arnold * All Travelers * Tara LaCelle * family of Eyon Meyer * Wayland Lipscomb & family * Millie Henderson
A Little From Each One.... The building has been steadily receiving a "face lift" these past few weeks. Thanks again to Pat Riggs, Don Rude, and all their crew who have been here most days working away (except for coffee breaks)! You will notice improvements from "top to bottom"! Thank you also for those who showed up yesterday and did so much. Now we have an opportunity for all of us to each contribute a small portion to help in a big way..... Imagine this!......Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could replace the carpet in the foyer all the way up to the auditoriums? We can, if we each one choose to contribute. $25 is suggested, but if you can give more, great...or if you can give less, great too! Make your check out to the church, and mark it "Construction Fund" Can you imagine?.......

Weigh Down Workshop Exodus Out of Egypt Do you feel like a slave to food? Do you fight the diet battle, only to regain the weight soon after? If so, join us for a free Orientation session and learn about The Weigh Down Workshop - a Christ centered program that teaches us to replace our devotion to the refrigerator with a deeper, more satisfying devotion to God. Through this 12- week seminar, you will learn how you can be delivered from the slavery of overeating and of dieting. God can change your heart so that you truly have no desire to eat if you are not physically hungry. The free Orientation will be held: Tuesday, August 22 at 7:00 PM here at the building in the small auditorium. A video lesson is presented each week in class and each participant receives a workbook and a set of 12 audiotapes. Come and discover the program that is changing people's lives as well as their weight. For information, call Joyce Erwin at 683-7001 or Jean Grow at 664-3522.
Mike's Memos SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT -- TEENS Tony Rude's family has planned a special "Back to School" event for us on Saturday evening, August 19th. They will be hosting a Swimming Party and Barbecue in their back yard beginning at 5:30 pm. Boys bring a bag of chips, and girls bring salads. Everything else will be provided. I know this will be lots of fun. Bring a friend. GREAT NEWS Robbie Vanek, a school friend of Zach Shaner and Jessica Bruner, was baptized at Teen Camp II last week!!!! Robbie first came to church with Zach several weeks ago and has been coming regularly since then. He attended Music Camp where he showed interest in Bible study with me and Paul Gorsline(a teen from Valley C of C. Then Paul studied with him and baptized him last week. It is wonderful to see our teens win their friends to Christ. I'M BAAAAACCK! Well it's nice to be home again. The summer has been so busy. Our camps have been great, the Honduras Mission Trip was awesome, and my family's trip to France and Italy to see our kids before they leave for Africa was two weeks' full of wonderful experiences and filled with memories for a lifetime. David, Becky and Hannah are doing fine, and they send their greetings to all of you. The Togo Team is doing its last team retreat with a family counselor from Harding this week at the Harding extension school in Florence. Next week they go back to Albertville to pack up the last things, then to Geneva to ship out for Africa. I was impressed with their French speaking abilities, and their focus on the mission to Togo. They covet your prayers, and we covet your prayers and your continued support for them. It is obvious that God is blessing this effort, and I'm proud that this church is a part of that blessing. Just as a side note, I thought I should share with you that travel in other parts of the world has many challenges. Everything from 2 inch long roaches in San Salvador (ask Chris Rouse), to figuring the routes for riding the Metro under the city of Paris (ask Earlene), to pasta & pizza, pasta & pizza, pasta & pizza in Italy, to too many steps up the Eiffel tower (ask Ashlin) to the strange ways toilets flush in France and Italy (ask Bobbie & Ashlin). You know, you feel kinda foolish having to ask how you flush the stool!! Actually I thought the most unique one was the pull chain in the ceiling at David & Becky's apartment, although there seemed to be a different kind in every bathroom in Europe. We enjoyed our tours of the Louvre, the Notre Dame, La Dome', The Musse' d'Orsee, and many other places in Paris and Florence. But we enjoyed them more because we were able to share that time with David, Becky and Hannah. I think we all feel like we've spent enough time on the trains and planes to last for a while!! Thank you church for allowing us to have this special time for family.
