STUFF   DAVE SHANER

Today is the last day to get your preregistration forms mailed in to Preteen camp (grades 3-6 completed) at Camp Prince's Pine. If you would mail them in by today, there is a $30 discount. We encourage you to preregister so that the camp staff can adequately prepare for incidental items such as FOOD! Although the preregistration deadline has passed for Teen Camp II (grades 7-12 completed), there is still room for you to sign up. Wonderful, lifetime memories are created at Camp Prince's Pine. Many young people make lifetime decisions for Christ when exposed to God's word in a camp setting. Be sure to send in your registration forms today! 5

Be sure to keep Mike, Earlene, Ashlin & Bobbie in your prayers. They will be traveling to France to be with Dave, Becky, and Hannah Reeves before they leave for Togo, Africa on a 10 year mission trip. I will be conducting a revival/gospel meeting with the church in Colville, WA this week. Pray that God will open hearts to be receptive to the teaching of His Word. Following this revival, my family will be traveling to the East coast for a family reunion and vacation. We would also appreciate your prayers as we travel. I am very much appreciative of Mike Reeves, Scott Rouse, and Mike Swaim who will be preaching/teaching in my place while I am gone.

Remember this Wednesday evening is our monthly Barbecue here at the church building. See the accompanying list for what your group is to bring. If you are not a part of any Bible Study Group at this time, simply bring whatever you wish. We always have enough to go around. The soup kitchen faculty normally provides meals on Wednesday evening. The BBQ will be taking its place this week, and we will still have many visitors from our community. Be sure to come early if you can and get to know our guests. The food will be great, but the fellowship will be even greater. We will not be having our regular Bible Studies this Wednesday evening, but we will be having a devotional praising God with singing. Be sure to be here. You will not want to miss it!!

Have a Great Week!!

Answered Prayers

I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth.

1 Corinthians 3:6

We don't always know how our prayers will be answered, do we? I cannot tell you how often I have shared the gospel with someone sitting next to me on a plane and thought: "Their grandparents, mother, father, or wife would be so excited if only they knew how their prayers are being answered right now!"

In Sympathy

The office was made aware on Friday that Alice Mead passed away Wednesday, July 19th at 6:00 pm. Alice was Ethel Drapeau's mother. She had been living with her son John, and daughter-in-law, Delores in Phoenix. Delores is Lavina Dooley's sister. There will be a memorial service on August 6th in Newberg, Oregon. For those who knew Alice, she is remembered as quite a spunky person who dearly loved the Lord and His church. Alice was 93. I am sure Ethel and Shorty would appreciate a card or a call.

Farragut Family Camp

Make your plans now to be a part of our "99th" annual Farragut Family church encampment. The dates are September 1-4. The cost is only $2 per person per night. What a deal! This is a great time to worship together, to eat together, and to play together. It Will be at Thimbleberry Camp Site at Farragut State Park. See Ken Neubauer for details.

Thank You!!

A special thank you and "hats off" goes to all those who helped with Vacation Bible School.

It was a joy to watch all those lil cowpokes have a whoppin good time!

Mike's Memos

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

Thank you so much for sharing in our mission to the people of Honduras. I feel confident that you would be proud of the use of the funds many of you contributed to this mission experience. Don & Betty, ten awesome teenagers and I taught Vacation Bible School at the Barrio Majia congregation, and shared humanitarian relief efforts in several other communities around La Ceiba. We did numerous repairs and projects at three church buildings, built a concrete roof on one home, shared medical supplies, food and toys at orphanages and special schools, and visited and shared in many homes of the very poor.

We felt that God worked through us to make a very positive impact on the lives of many. We began VBS with 170, and ended with 278! It was quite a challenge, with as many as 37 nine & ten year olds in one class, and 45 to 60 in my teenage class each night. Our teenagers and I taught with the help of teenage Honduran translators. It was a wonderful opportunity to impact their lives as well.

In the evenings we held special youth activities for the teenagers of the churches. These were very special times. We learned to sing and pray in two languages. Our feelings were conveyed, even though we couldn't always understand all the words. Body language, smiles and tears are understood by all.

Our lives were changed as we experienced the much different culture of the people of Honduras, and watched Jesus impact their lives and ours. Thank you again for helping us.

In Christian love,

Don & Betty, Mike, James, Clarissa, Jessica, Chris, Jenny, Zach, Randy, Mallory, Nick, and Hillary

To Our Church Family,

Our time spent in Honduras was, in my mind, a life changing experience. We went down ready to teach Christ and his love, and we did that. But, more than anything, we learned. The servant hood and love those people showed was amazing. It taught us that whether you live in a mansion in the United States, or a hut in Honduras, the expectations are the same. In a place where workers make a little over $400 a month, if they are able to find work, they showed us God's love stronger than I had ever seen.

We thank all of you who helped us get there, and I pray our lives will show what we learned.

Thank You!

A much appreciated and heart felt thank you to all the volunteers who are painting, plumbing, and just plain prettying up the place!!! Noted workers around the building recently are Fred Bonney, Jerry Riggs, Pat Riggs, Don Rude, & Duane Rude.

more Honduran comments
Honduras was an amazing experience.

Picking out one thing to highlight is very difficult and inadequate, to say the least. However, since I must pick one thing to sum up Honduras, I must pick the sense of family that I felt the entire week. The church members there call each other "Brother Oscar" and "Brother Augustine," but that is only the beginning. I personally felt a part of the congregation first thing Sunday morning, and the feeling lasted throughout the entire time we spent there. The Christians there are so welcoming that I didn't feel as though I was an outsider even if I didn't speak the same language. The extent of what I felt is difficult to explain in words, and specific examples are too numerous to detail. It was wonderful to realize that we truly do have brothers and sisters all over the world.

Ride The Hiawatha Trail

There is a mountain bike ride of the Hiawatha Trail scheduled for Saturday, August 5th. A helmet for your head, and a light for your bike are mandatory. (Flashlight with duct tape works well.) The cost is $6 per person. It is a beautiful ride which takes you through tunnels and over trestles. If you are interested in going, see either Scott Rouse or Jordan Keough.

A Moment Of Humor

"A joyful heart makes a cheerful face"
Proverbs 15:13

A farmer was helping one of his cows give birth when he noticed his four-year-old son standing at the fence with wide eyes, taking in the whole event. The man thought to himself, "Great, he's four years old and I'm gonna have to start explaining the birds and bees now. No need to jump the gun. I guess I'll let him ask and then I'll answer." After everything was over, the man walked over to his son and said, "Well son, do you have any questions?"

"Just one," gasped the wide-eyed lad. "How fast was that calf going when he hit that cow?"
