June 25th, 2000 SHORT By STUFF DAVE SHANER When you read of the early church, the disciples "devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." - Acts 2:42. Fellowship is a word that means to share and commune with one another. It signifies a common partnership. Primarily, in the scriptures it speaks of our partnership with God and each other. The Lord speaks of our common joint participation even in salvation when he says, "As God's fellow workers we urge you not to receive God's grace in vain." - II Corinthians 6:1. The apostle, Paul, says in Romans 8 that we are co-heirs with Christ. The early church would often meet daily, they met for special prayer times, encouraged their brothers and sisters by sharing their material possessions and, in many cases, gave their physical lives for each other. Why were they so passionate about their fellowship? They recognized that they were the children of God. As such they were brothers and sisters in the same family. Is it possible for the Dalton Gardens church to have the same kind of fellowship today? We may have to make some changes to deepen our relationships. What do you have to do personally? It may involve several things. It starts with our relationship with God. We are involved in a vertical relationship with Him that creates a horizontal relationship with each other. And as we deepen our relationships with each other, we come to know God as well. The apostle, John, says, "For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen." Some of us will have to change our schedules such that our time involves each other more. Some will have to turn off the TV. Some will have to open our homes to each other more than we have. All of us will have to love each another deeply from the heart. "Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart." - I Peter 1:22. Love covers a multitude of sins and is what keeps our fellowship together. Look for someone to love today. Have a Great Week!!
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." John

Prayers Are Requested Jill Rude responded last Sunday asking for prayers for strength to come back and strengthen her walk with the Lord. Jill has been away from fellowship for two years, and has been struggling in her marriage. She would like for us to keep her and her family in prayer as she seeks God's will in everything she thinks and does. From Betty Wilhoite: Thank you for all your prayers for John. Please continue to remember us. From Mike Reeves: Please pray for the Honduran Mission Team, and the Mission Team to Togo, Africa. From Hillary Pietlicki: Please keep our Honduras group in prayer as the time quickly approaches us. Pray that we get everything done and also that we can bring the love of God to the people as God would want us to. From Earlene Reeves: Please keep the Togo Mission Team in your prayers. Pray that their language skills will continue to grow, and especially pray for the "4" expectant moms that their health will remain good. All these and more create a list of things any of us can have addictions to. In fact all of us, if we are bluntly honest, have some person or thing that causes an addiction or codependency for us. The question is, are we willing to face it and truly surrender to God's power and will? If you want to find out what God says about these things in our lives and help each other grow, come join us on Thursday evenings, at the Morse's house. We will be using the Serenity Bible to help guide us through God's Word. Everyone is welcome. We start at 6:30 with a Pot Luck meal, and then begin study at 7:30. For more info contact Greg & Kathy Morse or Monica Keough. Vacation Bible School Have

CCS Corner The Coeur d'Alene Christian School will have it's fireworks booth again this year. The dates it will be open is June 24th through July 4th from 10:00 am-9:00 pm. The location will be the same as in the past, at the corner of Dakota and Government Way, next to the Sand Trap Restaurant, in Hayden. Please remember to support the school by purchasing your fireworks from them. Also, tell your friends and neighbors about the location, as many people look to support organizations who are doing a good work, when they purchase their fireworks. If you have any questions, or would like to help, contact Steve Jaynes.
