May 21st, 2000 SHORT By STUFF DAVE SHANER The purpose of the Lord's church is to encourage all to develop a closer walk with God. All those who are saved are members of God's church. In fact, a definition of the church is simply those who make up the family of God. We would like to encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity to develop your own personal faith with God and to encourage others by developing more loving relationships with your brothers and sisters in Christ. Make it your goal to be present at every worship assembly, Bible class, or service opportunity that you can. A healthy body is the result of two things: proper diet and proper exercise. Likewise, a healthy spiritual body is one that has a good balance of spiritual food and service. We offer traditional Bible classes for all ages twice a week. These meet on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. We would like to also encourage you to be a part of a Bible Study Group (BSG). Most of these meet on Sunday evenings, but several meet at other times throughout the week. There is always at least one group that meets at the building on Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m. The Sunday groups have the flexibility of meeting earlier in the afternoon for special outings in the summer. It may also free up Sunday evenings for those who prefer more family oriented times. There are a variety of needs that these groups meet. They offer a time to pray, to share your struggles, to delve deeper in to the word of God in a smaller setting, to provide an opportunity to meet benevolent needs, and a way of developing close Christian friendships. These groups will meet many of your spiritual needs that a larger group simply can not provide. Especially if you are a newer Christian, do not neglect the chance to be involved in one of these groups. There are also many opportunities to serve others and develop your spiritual muscles. When we put our faith into practice, we grow the most. You may wish to be a part of our outreach team visiting those in spiritual need and/or studying the scriptures with them. You may wish to work with young people. You may wish to work in the Soup Kitchen. Numerous teaching opportunities abound from conducting home studies to teaching Bible classes at the building. There are numerous opportunities to serves both Christians and non-Christians. Don't be content to simply fill a pew. I pray that you will be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing in Christ - Philemon 6. "When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus." Acts 4:13 Family Camp ~ This Weekend! Come join us for the 18th Annual Family Camp at Camp Prince's Pine ~ This weekend, May 26-29 "Family Ties" Registration forms and schedules are at the kiosk.
Missing a Bowl?? Please take note of this message. There is a variety of dishes left in the kitchen from past pot lucks, youth events, etc. They need to be removed as we need more cupboard space for events like Soup Kitchen, pot lucks, & youth activities etc. Please check on the table in the foyer. Any leftover dishes will be donated to a worthy cause this next week. They will be gone by next Sunday. Thanks!
Installation Date Changed Elder/Deacon Selection The final list for our new leaders, both elders and deacons has been selected. We would like to ask you to pray over these for God's will to be accomplished in this selection. The installation date has been extended to June 4th. If anyone has any concerns about any particular recommendation, we would encourage you to talk to that person about your concerns. If there are any further concerns that merit further consideration, be sure to let the current elders know in writing before June 4th. The scriptures give very little detail over how this process was accomplished. We do know that the congregation was involved in the selection process (Acts 6:3) and that the evangelist was told to be very careful in the appointment of leaders, lest he also incur their sins (I Timothy 5:22). Various scriptures are intended to be a guideline for us to use to qualify men for these important jobs as well as using common sense in applying these scriptures. One example of common sense is, does that person have the time and will he devote the time to this responsibility? Overall, whether the selection is for shepherds or deacons, we wish to place men who are full of the Holy Spirit, wisdom, and faith. Therefore, pending further discussion, the formal appointment of our new leaders will be Sunday, June 4th, at 9:00 a.m.

Mike's Memos Neat Things Happening for the Teens As a church family you are so supportive and thoughtful toward the youth ministry. It is many times a challenge to try to keep up with it and everything else that needs attention, but your encouragement makes it all worthwhile. Some of your encouragement comes in the form of neat things you plan for the Youth Group. Next Friday evening Warren & Lynn Brown, with the help of several others, will host our annual Senior High Formal Night at their house. It will be a wonderful seven course meal served in the warm glow of candlelight in a formal setting. I thank you for that very special evening. This year our Senior Saints have planned a banquet in honor of all the Youth Group and their leaders. Good food, entertainment and a speaker are scheduled for the evening of June 3rd. All our teens will be honored, and receiving special honor will be the incoming 7th grade students. This will be their official induction into the youth group. They include: Paul Banducci, Ben Chichenoff, Connor Morris, Jordan Keough, Katie Neubauer, Austin Shaner, and Laura Utter. As our Keenagers serve our Teenagers, we will be drawn closer together as a family. We appreciate this special activity planned for us. Honduras Mission - A Box for Supplies Please take note in the lobby of the box, and the list of items we can help supply for the Teen's mission trip to Honduras. Opal Wilson was the first to bring her gift. Thanks Opal. Let's fill that box several times before the departure date of July 7th, and be praying for our mission team members: Clarissa White, Mallory Jaynes, Jessica Bruner, Hillary Pietlicki, Jenny Dupey, Randy Rice, James Dupey, Zach Shaner, Nick Swartz, Chris Rouse, and Mike Reeves. Two more teens and seven adults will also be going from Russellville, Arkansas. This week's Servant Appreciation Award goes to George Wuest, Greg Morse and Austin Morse for cleaning out the left over LTC garage sale items and other accumulated stuff from the storage part of the Bus Barn. Thanks men! Special Need Our Bible hour program is really growing. We're now having about 40 children in the small auditorium every Sunday morning. Debbie Yanzick is doing an awesome job of organizing this program, and is truly appreciated along with those who help. She really needs parents of the children, and others of us as well, to help teach these little ones...only for one month periods. Give her a shocking experience. Go to her or call her and volunteer to do your part. Surely all would be willing to take a turn and relieve Debbie and other helpers who are having to stay on a continuing basis. Thanks Bible Hour Team for doing such a wonderful job.
CCS Corner Little Things Mean A Lot Do you tend to be impressed by "bigness"? Do you measure something's significance by whether it's bigger than anything else? Have you noticed the impact of little things, like the usefulness of a pin or the danger of a "little" bit of electricity? Coeur d'Alene Christian is a "little" school that has a great impact. We are a refuge for children and parents in need. We are a foundation that reinforces the teachings in the home about the "value" of Christ in our lives. We are a training ground for dedication, integrity, courage, and patriotism. We are a resource for parents on a myriad of "how to" situations. We strive daily to have answers to the many questions and problems that might surface in the lives of a student or parent. Our daily, morning prayer meetings have been instrumental in helping us deal with this and keeping us on focus. We have been blessed in many ways from the input and support we often receive from everyone! We have a new focus and a great vision for the future of CCS. We ask that you continue to be involved, and encourage us as we strive to "help" bring those many parents and students to Christ. - Thank you church!
Play Ball! Double Header!! The next men's softball games will be in the form of a "double header" this Thursday, May 25th. The first game begins at 6:00 pm, followed by the second game at 7:15. Everyone is welcome to come cheer the team on.
