SHORT By

STAFFED MONICA

Since Dave and Mike have both "flown the coop" this week, to honor (or punish?) them, here are a few jokes dedicated to them & their ministries.........

Subject: Cute Religious Jokes

A little girl became restless as the preacher's sermon dragged on and on. Finally, she leaned over to her mother and whispered, "Mommy, if we give him the money now, will he let us go?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A boy was watching his father, a preacher, write a sermon. "How do you know what to say?" he asked. "Why, God tells me." "Oh, then why do you keep crossing things out?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A father took his 5-year-old son to several baseball games where The Star-Spangled Banner was sung before the start of each game. Then the father and son attended a church on a Sunday shortly before Independence Day. The congregation sang The Star-Spangled Banner, and after everyone sat down, the little boy suddenly yelled out, "PLAY BALL!!!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A 6-year-old was overheard reciting the Lord's Prayer at a church service: "And forgive us our trash passes as we forgive those who passed trash against us."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a church service on Sunday Morning, a young boy suddenly announced to his mother, "Mom, I've decided to become a minister when I grow up." "That's okay with us, but what made you decide that?" "Well," said the little boy, "I have to go to church on Sunday anyway, and I figure it will be more fun to stand up and yell than to sit and listen."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A Sunday School teacher challenged her children to take some time on Sunday afternoon to write a letter to God. They were to bring their letter back the following Sunday. One little boy wrote, "Dear God, We had a good time at church today. Wish you could have been there."
Have a Great Week & See Ya Soon!!
"Don't be afraid, for I am with you.  Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you.  I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."
Isaiah 41:10
From Dan & Teri DuPey: Pray for our young people in their earnest efforts in raising money for Honduras. Also, keep our Christian school in your prayers as we plan our new year & finish this year.
As of this writing, Fred Bonney is still hospitalized and waiting results of a bone scan to hopefully determine where all his pain is coming from. Keep him in prayer.
There is a sign up sheet at the kiosk for ordering the book Becoming a Woman of Prayer, by Cynthia Heald. We will be using this book for a study on prayer Wednesday evenings. The cost of the book will be approximately $5.00. (If you aren't able to take the class, this book is an excellent source for a personal study.)
Thought For The Day
Once we commit our lives to the Lord and give
him permission to come in and take over;
He puts us in places where we have to grow
to survive......and to realize our potential.
Susan Baker
Guest Article
Some time ago, a few ladies met in a certain city to read the scriptures, and make them the subject of conversation. While reading the third chapter of Malachi they came upon a remarkable expression in the third verse:
"And He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." One lady's opinion was that is was intended to convey the view of the sanctifying influence of the grace of Christ. Then she proposed to visit a silversmith and report to them.
What he said on the subject. She went accordingly and without telling the object of her errand, begged to know the process of refining silver, which he fully described to her. "But Sir" she said, "Do you sit while the work of refining is going on?" "Oh, yes madam," replied the silversmith; "I must sit with my eye steadily fixed on the furnace, for if the time necessary for refining be exceeded in the slightest degree, the silver will be injured."
The lady at once saw the beauty, and comfort too, of the expression, "He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver." Christ sees it needful to put His children into a furnace; His eye is steadily intent on the work of purifying, and His wisdom and love are both engaged in the best manner for them. Their trials do not come at random; "the very hairs of your head are all numbered."
As the lady was leaving the shop, the silversmith called her back, and said he had forgotten to mention that the only way that he knows when the process of purifying is complete is when he sees his own image reflected in the silver. Author Unknown
Riddle For The Day
Here's a riddle that may make you think......
* What is more powerful than God.
* More evil than the Devil.
* The poor have it.
* The rich need it.
* If you eat it you will die.
** Believe it or not, 70% of elementary school children quizzed solved the riddle, and only 17% of college age people figured it out.
*** Good luck. Don't look at the bottom of this page, unless you give up and want the answer......
We have once again planned everything from our church BBQ's the last Wednesdays of June, July, & August to our Family Camp at Thimbleberry Campground on Labor Day Weekend. Also, there limits to the camps this year for your children at Prince's Pines, so plan to get those registrations in soon to assure a spot for your children.
How Do You End Your Work Day?
I hired a carpenter to help me restore an old farmhouse. After he had just finished a rough first day on the job, a flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw quit, and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start. While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. Upon arriving, he invited me in to meet his family.
As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching tips of the branches with both hands. When opening the door, he underwent an amazing transformation. His tanned face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.
Afterwards he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.
"Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied. "I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning I pick them up again. Funny thing is," he smiled, "When I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before." Author unknown
