March 12th, 2000 SHORT By STUFF DAVE SHANER We appreciate the special presentation last Wednesday evening by Ivan Archer that gave us an overview of the Lord's work in South Africa. Ivan and Sally worked there for about 2 months grading courses connected to the preaching school, and ministering to the saints in the local area. Every church has to find it's niche in the culture that it is found and you find that church is often done differently in other parts of the world. The message and principles stay the same, but some of the mechanics are different. I Chronicles 12:32 speaks of the men of Issachar as men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do...It takes special people to lead foreign works. It involves meeting people where they are and guiding them to the cross. Be sure to keep in mind all of our various missionaries throughout the world - Dave & Becky Reeves, currently in France and bound for Togo, Africa, Jerry & Pam Sizemore in Barnaul, Siberia, Jim & Diane Rude in Astoria, Oregon, and Rick & Cathy Dukes in Bonners Ferry. Also keep the work in Honduras in your prayers as several from this congregation will be going to conduct a Vacation Bible School there in June. Many of you are also helping to support financially and with your prayers other missionaries throughout the world and several are teaching World Bible School Courses. Whatever you do for the cause of Christ will have its reward. Next week, we will be having our youth rally here. The teenagers will be conducting the entire service. They have some special messages and songs prepared for us. They have been working on this continually for many weeks. We will be having a lot of guests from out of town. It will be a special day. In two weeks, you will be asked to turn in a list of names of those whom you would like to serve as our elders and deacons for the next 2 years. We will be having some lessons to help you discern the Lord's will in the selection of these men. Please give these very prayerful consideration. You will be able to turn in your completed forms to either Helen Rouse, Warren Brown, Lynn Brown, Pat Irmer, or Wayland Lipscomb. They will take those names and turn in a list of them to our elders who will meet with the suggested men as to their desirability and availability. A final list will be presented for your approval as soon after that as possible. We would like to have our new leaders installed as such around the first of May. More information will be given to you in regards to this over the next few weeks. Have a Great Week!! "To the elders
among you, I appeal as a fellow elder.....Be shepherds of God's flock that
is under your care, serving as overseers-not because you must, but because
you are willing as God wants you to be...and when the Chief Shepherd appears,
you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away." from I
Peter 5
Only one week away! We are so thankful to all who have volunteered to house our guests for the weekend. We know it is difficult at times, and requires expense and extra effort on your part. We now have places for about 125 of the 150 expected. We need just a little more help. Contact Linda Bruner or Monica Keough. As our teens are getting all the plans and pieces of our youth rally together, they are being forced to ask themselves again and again, "Will I Pay The Price...Or Sell Out?" With them as with all of us, some days we pay, some days we sell. Often we willingly serve, sometimes we don't. Sometimes we want to serve and can not. God knows our hearts, and the dimensions of our love for him, just as Jesus knew the dimension of Peter's love when he asked him three times, "Peter, do you love me?"He then told Peter how he could show his love. We cannot fool God by pretending to love him when our actions prove otherwise. I appreciate our teens' choice of a youth rally theme that challenges me to evaluate my faith and my love for God daily. Amen?

Mike's Memos MIQVAH 2000 MARCH 17 - 19 A Weekend Preview
THEME: "Will You Pay The Price....
Scripture is replete with examples of God's people being called upon to prove their love and faithfulness to a loving Father who has provided us with everything we need, and then showered us with blessings beyond our need. From Adam & Eve to Abraham to Annanias & Sapphira to the Apostles Peter and John, men and women have always been given challenges in life....opportunities to show by their actions that they are willing to give themselves completely to the God who gave them life. Some have succeeded; others have failed miserably. How could I possibly think that the same wonderful God would no longer care, or notice, or that he would expect less of his people in this 21st century of His timelessness? During our MIQVAH weekend we will be repeatedly challenged to "count the cost of discipleship", and to ask ourselves....have I been paying the price? Am I willing to pay the price? Or do I "sell out" on the Christ who paid the ultimate price for me? Our lessons will come from the scripture accounts of Job, Abraham, Lot's wife, Peter, Annanias & Sapphira, Paul, and Stephen.....people whose stories of devotion, or of unfaithfulness God told for our edification. These Biblical accounts will be presented in characterizations / readings / monologues by our teens, then they will lead small discussion / application groups on these scriptures. Worship and devotional times will focus on commitment and the cost of discipleship as we draw near to God in songs, prayers, scripture and sharing. Please pray God's blessing on our teens as they work, and on all who participate in MIQVAH 2000.

C.C.S. Corner We're learning about bats, all different kinds of bats. At the science fair the class will be doing projects about bats: art and writing and true or false questions about bats. The stuff we're learning about is different kinds of bats. The ones we're learning about are fruit bats, and more. We are going to tell you some of the names of bats. Flying Fox is the biggest bat in the world, the Bumble Bee Bat is the smallest bat in the world. The Spotted Bat and Silver Haired Bat are the rarest bats in Idaho. We are doing a science project about the different kinds of bats. By Andrew Hartofilax
