STUFF DAVE SHANER
The Coeur d'Alene Christian School has just celebrated their twentieth year of service to the community. All true knowledge comes from God. Even secular educators, who do not know this, still receive their knowledge from the Creator. To remove God from the educational process distorts the entire picture. CCS gives a great education and shows how faith in God is relevant to a person's life. CCS needs to be viewed as a tool which God makes available to you in the training of your children. The ultimate responsibility to teach children is in the parent's hands. Many parents do not take this on, but simply leave it in the hands of the state. Public schools likewise, render a valuable service, but there still needs to be tools in parent's hands to aid them is the overall development of their children. Character is not taught in most schools. It is taught and modeled in the home. CCS can help you because it reinforces biblical principles. Their students always perform very well when they go to a public school. Congratulations goes to them for the many years that they have been able to serve the church and our community.
Jim Rude, Henry Acosta, and myself will be leaving for Russia November 1st. We finally cleared our last hurdle in obtaining our visas. The Russian consulate denied our request many times. No matter what we provided for them, they always wanted something more. They required that we stay in a local hotel in Barnaul, Siberia and not in the Sizemore's home! They, apparently, want to keep tabs on us. They explained that visitors simply do not go to Barnaul without needing to be checked out with more scrutiny. We hope to raise a lot of eyebrows with the gospel of Jesus. Be sure to keep us in your prayers. Also, we would appreciate you keeping our families in your prayers while we are gone. I will keep in touch by e-mail. In case of any emergency, both Kathy and the church office can get a hold of us. The Sizemore's (missionaries in Siberia whom we are helping) are doing a great work. We will be able to report on the entire work at our Mission's Day on November 21st.
A lot of changes have taken place in regard to our assembly and teaching schedule. This is in response to your suggestions and a great leader's retreat that we experienced last week. Even if you are not a regular participant, you do not want to miss next Sunday evening, November 7th. A very special revival will take place that evening. Keep this time of commitment in your prayers.
"Here, Oh Israel; the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children." Deuteronomy 6:4-7a
Take Note! Next Sunday!!Starting next Sunday morning, November 7th, there will be a Sunday morning schedule change. Instead of two worship assemblies, there will be one assembly at 10:15 am. Bible classes will start at 9:00 am. We would also like to encourage you to come to a fellowship hour from 8:00-9:00 am. This will give us more opportunity to visit with each other. This will be our winter service schedule and will be reevaluated in the spring.
Next Sunday evening we would like to encourage everyone to come to a special service beginning at 5:30 pm. This will be a time of sharing, rejuvenating, and reevaluating our commitment to the Lord and to the church. All evening classes and LTC will be included in this service.

"Becoming a Mission Minded Church"
TONIGHT! plan for a special preliminary session to our Missions Weekend. We will be seeing a video of long time African missionary, Monte Cox entitled "Son of a Foreigner". Having been born in Africa, Monte's insights and personal stories are inspiring. Monte is guiding David & Becky Reeves and the Togo team in their preparations for the mission field. David Reeves will be speaking and introducing the video on that evening. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to get to know David, Becky, & HANNAH better as we share fellowship and refreshments in the kitchen. (compliments of Pat Riggs!)
Attention Ladies!
All ladies of the congregation here are invited to come together Sunday afternoon, November 7th, at 4 pm, at the building. It will be a time of sharing, caring and praying with our sisters. Please plan to come and be a part of the encouragement, strengthening and healing within God's family here at Dalton Gardens. Your presence and prayers are needed. See you there. KOINONIA -AUTHENTIC FELLOWSHIP
We are learning what it takes to follow Christ, to be his disciples. It's a slow process, and sometimes painful....as it was for Jesus' apostles. And they didn't get it all right the first time either. Can we be patient enough with one another and love one another enough to develop authentic fellowship?
Every healthy, growing church contains babies as well as grandparents.... new Christians with small, still weak faith, and mature Christians with faith grown strong over many years of study and experience. And there are all the stages in between. Every one of us needs to be striving to grow toward maturity. One of the more difficult problems to deal with in a body of Christians is those who "by this time ought to be teachers"...but..... "who need milk, not solid food..."
(Heb. 5:12) ...those who believe that if they arrive on Sunday morning in time to hear the sermon, they have met their weekly Christian requirement. They showed up, the preacher showed uo, God showed up - and everyone went home happy. This will never develop a mature Christian, nor lend any maturity to a church. People who practice this kind of Christianity fail to understand the nature of the church and the nature of the faith they profess.
When you become a part of God's family, you inherit a whole houseful of brothers and sisters. Some are more easily loved than others. The answer to problems and challenges in the body of Christ is not to turn your back on Christ or his family when difficulties arise.... God's answer is koinonia -- biblically based, authentic fellowship. This is the "one another", relational aspect of discipleship. It is not a small thing in God's mind, but an absolute necessity. His Son, Jesus, died to make it so. It is hard work, and takes time and unwavering commitment, but God's richest blessings are in store for those who try to give their very best to fellowship in God's awesome family - his church.

Thank You, Lord, for 20 years of Harvest
In the darkness of a winter night, a seven year old boy sobbed in his pillow. But the pillow was not enough to thwart the miraculous hearing of a mother.
She and the boy's father came to his bedside, "What's the matter, son?" they whispered.
"This!" he sobbed as he pulled a small notebook from under his pillow. "I hear these words everyday on the school bus."
His father opened the notebook's first few tiny pages to find an impressive, disturbing list of curse words. As he showed the list to the mother, the young boy shared his heart in one continuous sentence.
"I was just hearing bad words everyday, but now I'm thinking them and you know what comes next; next I'll be saying them and I don't want to say them. God doesn't want me to say them, and you wouldn't like it if I said them."
Little did the child know how the Lord had touched his parents through his innocent sermon on James 1: 14-15, and little did the parents know this was only the first of a series of things God would use to convict them of the need for Christian schools.
The "child" is now 28 years old and God still uses him to touch his mother and father's hearts.
"As a fourth grader, I had no idea that the school's inaugural year was to be the first of many. I didn't much care; just getting to fifth grade is an eternity when you're ten. Now that almost twenty more grades have come and gone, I cannot help but be impressed at the school's longevity and success.
Must twenty years pass before you can describe something as solid or influential? It is a credit to the parents, teachers, and supporters who have seen what a gem they have; a school that educates with one hand and edifies with the other. The school is timeless because its work is timeless. Few things are more important than to give kids a chance to see and experience God in other people."
