STUFF   DAVE SHANER

Our Bible Study Groups this week will be meeting at the building for a potluck and devotional time. Our special guests this week will be the parents of the Coeur d'Alene Christian School. CCS is being used by God on several fronts. Of course, it provides a quality education for our own young people in a Christian atmosphere. It also can/is being used as an outreach into the community. Many families have strong beliefs in God and what a Christian education can do for their child, but are not currently linked to any particular church. We feel that we have the greatest message in the world that needs to be shared. The plea to be just a Christian without denominational ties is very appealing if presented properly. It is one thing to say we are undenominational, and quite another to act that way. We must befriend our neighbors, friends, and friends of CCS so that the message can be received. This is a great opportunity for you to get to know some great people and their children. Be sure to be here this Wednesday evening at 6 pm. It is a potluck but each Bible Study Group is asked to bring a specific kind of item. See the accompanying article as to what you should bring.

The church has some very key events happening in October and November for you to keep in your prayers. The Ladies retreat will be this Saturday. This is always a great time and with Joy McMillon as the speaker promises to fill you up spiritually. There are two leaders advance/retreats whereby the direction that God has for this church will be outlined so we can all be a part. One will focus on the various ministries that we are involved in and the other will focus on how we can be better spiritual leaders. Also Ralph Crump will be presenting a special seminar that will deal with how we can minister to those dealing with stress and/or depression. In November, we will be having our Missions Day Weekend with Dr. Gailyn and Rebecca Van Rheenen. He is an experienced missionary, but will be presenting some excellent ideas for us to be a mission-mobilizing church in our own community. All of these dates are in the calendar, but we solicit your prayers for God's blessings.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!!

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." Colossians 3:16,17

Happiness is your choice

from Life skills development Seminar
Speaker, Ralph Crump
Saturday, Oct. 16th, 10:00-12:00
"Part I & II - Happiness is Your Choice Through Skill Development"
Sunday, Oct. 17th, Assembly
"Jesus - Hub of Spiritual Support" Bible Class

Have there been times when you left a seminar or put a book down, decided to make plans to be different, and within few days, lost your enthusiasm and gave up?

The advice that many dynamic speakers and accomplished authors give is inspirational. Yet, with all of this information, why do you return to old inefficient habits? What will it take, not only to start, but also to continue toward the kind of lifestyle you really want?

I would like to ask you a few questions, like, what is it that you want for your life? Think about it for a moment and don't forget the small daily things as well as your long term goals. Next, please ask yourself what you have now and how it compares with what you want. Are there some differences? Some significant ongoing differences? If so, I would like to invite you to take a risk and begin an adventure in learning. You will discover a new pathway that is unique and significantly different from other traditional approaches. It will be logical, exciting, fun, and achievable for all who try. Your life will improve in all areas - home, work, and leisure. Are you interested? Then come to the Skills Development Seminar October 16th and 17th.

Hurricane Floyd Update

We received an email this week describing the destruction of Hurricane Floyd. Many churches particularly in the Bahamas and North Carolina suffered greatly. There is a relief effort being handled by the White's Ferry Road Church of Christ. Please take a moment to read the email posted on the mission's bulletin board and keep them in your prayers. The address for sending donations is:

Mike's Memos

LTCers you're not gonna believe tonight!

Yes, this will be our first "quiz", but most of it you will not recognize as a quiz. You need to be sure and thoroughly study II Kings 1 & 2, and come prepared to have a blast! Special treats will be an order of the evening, but with an unusual twist. The more you know, the bigger your sundae will grow. Don't anybody miss this session, and be sure you're prepared.

THANKS to all who contributed to our first LTC fund raiser, and especially to all the teens and adults who worked to make it a success. Over $600 was raised, with some IOU's still pending.
